I just saw that on the Millenium website.
Basically, he's saying that he's taken several small breaks throughout his career, helping him to refocus on the game. But this time, his short break turned into a longuer one, making him wondering about whether he should play SC2 again or not.
So he won't play under the Millenium tag for a while. The article also says that he performed poorly recently, especially in the WCS, Dreamhack and French Championship.

I'm quite sad to see him go, as he was basically the only Belgian top player we had. I wish him good luck and hope to see him play again soon.

That's a shame, remember the guy's absolutely excellent games against MMA back at IEM Kiev.

The King of the Franks has been dethroned. Retired in his castle, patiently, he's waiting for the right time to come back and slay those who dared to betray him in the past.

Sad, but expected.

Sad - always one of the fastest foreigners and most exciting to watch. His blink micro in particular was amazing.

ah Lewellys (Millemium's manager) must be very sad. He has the potential to have a long career and be one of the top dogs in the game and i know Millemium is trying hard to foster french and french speaking talents.
I hope he'll come back stronger !

Dam. All them retiring players =(. So sad. Gl hf Feast.

So many foreigners retiring ;/
gg, wp, feast

Llewellys just tweeted that two news about Millenium SC2 will come : the first at 17:00, the other during the night.

The Stalkers are going to miss him. Take care and good luck.

They are better (actually any symptoms of CTS is gone) but I still have inflammation in my thumbs for some reason that my doctors can't explain.. Also I have to say I really wish Feast don't give up because I always considered him a rival (even though I was much weaker) and each times he did some good results, I had raises in motivation^^

I hope you find what you need Feast. It was always great to have a fellow Belgian to cheer for. I hope to see one again soon.

That makes two of us : (
Good luck to you, Feast

Sad face.

I hope he occasionally streams if he chooses to still play recreationally... love watching him!

GM should be an easy feat soon

Always thought he had a lot of potential to go really big, sad to see

This doesn't sound like a break as much as retirement.
I hope I'm wrong.

Unsurprising, but unfortunate. Whatever happened to the grubby thing then the TotalBiscuit sponsorship or something?

I sincerely hope Feast moves on to something better. Just like Thorzain, you have your time in the sun, but then you have to get realistic. Playing SC2 professionally is way too competitive and difficult for a lot of players right now who haven't made waves in an long time. We enjoyed it while it lasted
|
Be sure to see ALOT more people retiring.
SC2 is just not as worth to play for foreigners as it used to be.
|
Sad, Feast was NE in WC3?
Anyways, I was rooting for him in sc2 and he started showing really nice play. Then all of a sudden, right after that, he started playing terribly. It didn't make sense, but I figured that roller coaster would lead to a retirement from him.
Still, I hope he comes back!

SC2 is just not as worth to play for foreigners as it used to be. It's a great thing imo. Nobody needs a million pro gamers, especially not the pro gaming community. It would be beautiful if eSports could sustain such a massive amount of players, but especially when it's still just on the rise, we had too many players.
Now the ones who couldn't hack it should start to fade or move direction. IdrA to becoming a personality (finally), same for IncontroL (pretty much?), HuK is starting to play decent again, but no promises there. Feast unfortunately couldn't find passion in it. Don't blame it on SC2 not being worth it. Everyone should have known that since the beginning. Anyone blinded by money was making a god awful mistake. Playing is about passion, and we are using that passion to build careers. Just by playing the game a lot has little to do with a career being built.
Playing games professionally and casually is totally different. These cases are not uncommon, so we simply wish them the best and say goodbye.

1) Its not a million (foreign) progamers but a lot less than 50. Not sure if we need less than that.
2) I dont think many people played SC2 for a career and are now missing the big money. I would rather say that they have passion and love for the game but if you just cant live off it you have to quit sooner or later no matter how big the passion is. Since Koreans are farming the prize money at any big tournament foreigners just cant support themselves anymore.

I thought that too but it’s not actually as bad as it seems, I guess because you always remember the retirees, but don’t really bat an eyelid when the signings are made. Looking through liquipedia it seems that Thorzain and Feast are on indefinite hiatus (and judging by their sentiments I wouldn’t expect to see too much of them). Stephano, Theognis, Xlord, Idra, and Pokebunny are all the notable retirees in the last six months who were involved in WoL. I also noticed Fuzer and Siw as retirees from the HotS era (not sure anyone’s mentioned Siw yet, that was news to me).

By reading the article, I believe motivation was less an issue then work ethic. Being able to train each time for numerous hours and making these hours counts isn't easy when you are just out of highschool. Maturity is a tough lesson to learn.

Wasn't Feast the guy that was getting mentored by Grubby for a while, or do I not remember properly?

Not the least bit surprising though. Stephano, Thorzain and Feast are all at an appropriate age for University, and august is a common month for people to be accepted for University in Europe.

Alot of people leaving/stepping down now. But it was kinda like this in BW too around 02-03 and some new people stepped in.

Seems like it. With less competition happening in part due to WCS, I can see the temptation to leave.

this pros freaks me out, the second they got good they retire or make break xD
|
Whats his definition to "a long break"? As good as a player as he was, I don't think he will return to sc2.

He's not that good anyway, can't even perform in WCS EU. maybe he's good at something, but definitely not starcraft

He used to be a singer a long time ago.

Tbh elvis it's not you have shown us anything orly even did better then you.. So if we gotta sum up our best belgian players is probably feast and orly

What's that tourney where he made it really deep to the finals or something like that? I remember that was the first I herd of him and his steam became so popular for a little after that
|

foreign scene is smaller and smaller, no new talents and "old" ones are retiring or taking breaks......
|
Noo... I used a lot of his PvT build way back in WoL T_T You can quit pro gaming but don't quit gaming You can still join tourneys without sponsors.
|
Good luck to Feast in everything!
Seen a couple of posts back some people conversing about material aspects of pro-play. Don't know if it's relevant but it kind of reminds me of early BW progaming days where i've seen a video of Boxer showing SKT1's gamng house and it was just a boot camp really, also heard when someone said they had to earn even their food expenses. They had to go through it. It was a part of the road. And it just looks to me like foreigners want to skip that part, and maybe, just mybe, that's not the right way? Back to the boot-camping days to crush Koreans without need of region locks?
Sorry if too much, just needed to rant some, again Feast all the best on the way !!
|
I knew last year that many players go to play one year as fulltime player. As expected, gl to feast in your future. Thorzain said last year if he switched to EG ("I play another one year"). I see Mana is the next, maybe the college in poland begins later than in many other eu countries.

@Up
Collage in Poland start October unless u have repeats then they are in Septemper
