This is all pretty awesome. Great day to be a StarCraft fan. With a lot of Korean players moving back to Korea this news becomes all the more exciting.
I don't understand why Monday/Tuesday would help with foreign tournaments though as Monday in particular makes traveling difficult. Might be something lost in translation there.
Only two days of PL makes me sad, but I understand why. No winners league announcement which I hope they didn't abandon. 10 months is pretty great though. Means this time next year the finals will be happening.
Monday definitely seems weird. Probably is really something in the middle of the week to allow for travel time I'd think

They abandoned it last season unless you count the playoffs. Either it's too early or they're probably not changing it if they didn't say anything yet with this announcement imo.

The text also contains some details mentioning that domestic leagues will cater to international tournaments more, and occur on weekdays as well. It's likely that the three remaining weekdays (and saturday) will be occupied by SPOTV League and GSL. That's 6 days a week of Korean SC2.

No kidding, especially combined with the gom/spotv tournaments. meaning korea is going to have a lot of activity. which will be great for the scene as a whole.
I dont understand the monday/tuesday either. if they play monday. and go to a foreign tournament... the amount of travel time will make that highly unlikely that they could be in the finals and make it back in time for PL. Even tuesday would cause issues depending on location. flights etc.

this is another thing, if your a star kespa player wanting to attend foreign events, wouldnt this make this harder? since odds are they will be competing in every thing that is taking place in korea. Wonder how this would affect players like parting/rain.

In all honesty, that is just amazing. Just. Amazing.

still wouldnt be as bad/hilarious as hybrid proleague
They did it with the 12-13 season and that wasn't a problem at all. Just have a break in the middle, maybe a for-fun tournament with all the teams partcipating, then go on as usual. Worked out fine.
OH I LOVE ME SOME PROLEAGUE <3 Can't wait for the next season, I'm gonna be happy for every year we can get a new SPL season. There is nothing like the thrill of following it. SC2 just ain't the same without a good team league.
Wouldn't the increase in activity within Korea actually reduces the amount of Koreans traveling to international tournaments? Since it might be too exhausting for them or when event schedules overlap.
The effects of promoting participation to foreign events and at the same time increasing activity within Korea could cancel each other out. Perhaps a lot of Korean pros complained about the lack of events in Korea and decided to seek opportunities overseas but now Kespa trying to bring life and prestige back into the Korean scene, wouldn't the same dissatisfied pros be lured back to Korea with the increasing activity? Just a thought.
It seems interesting its Kespa and the Korean scene that is trying to accommodate foreign tournaments and not the other way around or mutually (as of now). Either way this is all definitely great news and I hope this can help bring back the audience to SC2
This, the other news, and the region locking is going to make 2015 a really awesome year for Starcraft! Now Blizzard can put the icing on the cake next weekend at Blizzcon, hopefully

In some thread, either the post proleague shuffle thread or the free agent thread it was hinted that IM was supposedly "restructuring" and not actually dead.
You can still pray to the Gods of Starcraft that they make the rebroadcast a regular thing... not the same as watching live but better than watching VODs

I think he'll be fine, that was by far not the only reason he decided to move teams, it's just the one he chose to speak about publicly.
Three more KeSPA cups. That's really amazing. I wonder how they will organize the format. With this and the other announcement, the Korean scene looks to be amazingly active next year.

3 kespa cups + additional GSL-esque tourneys so at least there's a good deal more WCS points to go around in general.

WCS points for a teamleague where coaches decide who plays and there are no qualifiers for was a horrible idea anyway. Glad this didn't happen and we get more tournaments in korea over all to balance out WCS points instead.
It's too bad for the last Kespa Cup there were no VODs to be seen. They broadcasted the event at like 5 am US time so basically nobody ever saw it. I emailed them and messaged them and got no response. Kespa doesn't seem to care too much about the english market, imho.

you guys have to remember that Proleague can't be in the middle of the week either because that's when GSL and SpotTV's league will most likely be running

that's exactly what i was thinking; people will be leaving on sunday (which would probably be monday in korea). i would think tuesday / wednesday would be a lot better, or even wednesday / thursday.
Korea finally getting the tournament saturation it needed. Reduces impact of a region locked global tournament. Gives an reason for best players to play and live in the best region. Also we get to see how much (if any) improvement the world made through WCS when they face koreans.
Man, I'm so excited for all this extra Korean Starcraft next year. The only reason it might suck is that my sleep schedule will be even more destroyed... Oh well, it is a small price to pay~

??? Wont this just make it terrible to attend a weekend tournament. Proleague should be n Wednesday/Thursday for best scheduling
my impression is that its easier for them to go after a monday//tuesday game and be in better shape for a weekend tournament. i guess it'd be up to the team's roster choices for a match after a weekend tournament how to play someone or not or whatever.
I remember watching Life during Blizzcon and thinking, "... StarTale is still alive?"
And now they are participating in ProLeague? Pretty cool! Glad to see them still around. I wonder who else is even on their team though... the only other ST player I remember is JulyZerg, and we haven't seen much of him in a long time (retired?)
Edit: Ok, looks like they have a few other Code S level players (Alive, Curious, Panic?)... and JulyZerg went to the military.

Only Life is a code S level player.
I have hopes for Alive and Hack for proleague. Alive can become a stable well preforming player and Hack can fill an excellent sniper role. Curious am I unsure of, but I want to believe.
Panic/Pet/Stun are really just rosterfillers which I doubt will bring much value.
But all in all I think they need one or two new Code S players for decent proleague preformance.

Since Startale joins PL in association with Yoe Flash Wolves, you have to add PartinG, San and Leenock to their roster, which makes up for a (very) strong team (kinda like last year's CJ imo)

At least 9, yup
There will also be at least one hot6 cup right? And possibly even more tournaments.
I hope the KeSPA Cup and hot6ix cup are shorter events while SpoTV and GSL are longer. I'm afraid of tournament fatigue for both players and viewers, so hopefully they can schedule everything decently. 3 long term leagues plus Proleague is a bit much imo. Two long term leagues, a Proleague, and more shorter tournaments sounds a bit more manageable.

Yep I agree and I do think that's how it will be. They are afterall planning to make it easier for Koreans to play in foreignt tournaments, so the cups shouldn't be too long. The dual leagues and proleague will already take enough time. Next year should be awesome .
