Q: Hi Jim, we all care about your WCS trip, how was your training? A: Hi everyone. My training is OK. And I am in relatively good form. I hope I could have a good performance.
Q: Have you had any special, targeted training? A: Not yet. I think in group stage it mostly depends on your own performance.
Q: How about the Groups this time? A: I don't know how will games vs. Polt or the Brazilian (Kelazhur) would go. The Brazilian Terran 3-0'd a 100+ ranked [sic] Zerg. I still have confidence vs. Zergs
Q: What's your chance to beat Polt? A: 20%. It needs my over-average performance and his making mistakes.
Q: What is your goal? A: Go to Germany! Certain I hope to go further.
Q: How did you feel about the Qualifier and the Challenger? A: I was rather worried when playing against Ein. Nothing else. I hope there won't be too many Terrans.
Q: Which map did you remember the most during the Qualifier? A: The second map against Ein. I was training every way. But I killed two fully loaded Medivac with help of a Pylon. I was very lucky to win it. If we went to Game 3, it would be very difficult. O(∩_∩)O~
Q: What went wrong in your PvT? A: It's maps to blame. Things always get harder when they give us new maps. The terrains became terrible for Protoss. Also, Terrans are becoming better at drops.
Q: How about others' group? A: XiGua got strong Protoss and Terran plus Snute, which makes a very difficult group. MacSed can qualify as long as he prepares well for PvP. iA's qualification would depend on his performance, but it will be hard, too.
Q: Could you talk about the gap between Chinese players and other players? A: Well, we're far behind the Koreans, and we have far worse environment compared with European and American players. Also there are few pro teams or newbies here. The competition for them is much fiercer; and they get better as a result.
Q: To be a player like you, which is more important, talent or hard work? A: Being hard-working is a kind of talent. Of course hard work is more important.
Q: Any words for the newbies? A: Things would be alright. Things could be done with hard work, and an aim.
Q: First time to spend Spring Festival abroad, how do you feel? Any special plans? A: Not yet. We are focusing on the Game.
Q: Give fans an early new year congratulation. A: I wish you all healthy, successful, better SC skills, higher Ladder ranking and a happy new year.
Q: As always, last word? A: Thanks to friends who have supported me. Thanks to the team and sponsors——DouyuTV and WYWK.

There was also the question "This is the first time you're spending Chinese New Year outside the country, how do you feel about that? Do your teammates and iG have any Chinese New Year activity planned?"
Answer: "No activity yet, right now I'm focused on the competition."
It kinda of sucks that the Chinese players have to spend Chinese New Year away from China and their families (it's like not being able to spend Christmas/Thanksgiving with your family basically), but I guess that's part of their job as progamers. Good luck to Jim and the other Chinese players! I'll be cheering for them!

Well according to some people here players should sacrifice everything connecting them to real life in order to be good eSports competitors, so yeah it's probably normal.

I have to agree these maps are weird but they are not terrible. Blizzard HAS stepped up their game like it or not. the original sc2 maps still make me cringe

Didn't see the part about the chocolate.
These new maps really aren't that bad terrain-wise. It can be hard to control space when you're out in the open, but that's what vetoes are for. Some of the maps are actually pretty damn good for protoss, with narrow ramps into the main and embedded naturals, for example. I'm pretty sure that new maps are challenging for all players, for many reasons.
Anywhooooo, it would be nice for a Chinese champion to emerge in a region like EU or NA. I feel like it would be good for their declining scene to have some inspirational characters making waves overseas.

A bit thank you for all these translations, if you can do more from the chinese scene it'd be awesome.
I think the chinese will surprise a lot of people since they won't lag hardcore this time.

hmm interesting you may be right. I did notice that they aren't really changing things up as much as they should. they should probably start using and testing more community maps because those TL map contestants have always made the best. I sometimes feel like they have a protocol and stick with it without any actual artistic design, kind of like innovations tvz sometimes, except they don't ussually win over our hearts like he does. :D oh well
