I just realized that doing Ro64 Group Selections is insanity. Also, to be more consistent with GSL, first group stage will be done based on seeding and only the second group stage onward will have Group Selections.

Group Selection time! Time to make your own Groups of Death, arrange a deathmatch against a rival, or just pick the weakest contestant remaining to get an easier ticket to the next round. It's also a good opportunity to say something nasty about your pick, or I guess you can compliment them too whatevs
Procedure
First seeds are chosen by lichter Points. These highest seeds will be assigned to groups as follows:
1st - Group A 2nd - Group D 3rd - Group C 4th - Group B
Then, each seed will pick in chronological order, in a snake pattern.
Each player must post in this thread selecting their player in that order. For example, "I choose BisuDagger bec Bisu so handsome". Posts selecting players before their turn will be overlooked.
Each player must select another player before their selection deadline. However, players are allowed to pick as soon as possible so that the Group Selections can move at a quicker pace. Players who are unable to post within the allotted time period will automatically select the contestant with the least lichter Points.
The Times indicated are DEADLINES. Players must pick before their deadline ends, but are allowed to pick as soon as possible as long as their previous pick has already picked.
Start Time - Monday, Dec 16 1:00am GMT (GMT+00:00) Shellshock - Monday, Dec 16 3:00am GMT (GMT+00:00) Hot_Bid - Monday, Dec 16 5:00am GMT (GMT+00:00) opterown - Monday, Dec 16 7:00am GMT (GMT+00:00) Waxangel - Monday, Dec 16 9:00am GMT (GMT+00:00) TheBB - Monday, Dec 16 11:00am GMT (GMT+00:00) BisuDagger - Monday, Dec 16 1:00pm GMT (GMT+00:00) shiroiusagi - Monday, Dec 16 3:00pm GMT (GMT+00:00) GameHeart - Monday, Dec 16 5:00pm GMT (GMT+00:00) monk - Monday, Dec 16 7:00pm GMT (GMT+00:00) KristofferAG - Monday, Dec 16 9:00pm GMT (GMT+00:00) Die4Ever - Monday, Dec 16 11:00pm GMT (GMT+00:00) Torenhire - Tuesday, Dec 17 1:00am GMT (GMT+00:00)

If a mod or admin sees that I am not updating and has the time, please kindly update the thread. Because I need to sleep too
**Note: I may not be around the entire time to update the groups, so please make sure to check the last posts to know if it's your turn and how long you have to pick.

His endless needling of MKP and Prime hardly helps - he's more butthurt than anyone about the GSTL Finals, despite not even being a StarTale fan.
I've also mentioned before that I don't want to pick a 'pushover' for my group, since that's a bit mean. Dodgin is the highest pickable seed, and he has contributed a small amount to the SC2 community, so he shouldn't be quite a pushover.
But I'm going to smash him out of the RO32 and into the abyss of suffering. I hope he picks hard opponents, because otherwise I'll afkwin the RO32 even more easily than the RO64.
I pick CosmicSpiral. I wanted to pick a StarTale fan so Prime could get another easy win over ST and luckily the #1 Life fan is available to be picked. I was a little worried about overtime since he was leading most of the last poll but it all worked out.
I also dont give a fuck about your start time. I already picked

way to stick it to the man. this entire tournament has been a mismanaged farce up until now, and suddenly lichter wants to be professional by holding to a schedule? LOL

Are you open to changing the format? If you partition the 24 people that can be picked into 2 partitions, and only groups A-D can have players from partition 1 and only groups E-H can pick players from partition 2, then you can run the 2 partitions at the same time and give 4 hours between picks instead of just 2 hours.

Considering how lichter Points already resulted in some ridiculous groups last time around I am trying to put as little limitations as possible. No matter how I'd pick the two selection pools, it's going to be arbitrary and could result in more uneven groups.
If people pick tough groups it's their own fault now. :p

Why don't you let the 2h run out? You have the time for the full monty, you announce a pick every 2h. This means the contestants can plan ahead and you can make a solid schedule.

I suppose that is an acceptable compromise, and I can allow people to PM me (or a mod assistant) their choices in advance

You could just randomize the 2 partitions. Or allow us to get ahead of schedule so since Shellbot already picked then Plexa has 10 hours left to pick, because Shellbot was due to pick 2 hours after this starts in 8 hours.

I think it's better to keep the picks public but allow us to get ahead of schedule, like rollover minutes for picking lol. I think we'll get through it really quickly. Maybe you could set time barriers for the 3 different stages just to get some more hype and trash talk.

Well that was my original intention so that we could go through it quickly, and thus the current set up that does allow it.
However if people are concerned about being around for the pick, having a scheduled time for picking is also acceptable to me as I allotted enough time for such a situation.

Happy Birthday!
Thanks! I'll be 26! This age means that if I date an 18 year old girl, that she was 10 when I turned 18. Yikes.
With such tight deadlines, I wouldn't be surprised if over a quarter of participants don't succeed in naming someone before their slot ends. What they should do is be like Innovation and send lichter a list of people, with the instructions to pick the first currently unpicked person on the list.
if plexa and hotbid forget to pick, they'll be picking gameheart and baller respectively, which are the same initial RO64 matches they had. this is potentially an issue, i guess?
I was going to pick shiro, because we're friends and so we could advance together [I also suspect that Shiro would pick an easyish opponent which would make advancing together likely].

The problem is that by going AFK the powerusers get some of the easiest opponents without being shamed for picking weak opponents. There's no incentive for them to pick. If they would be assigned someone from ranks 9-16, more of them would show up.

who then picks a super favorite
Yeah, I just realised the guy I pick will have a grand total of two choices when his turn comes around. Whoopee.
Well, I guess it's up to me to actually do something.
My shortlist consists of the following people (of those not yet picked): The_Templar, Torenhire and KAG. The former two because they ousted friends of mine and because they didn't exactly get through last round with flying colours. KAG because he's the only one here I know for sure I can beat, but I don't want to be lame so…
I also considered going for one of the lesser known folks of the establishment, but decided against it in the end.
Now as it happens Torenhire would be my autopick, but we've had enough of those. So I'll go with The_Templar. I hope that when the time comes and he's left with R1CH and some other mega-favourite, he picks at least the lesser of two evils.
Shiroiusagi, you're up next. You have about 3½ hours.
BB, I got through the last round with flying colors. Only Licther beat me and that was because there was some Serejai mass-vote bribery going on.
I ain't scared of you. In fact, Templar and i have somewhat of a mutual agreement. My forces will be backing Templar, you might regret your pick when the time comes!

I hate antagonising people, but it had to be someone…
There should be enough time until voting starts to become a dry sock. But before that… you have to find the matching sock to make a pair! Muhaha! Unexpectedly able to pull this analogy further.

yes. it's snake style drafting
then cosmicspiral picks BisuDagger, and BisuDagger picks me and you are stuck in a very hard group.
it's possible although I don't even know if CosmicSpiral is following this. I don't think I've seen him post in any of the threads or talk about it so it might just be an autopick.

lichter, how are you going to do the seeding for the next group stage? I feel like you should do something different than just your lichter points. Maybe even just limit the initial seeding to group winners like people suggested or use join dates. Maybe largest % margin of victory through the first 2 rounds

The first step to destroying the world is destroying Shellshock.
What happened to stuchiu's pick? Did he afk-pick itsjustatank? But the schedule says he has 20 minutes left... Is lichter jumping the gun and ignoring his own schedule? :p
BB stands for "Brood Berets". I know, stupid name but whatever :D It's my old Diablo2/Starcraft/Warcraft3/World of Warcraft clan/guild. Been playing together for ~11 years now
well 2pacalypse probably isnt going to pick anyone and your pick was last. this tournament already has a lack of integrity so maybe lichter will let you pick someone still if you do it before the 2pac autopic

lets make a popularity contest where we nominate people to get banned. people with the most nominations enter a single elimination bracket with the loser getting banned for 6 months till everyones banned but one guy, or two but only if they are from the same country. we can call this contest the games of the hungry or smth along those lines.

i might consider voting for you against disciple unless he threatens to ban me.

Skipped the day of hell (day 1) so your contribution doesn't matter.

really? shit I thought it was so it's , I gotta hurry up.... (interesting enough 1 day, 9 hours, and 55 minutes on TL countdowns rounds down to 1 day and 9 hours, not sure which rounding method would be most appropriate for that)

Yep, KAG is up next to pick. And Shellshock is in the all autopick group. Shellshock vs R1CH should be fun.
pretty sure R1CH is going to wreck the group pretty easily. look how he's done so far
But I thought Nazgul would wreck his ro32 group too. I was surprised how convincingly R1CH beat Plexa though so maybe I shouldn't underestimate R1CH again.

If I have to face R1CH I'll just crash TLPD, LB1, LB2, Liquipedia, FPL, and the calender all at once to distract him.

I'll go out on a limb and say that Plexa > Nazgul. I don't think Die4Ever made the right choice.
hmm looking at the vote counts from the previous round you may be right, consider it a gift lol
i probably should have picked an easier matchup than bisudagger for my first round, but whatever, interesting matches are better than being mean and choosing walkovers (although not many at all at this stage)

I wish I had mysteriously gotten 10 votes at the end instead of nazgul, then we'd have two "walkovers" in the RO16
