The structure that TL has set up is that you will be recognized if you contribute greatly to the community. Having a paid structure removes some of that spirit, since their's a barrier between 'staff member' and 'community member'. The way I look at it, the community does a lot of the heavy lifting and the very few paid staff TL has takes care of supplying the platform. Perhaps the most idea model would be something like the Steam Workshop, where other community members can 'tip' contributing community members for their work (kind of like TL+ but...real moneyz) but that's definitely a wild dream, and kind of removes doing things for the love of the game. It really sucks that "for esports" or "for the love of the game" have been dragged through the mud the past couple years. I think they're still legitimate reasons to contribute and create, but as esports has found more commercial success everything gets messy. I think we're lucky that TL hasn't lost that. | ||
