I was just visiting the SOSPA thread and the BW streamer posted this:
On September 26 2013 18:42 snipealot wrote: sonic just announced KT Mind for sospa
4 more players to go
from SOSPA's head's Facebook page:
https://www.facebook.com/sogoodtt
"kt전프로 박성균선수 섭외되었습니다 김태균선수가 도움 주셧습니다^^ 아직 못푼 카드 4장 남아있습니다 기대되시죠^^?"
Bing translated to "Kt Pro has been the player Park Sung-Kyun Kim Tae-Kyun athletes help contact note was ^ ^ 4 not yet unpacked card are left looking forward to do ^ ^? "
Is Mind retiring? Any "official sources" yet (aka from Daily Esport or Fomos)?

mixed feelings about this...

Ah, okay, then the translation in the op is wrong. Well, if it really means ex-KT, then that pretty much settles it, doesn't it?

Sonic league is starting to look incredible. BW lives on.

BW revival <3 Thanks SC2

Can´t even remember him playing SC2, so that probably didn´t help.

Wouldn't be a huge surprise. Mind didn't make much of an impact in SC2. He played four total games in the entire proleague season, and lost all four.
Still I guess it's cool that SOSPA is getting these players.
|
SOSPA's looking great. Happy to see that there is a place to go for those who still have passion for bw
|
Well given that he would just retire if sospa didn't exist I'm pretty happy. Still sad to see all these guys retire, but when the game changes this much it's only natural that some loose interest.
|
I would much prefer it if the title was "KT Mind to play in SOSPA", instead of gloomy retirement news. He is not retiring, he will still be involved in gaming.
|
To be totally honest, he wasn't exactly doing too great in SC2, so hopefully he'll find more success in BW.

Then again, if you were to nitpick even further, you could still say that since he'd then be listed as "this player has retired from competitive Starcraft II" on Liquipedia, it could indeed be called a retirement in the context of the SC2 subforum.

Well, anybody leaving KeSPA is retiring, at least according to KeSPA. I still remember when they claimed Boxer was retiring because he... hm... maybe that was when he tried out SC2?

One of them is Boxer, SKT said he stepped down for health reasons and we all know the only cure is more BW.

Nah, Boxer may play BW on the side, but he will probably return as terran coach... if only SKT had more than 2 relevant terrans :D

Health reasons can be another way for him to step down while his rep stays intact seeing as how he majorly contributed to SKT's rise.
This news doesn't surprise me tbh. I haven't seen mind play a single game in SCII(supposedly he played 4 and lost them all lol) and BW is the game that made him want to be a programer. Best of luck to him!

Good luck, Mind. You beat Bisu in the MSL finals, maybe you can upstage him in SOSPA too.
|
Really exciting news, i cant wait to see him play in SOSPA .
|
Mind never did anything in sc2, wouldn't be surprised.
|
I think that when next Proleague season's rosters are announced, we'll find out that a lot more pros have retired under the radar.
|
Bisu's Arch-nemesis
|
I think this has been said a thousand times on TL, but "forcing" BW pros to play another game, is like telling professional football players to play handball. If they don't enjoy SC2 it's probably the best thing to do, especially with the strict practice hours as a kespa player.
|
Mind was not very good in sc2 anyways. Never won in proleague and poor performances at WCS qualifiers...
GL to him in the future, looks like sc2 wasn't his game

If they don't enjoy SC2 it's probably the best thing to do, especially with the strict practice hours as a kespa player. It's been said way too many times. Retirements do happen in the offseason and Mind's one isn't remotely surprising. He's old and hasn't performed well at either game in a long time. He wouldn't have lasted much longer in BW either and will probably do military service soon anyway. Considering how evenly the retirements are spread between the proleague teams (I expect KT to lose 2 more - maybe Hoejja + BarrackS). it also looks like a downsizing of rosters and salaries heading into next season with the least successful/passionate/oldest volunteering to leave.

What's strange is that even though Mind beat him 3-1 in the MSL finals, Bisu is 6-0 other than that with wins in OSL and Proleague. Bisu got his revenge. But now it's Mind's time to turn the table. Please play on Afreeca / SOSPA! Mind fighting!

Sospa just got even better. Come back to the game you love Mind!

I dunno if I necessarily agree with your thought about Sonic's hype. I mean, ya, I guess it can generate a small amount of hype but him retiring is nowhere on the level of some of the recent retirees and I think he would get in trouble if he tried to say that a KeSPA member who is playing SCII is playing BW? I think* lol

Uh, he wasn't exactly successful in SC2 so this is probably the right decision. Good luck to him!

That is a bad decision. Bisu owns BW atm. No more Mind Time in SC2 then...

Imo PL and OSL shouldn't have switch to sc2. It just hurt both sides. If BW was still on today.. it helps the SC scene in general and vice versa.
