I didn't know he was coming back. Good for Stephano. My expectations are very low given that i don't believe he was ever even able to set up a computer that he could stream from (which tells me his set up to play HoTS may not be ideal) but I'm hoping for the best nonetheless.

There hadn't been a patch for a few weeks at that point so I doubt he has been practicing at all. Also anyone who says that Stephano didn't practice only heard that from Stephano himself. People like Demuslim said that Stephano practiced a ton.
No people like Rotterdam and Bling confirmed that he did not practice a "ton" and in some cases at all. There was a two week period where he was living in the EG house and streaming a lot, along with DeMuslim, and then it just stopped, so I suppose that is where the DeMuslim claim comes from. It is almost certain that he didn't practice a lot and if you followed his accounts, his declines tended to coincide with the extended vacations he took after almost every major tournament. I'm not making excuses for him. It's pretty clear he has a very poor work ethic by even foreign SC2 standards.

Ooooooh Stephano and Jjakji :o

Hope Stephano is getting crushed in the first game.

I find it quite hard to not say negative things about Stephano.
I don't know what it is about him. Could it be his carefree attitude and likely honesty about not practicing yet somehow performing fifty times better than players with a really hard work ethic? Could it be the fact that he stalled his appearence in GSL for so long then pretty much withdrew from the league in the Up & Down stages without giving the competition a proper chance? Could it be the fact that he (like other EG players) verbally crap on Naniwa? Could it be the fact he snubbed Qxc - the guy who single handedly all-killed IM in the GSTL - and called him bad practice? Could it be the fact he's a bona fide patchzerg and retired once his results dried up to 'decent foreigner' levels dried up thanks to well-deserved balance updates?
Come to think of it, I think it's all of those things.

But who the hell cares, since it's HSC it's all about fun and games =) That's what everyone assumed would happen with Polt, right? If you're a genius at SC2, which Stephano arguably is/was, then perhaps magic can happen. It's Romance.
Yes, that's the big thing we all do hope about, like we did when Naniwa faced Soulkey, Jaedong was in another final, etc... not going to happen

He never cared about longrun tournaments. He attended GSL because his fans were so loud about it. He just did for his fans and he knows that they just follow him indepedently how he played well/poorly at the tournament.

Come to think of it, I think it's all of those things. I have to point out that Stephano DID play in the Up & Downs and made it back into Code S. The only reason he didn't stay in Code S was WCS. He decided to go and play in WCS EU instead of Code S. Additionally, he retired because he wanted to go back to school. It was his plan the whole time. He announced retirement and then proceded to claim 2nd place in WCS EU Season 1. I'm not sure how that qualifies him as a patchzerg. I know that I can't change your opinion but you cannot deny that he was the greatest foreigner of all time.

Artosis said that no one really retires and we'll see Stephano again and I didn't believe, I stand corrected

Could it be that you are simply making an attempt at trolling, which can hardly be rated anything but 1/10?

Come to think of it, I think it's all of those things. I'd argue that he was pretty much the first foreigner zerg that actually truly micro'ed his units, his ling micro was at times quite disgusting. He was far far from a patch zerg, if I recall he started his rampage atleast 9 months before the queen patch. He is I think the best foreigner we've ever had, Nani might be coming close to him right now, but I don't think he's there yet.

lolno. If you watch his VODs and then watch the Blizzcon/WCS ones, you realize that Zergs are still doing sloppy shit like a-moving from one side in hopes of killing shit, when Stephano was one of the few players ANYWHERE to make flanking from multiple sides and static army positioning for baiting opponents a consistent part of the mid-to-lategame.

Huh, very interesting :O
But btw:
He dared to burn more brightly than anyone else, and was reduced to ashes by his own fire. :D
