50USD for just high quality? That seems kinda steep to me considering twitch high is capped at what, 720p with just 1600bitrate and 30FPS? Like, that can be just half as good as source quality, no?

For someone who never watches live, only VODs, I hope they find a decent way to organize VODs on their Twitch channel. Watching WCS KR S2 OSL VODs on Twitch was painful; they were always in the wrong order and/or mislabeled. GOMTv's great spoiler-free VODs system was always my preferred method.

Really? It's been a hot topic for months; you can't watch twitch from Europe in the evening unless you go down to medium or low.

This.

The price for me was always greatly due to how awesome the VOD pages were. Whereas on twitch it's utterly impossible to find a good VOD...

I'm fine with the Twitch streaming, but they should have their own VOD system using Twitch's videos.

Switching to Twitch to save money will turn out to be more expensive than the alternative, given so many people will cancel their subscription in anticipation of the poor service of Twitch.

Only the old ones from 2010 to 2012, new ones will be behind the pawall on Twitch. I hope they keep their indexing scheme on their own webpage, with links to the appropriate Twitch page, maybe? That way they could circumvent the absolutely shit VOD system of Twitch.

I also hope there's some sort of indexing system for the YouTube videos for the 2010 through 2012 seasons. It all sounds great, but we're talking about hundreds and hundreds of VODs... I hope they really will put ALL of the 2010-2012 VODs on YouTube, including Code A, U&D, the side tournaments (like AoL, etc). I have been catching up on 2011 GSL seasons I missed and was halfway through the 2011 October U&D. Now the videos are gone, replaced with a "this video will be on YouTube soon" message.

Did they already shut down all 2013 sc2 vods? I still have GSTL unfinished and I can't open any vods.

Does this mean GomTV struggles with money? Since this seems like one move like that

This is what my gut tells me... I guess that it will be much cheaper to get the heavy lifting done by twitch.

I've been worried about GOM's future for a while, this may not be the best news in the world but it's not the worst either. After all, we will get more GOM tournaments with GOM production and casting and that is most important for me.

Well I know they had issues with people not wanting to / cannot install their GOM player on their computers.

Though they did remedy this with their own in-house streaming system, which seemed to work fine.

Twitch would get them more exposure though.

i think this mostly looks like a move to cut costs for some products that were expensive, and for which better alternatives existed.in the era of twitch, afreeca etc why would you have your own player if you can constantly get on the frotpage of twitch and get viewers from there.the small minority who probably purchased passes and downloaded vods was not worth it in the long run.

Bollocks. Twitch is about the worst streaming service out there, with YouTube's terrible, laggy servers and shit coding coming in at a close second. GomTV's streams were awesome because they offered free, high quality, zero lag streaming.

GOM sucked ass (I don't know, I think i reinstalled the player more than all windows versions since 1992). Twitch suck MAJOR ass, stop support for SmartTV (rlly, upgrading to newer flash supported means is quicker? ha); "Loading channel data" and that's it; multitwitch.tv stopped working on TV as well - countless problems.
And stream freezes *always* on the most storm, or nuke, or 50 roaches, or something. Funny I don't recall such lags on Broodwar days. The technology, I suppose. Or maybe sockets changed drastically in the new mobile world.
Mine more minerals.

Having same problem. Anyone else? Maybe any news regarding them shutting down VODs? Flash Player, every driver works great on other sites, just GOMTV ones are blank (also checked their website no info regarding immediate shutting down VODs) - only World of Tanks works, but that doesn't cut it.
