Welcome back guys.
JimRising, OneTrickPony and JonSnow are all pretty good from what I've seen. Haven't seen the others play before.

Well if we're going to keep theorycrafting on this mostly irrelevant issue, let me play devil's advocate here: Why would you sponsor a pro gaming team if you don't get any exposure out of it and you're not passionate enough about pro gaming that you would want to be associated with it? How about this: Imagine a businessman doing fairly well, maybe he used to play or follow BW back in the day so he wants to support the rts scene and he recognizes a familiar name, sMi. So he decides to sponsor them but he cannot do so publicly because that could seriously damage his business which would mean he couldn't sponsor the team anymore either. This is purely fictional but I don't think it's that far fetched. Sponsoring a team would in no way hurt a business. Also, you're trying to consider him a business owner? Yeah his business wouldn't be hurt. Nobody would be able to hurt him anyway because he owns the business. Only thing that would hurt him is if the team didn't follow through. Also, not revealing yourself as the sponsor would be the most harmful thing aside from the team crashing down. If you're just considering him a businessman, then the business he works for won't be affected in any way. There is no reason for it to be involved at all. Please dont talk about business as if you know the implications of sponsoring a hobby team for a large business
So what are these implications?

You really have an axe to grind here, don't you? The implications would depend on the nature of the business itself, their motivations and their intentions of sponsoring a team among other factors. I'm not an expert or someone with inside information so I'm not going to pretend. However, it doesn't take much to think of a few situations in which a big business wouldn't want their name out there, at least temporarily.

No I'm just curious.
And a little unnerved whenever someone makes a condescending post like "pls don't talk about it if you don't know" and then elaborates NOTHING on that given topic.

No one owes you any information. They are a privately run organization and are free to divulge w/e information they want in whatever manner they want. I'm pretty sure this thread was just to introduce the organization and it's players, a purpose it fulfills. If the sponsor wishes to remain anonymous then that's that. There was nothing condescending about his post. People are talking about shit they have no idea about and he called them out.

I think you haven't read my posts in this topic. I don't care about this team's sponsor. We were theoretically discussing the implications in a general situation, and then along came Denzil and said "Please dont talk about business as if you know the implications of sponsoring a hobby team for a large business". Reasonable post, but it is condescending and he doesn't explain anything of this knowledge that he implies to be possessing. That's why I continued the discussion. I find these implications interesting, so I would like to know what he knows.

He didn't imply that he had any extra knowledge. He just called out the few people in here trying to act as authorities on sports team sponsorships when they clearly have no clue what they are saying. Anyways, this is pretty off topic and derailing their thread.
Again, GL to the team and it's players.
