I'ts gonna be sick, no it's not gonna be 50 people there, you guys need to stop wishing for star 2 to die in korea, it's getting really fucking sad. What kind of a fucked up community are we when most of us wish for our own game to be dead?
OT: Sick that it's gonna be there, can't wait! To me it seems like its just the old BW fans who want SC2 to fail so the pros go back to playing BW. No I don't want them to go back to BW. Yes a couple of fresh faces playing in the SSL never hurt, but FlaSh will immediately retire after he is done with SC2. I'm actually surprised that he hasn't done so already. I mean yes it's still profitable for him to keep playing, but considering that he is already banking a couple of millions at his age and has enough time to finish school he could be the definitive winner of BW unlike some of the other ex pros who are stuck as coaches or such.
maybe he likes being a pro gamer and playing starcraft 2? ever considered that?

Have. I'm 90/10 in favor of him staying for the money and tolerating SC2. I don't even think these players were still passionate of BW after 3-4 years of playing. What they did care for was the competition/the fans/the team

Progaming is a recognized career over there, you don't just retire "because I have bank". Flash has been pretty successful in sc2 thus far (ro2/4 MLG, going to have the most PL wins, 2nd at the Asian indoor somethingsomething, ro16 twice in a row gsl/osl). While he doesn't have the same drive as he did in BW.. there's little reason for him to quit unless he outright disliked the game, which I don't believe is the case. It's simply a smart move. Progaming should never be THE final step in your life it should be a transition. FlaSh could possibly make even more money, but I personally wouldn't risk it. I mean yeah if he was 24, right now he might as well stick with whatever he is doing before he is done with college he'll be like a lot (I don't know how the Korean system works and I'm not fully sure if FlaSh finished High School or not). And no it's not considered a career. It's just that we at TL like to think so. Its pretty much never a smart move to turn done 200k a year or W/e he makes in you early 20s................... Even if you will be stuck as a coach or maybe a janitor for the rest of your life once you are done? FlaSh is 19 he can still do ''anything'' and he already won 3 OSLs, 3 MSLs, a WCG, a GSL (The BW one), everything from the best rookie award to the best player award and obviously loads of cash. I'm pretty sure that he isn't more than he did probably a little bit less, but still a lot. He will need to pull out eventually and the longer he waits the more likely that he gets stuck with a bad job for the rest of his life. Stephano is a good example of a player retiring after he has struck gold. In his case it probably wouldn't hurt to wait 1 more year and go to college after, but FlaSh hasn't even finished High School (I think), but being 19 that's not that bad especially with the bank that he has pilled up. He can easily attend High School maybe even continue progaming with a relaxed schedule for the first 1-2 years (I don't know how the system works in SK, but where I live and a lot of Europe the first couple of years don't actually matter - as in they don't affect your college application), but again I really don't know.
Flash completed high school. Also, he's still young. Very young. Sure, he has ~2 years of military service, but when you're making his wage, why would you go to college? College will still be there when the money stops coming. In all likelihood, he will make less after graduating college, if he goes, than he does now.
And besides, who are any of us to criticize what he's doing with his life or even discuss what options he has and "should" take.

I love SC2 as much as the next guy (probably not I like it, but I much prefer BW), but a progaming career is always a sinking ship you just need to jump off at the right time before it bombs.

Wait, you mean when people on TL suggest what other people should do they're not certified life coaches instead of people who think happiness and success is only about how big your bank account is? Say it isn't so.

P.S:for those talking about attendence may I remind you that the last major sc2 competitions aka dreamhacks, mlgs,OSLs,GSLs had a packed house and there were no empty seats. .Yeah I know at team level politics is keeping the scene back in korea but when this will be solved you are going to see packed house again at teamlevel. P.S2:i see a lot of people bitching about wcs finals.I dunno what you guys were watching but when I watched the wcs finals it was a packed house and eveybody who posted pics showed a packed house.I understand the sc2 dying thing is trendy but at least get your facts straight. That would be a good argument for bad attendance, but you forget the fact that Brood War was historically driven by marketing (KT pouring loads of money into selling their brand etc etc). It builds hype something that the GSL is just not capable of. Whatever viewership decided to transition from BW to SC2 probably watches OGN. GSL was NEVER popular in Korea. It was always driven by foreign viewership.
Although i agree with the importance of OGN I do not think GSL is as small as everybody think it is. I have not seen any numbers yet but somebody here was mentioning the number of 1 million viewers per gsl match on their player(dunno if that is true or not). Also I have not seen any numbers to compare the viewersip of gsl to that of ogn.OGn being a regular television probably has higher viewership and reach but GSL is still a good organization with many viewers and until I do not see number proving otherwise I am not going to degrade them in any way

So true, even if it's a joke - it's pretty pathetic. I do have my skepticism seeing as whenever you see who's there at the venue for regular proleague matches, it's not exactly packed. But now that it's the finals, hopefully there will be more people interested and seats will fill up. But seeing how "empty" it looked with SC2's first OSL finals last year, as well as the upper deck seats completely empty or tarped off in WCS S1 finals as well. I have my doubts.

This is where the SSL was held to. Nice venue and it makes me even more proud of Sonic. I hope they don't spend toomuch effort. WJS is just gonna 4-0 anyway.

no it wasn't. sonic decided that it wasn't worth having such a big venue as it wouldn't fill so they switched it to a much smaller one. (http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=412436)
