I know there a plenty of players out there that believe they can win this, and who ever has that mind set, has the best chance of winning this tourny No one is going to "drop out" of this tournament, you qualify by making the finals of another IEM event. You're calling out people who don't exist absurdly early for no particular reason. I didn't call out anybody, im not saying it will happen, but if it does happen, thats what you're telling the community and yourself. People already are talking about drop outs, the sponsers of this tournament already has the idea of a few dropouts as well. Im not sure why you feel so sure about this, because it is a reasonable expectation. How can people already be talking about drop outs? No one is even qualified for the tournament yet! from the qualifiers? You are sooooooooooo against this, and so one-sided looking at only the negatives from this event. Since you can't comprehend that I have looked at pros and cons of this and come up with my opinion based on seeing both sides, here are a list of pros that I have come up with - unbelievable hype and tension for the final. - more press and publicity for the tournament and potentially more viewership due to increase in interest among the community - higher payout to one player makes that player more of a star (ie an sOs after Blizzcon rather than quiet unheralded Yoda post last years IEM world championships) anyway those are a few, but I maintain my previous position.

I won't ever forget, but I also don't believe the guy has a shot at getting into the finals of an IEM event or qualifying in some way, then winning the championships. I'm sorry TT

People assume the finals will be hyped no matter what, but guess what? If they get a one-sided beat down ala Nestea vs Inca or sOs/Bomber/Hyun/Polt, this will be remembered as possibly the dumbest finals of all time.

If this tournament does not happen then nobody would mention the fact that those 16 players get nothing. Now 1 of those 16 players will get $100K, how cool is that! :D Pretty sure IEM World Championship was already on the schedule before the season started. And last year had a $100k prize pool as well, so the real story is "15 players not getting money they thought they were qualifying for". If this tournament does not happen, ESL would be reneging on a lot of guarantees they made several months ago. Of course they didn't guarantee a prize distribution pre-season, but doing something this big this late is bad form.

Also, they might not end up with "the best 16 players for the fans to watch" 3. once again, this 100k prize pool tournament has already existed 4. No argument here, it's new! 5. Any press is good press, but this is only partially hype and partially serious issues with how the tournament will be run 6. This is a weird thing to have on this list. 7. Yeah some people are because they want to maintain a fairly large base of players who can support themselves.

Might want to look at the actual numbers. If you don't pay bills yet (real bills), just ask your parents if that's a decent enough source of I come. And don't forget, it's a totally unreliable source of income. Note: the tournament has been scheduled for a long time. It was just recently discovered, however, that 15/16 participants would receive no prize money from it.
