The Polt thing wasn't the issue. It was the comment he made here on TL that preceded it that made it all look really bad.

It was unfair and also not very smart to have Incontrol on SotG when he learns of Idra's dismissal. Unfair because clearly Inc and Idra are close buds. Not the brightest move because you don't know how Inc is going to react to that information on a live stream... Having a public blow-up over a personnel decision is the same class of bad publicity as Idra's posts... That said, Inc seems like the consummate pro, and showed a fair bit of restraint from what I saw. Poorly handled by the team, though, imo.

Can't say I'm surprised, but I doubt his comment is the reason he was removed from EG. As many have said, this is typical Idra being Idra. I think the real issue is that he is no longer considered a top foreigner and people are probably tired of covering up his shit while putting up no results.

While Idra certainly isn't a top foreigner anymore he still makes a lot more money for himself (and evil geniuses) than a lot of players because he is popular. Releasing Idra is probably not the right decision for EG in terms of money, so I think their statement makes sense.

Yeah... not gonna happen. He goes against all principles that TL stand for.

He still received an offer a couple of years ago by TL, but decided to join EG. Your point?

Maybe the situation isn't the exact same as a couple of years ago?

How ironic is it that a post arguing that player personality is more important than skill in promoting e-sports, using Idra as Exhibit A, has actually been the catalyst for his downfall? And the cause of that downfall being the very controversial personality endorsed in that post.

Honestly, IdrA brought a lot of attention to EG but that attention has gotten increasingly negative, with diminishing returns.

Think about it. Would EG be stereotyped as this 'BM, bad-boy, money-grubbing corporation' if IdrA wasn't on the team? Probably not.

It's time for EG and IdrA to evolve away from each other.

They'd be labeled bad boys if Idra and Stephano were winning as often as they used to or gave Koreans a run for their money like they used to.

Yes. Like I said in the other thread, EG is branding themselves as 'the badass' team.

There's nothing 'badass' about quitting a broadcast tournament game with a max army and 2000/2000 banked.

They gave IdrA a million chances to change his attitude. Time to move on.

The sc2 community is "not good" to say it politely. The community puts way too much focus on the "entertainment"-side of a player and as soon as someone does something slightly questionable he gets hated so badly for it. For example the ddos incident with stephano shows how high the hating can peak (its not ordinary, but still very alarming to me). Also, the players you meet in ladder make IdrA look like the politest man in the world. The last "gg" I received was combined with a "fu**er". Plus, i actually dont feel like a part of a community. We play the same game, but I dont feel a "together" at all. Could be a personal thing though. The last point I want to mention is viewers on streams, being the community. The chats of a large number of streams reflects a massive immaturity, being filled with trolls and offending people, not representing that much of a support to esports. So I think IdrA criticizing the community is a good move to me, cause he's one of the few ones that mentions that without fearing to lose money cause a part of that "community" could stop "supporting" esports by bringing money to the companies. I hope he gets a new team that at least in some way still believes in the spirit of esports, not the spirit of money. Cause thats the impression I got from EG the last months and finally with this act. So let me finish this post with a final example of how grown up the community is. ( I hope the picture is fine, please delete if someone has a problem with it )

Is there a summary of events somewhere? I got the feeling from tweets and stuff around his WCS NA performance that something had happened, but I don't actually know what happened.

Edit: Nvm, answered right above me :D

i'd rather this be a community of few hardcore well mannered people rather than hordes and hordes of bm encouraging/loving children.

possibility losing popularity in eu/am by ridding of "bm"?

i couldnt care less, i can survive with proleague and korean casting alone.

I wonder if IdrA leaving the scene would have a noticeable negative impact on the SC2 viewership.
Well, now I tell you, I never seen good come o' goodness yet. Him as strikes first is my fancy; dead men don't bite; them's my views--amen, so be it.

Yeah I'm not sure whether to laugh or not. League of Legends community is a subreddit which is about 50x times more toxic then TL then include the players inside the game.

On-topic: I actually really believed this thread was a troll even after reading the OP. Man was I shocked

Every post i've seen so far that hates EG for this has been like 1-10 post count people, what the hell is going on
