I don't think that anyone else noticed this, but during the Bo5 LotV show match between MC/HyuN and Polt/SoO when units move behind a structure they are now outlined and the structure temporarily is translucent.
Check it out:
WCS Global Finals 2014 Starcraft 2 - Showmatch - …:
Notice the SCVs behind the Starport and the CC around 27:30.
Not sure if this is a current thing, but it caught my eye and I want to share it.
Note: I don't know if this is already in GameHeart or something currently employed for SC2, but seems interesting and something I believe you will find interesting. It may be an observer only tool or limited to players with granted vision (I.e. a teammate or player can only see, but an enemy may not).

LotV runs the same engine as Heroes of the Storm, which already has this upgrade. In Heroes, the players can see the outline of covered unit parts, so I assume that players will see that in LotV while playing the game, too.

Wait, really? I didn't know that was something that was announced, that's pretty interesting. I wonder if that's part of the reasoning for releasing it as a standalone.
I highly doubt the outline will work for your opponent. It's probably just for your own units and observers. There is really no positive for the game for your opponent being able to see hidden units.

Don't be confused here, it is an upgrade to the SC2 engine, not a seperate one.
Do you guys think that there may be a graphic upgrade for LoTV? It would be awesome, but then again maybe it would put more use on the PC than intended? Only ask because of potential buffed engine. Thnxs

I didn't know that. I wonder if that means in LotV observers in the game don't lag the players as well.

That doesn't mean it is the same engine. While Heroes is a fork of the SC2 engine, the effect of seeing units behind structures could have been implemented in both engines.
AoE always had a bad camera angle for an rts, so they really needed that (and was juck for immersion). Ninja action is one of the awesome things in blizzard rts games though.
I never found the camera angle of AoK bad at all, but perhaps that's because they had already accounted for the potential difficulty in seeing units by including this feature from the start. It's particularly useful when your units are green and they're amongst trees (especially helpful if you swapped to Friend or Foe colours). Surprisingly, even though I've asked for this, I failed to notice it in the videos. Thanks for letting us know!
