This is pretty much all bad for Koreans and all good for foreigners but we'll see the skill gap widen as we now have welfare tournaments. I agree it's really sad. I just hope we get to see another individual league in Korea or we go back 2012 with 5 GSL's.

the big question is how will the scene respond? more non-WCS competitions to accomodate korean players? better competitive environments in NA/EU? it's all going to come down to execution

Also WCS EU will still be incredibly stacked with MC, First, Yoda, Jjakji, Stardust, Patience, Golden, ForGG and HYUN all living in europe under visa's that would allow them to participate.

Damn, he basically said what I was fearing. I wonder if this is gonna really increase the interest in Starcraft in NA and EU because they're taking a huge risk with this screw-the-koreans move IMO.

I think you under estimate how hard it is to get permanent residence in another country. Especially the cost of doing so for the hope of winning prize money. EU will still be stacked.

NA is hell to get a visa. I guess they can try to work around it and get a visa in China/Tw/Sea/Mx/Canada though and see if Blizzard lets them.

Actually, the whine that happened was that blizzcon wouldn't be competitive enough because of the people scoring points in WCS EU and America. This will be even "worse" (if you thought that was a bad thing) next year. Problem with Blizzcon is that it rewards players who get flown out the most while the more deserving players get shafted because they got no points. Aka, most of the Koreans playing in GSL and Proleague.

I very well realise that getting a visa for Canada or the USA is incredibly hard. I however very much doubt that it would be as hard to get a visa for countries like Peru, Belize or Jamaica. Also there is currently a lucrative sounding loophole around which would involve getting a visa for Taiwan, play in all the local TeSL tournaments and take a spot in the Taiwanese qualifier for WCS NA.
