SC2 Proleague Discontinued; SKT, KT, SGK, CJ disband - Pag…
Forum Index > SC2 General |
Regardless of the situation, we will still action upon "dead game" comments. As this is a sensitive issue for SC2 fans, please do not come into this thread and talk about SC2 players switching over to BW. This thread is also not about bashing Blizzard, David Kim, or the WCS system.

If it wasn't for the passionate and loving community the game would have vanished long ago. This is the beginning of the end that so many have been warning since 2010. Unfortunately it is not in Blizzards corporate interest to keep a game like SC2 popular (server costs continue after the revenue from the sales of the game are gone). I was one of the "pessimists" considering SC2 to be handled incorrectly, but to be honest I always hoped Id be wrong (SC2 is not a bad game, even If I dont like it as much as broodwar). I watched a lot of sc2 streams and enjoyed many of them so I am sad on about this.

To explain a bit further: With LAN young players, especially in countries in which the box prices are too expensive for most 12 year olds, have the opportunity to play the game without having to invest a lot of money first. With LAN they can play with their friends and start out with custom maps and move on once they improve. They have a community in the internet cafes (still very popular in Korea and China) and are right away embedded, they face people they know and not some barcode on ladder. With the current model of only online and with two expensive expansions that foundation was removed. The success of Overwatch in Korea contradicts this point to some extent to be fair, but I think in order to get through the pain of mastering a RTS game it would have helped tremendously. SC2 lacked young blood for some years now.

![]() ![]() ![]() and serioiusly what about the players, do they have a future? do they get support, can they somehow continue? and why is it that just so few people see that sc2 is WAY better and more fun to watch than all the other games? you don't know what you have until you lose it ![]()

No more SPL, but 200k for the Blizzcon winner and 200k for the winner of WESG... hard to say sc2 is dead haha If there is no Korean sc2 it'll be dead.

With Proleague being my absolute favorite, I turned into an early riser, so I could see a few games live before going to work. I've got more great memories than I can even remember. Looks like a melancholic early 30th birthday present, but I guess I'm a real old fucker now without my "14 year old Asians playing video games" as my fiance calls it. Anyway, thanks for letting Jin Air be the final Proleague champions, that was cool. haha roughly same age here and i feel you - sc2 proleague was the only esport and "league" thing i've ever watched, while everyone else watches football or maybe counterstrike

- Thank you to SK TELECOM T1 to have made history in the progamming world by supporting and thus giving us players like Boxer and thank you for supporting the Starcraft 2 proleague while it lasted. - Thank you to KT Rolster to have been the best team that ever existed, with players that we will never forget even if they switch to anything else. Thank you for all the rivalries, and those finals we still cherish. - Thank you to Samsung to have maintained the level with the powerhouses. - Thank you to CJ for their fantastic players as well, having the first best player in the world, the first vilain and even surviving with that. SC2 might not be dead but it will never be the same. I hope all those players will keep going, or find something that suit them if they can't stay in SC2 or even in the e-Sport scene. Good Bye Telecom powerhouses. Good bye Proleague. Hope we'll see you again.
