If a sponsor/team isn't on top of this they should be firing their head hunters.
you're wrong to analyze it the way you are - this does not imply that idra should be hired in a new team- this means that people are commenting/watching on the 'event' itself unfold. there are many people in this thread -if you reaed it carefully- (just like me) who are supporting th fact that EG finally released someone who has been acting as a dick, has been disrespectful and has not put up any results. idra at this point is just like destiny - a guy with a niche of hardcore fans who follow him, but that's about it. he can probably make an OK living streaming.. from a talent pov he's got nothing.. and from the "personality" stand point, 90% of the community is fed up by him. Funny how Destiny gets more viewers on his LOL stream that 95% of the starcraft streamers...It seems to pay to have hardcore fans These are two different genres of games. LOL itself has a much higher viewerbase than SC2. You can't compare the two.
The funniest thing is when Destiny plays SC2 he gets MORE viewers then he does when he plays LoL.

A really really really important person of Esports is otw to retire i think ... Iam so sad! I watched IdrA years ago in broodwar and i still like him very much ... he says what he thinks and thats good! Idra have many viewers and i suppose 80% of the viewer are his fans and not on the stream to see him raging.
I hope your come back it would be terrible if u rentire ..( for the whole esport ) It would be nice if IdrA goes the way to a professional caster Get a new team fucker!!!

It shows they care more about preserving image then some extra money idra might bring in through advertisements. What line did he cross? He has been doing this for years and its exactly why people love/hate him. Not every player should be all respectful and gentleman like. That makes the game boring, I like watching people play starcraft but I also like seeing personality in the players that play starcraft. If you are going to have a variety of personality then you are obviously going to get some villian types like idra. How boring would a batman movie be without a villian?
This isn't a movie. These aren't fake emotions. This isn't acting. Based on his behavior the past few years it's quite hard to call him anything other than a cynical asshole. Would you watch all the Batman movies if Batman sat there every 10 minutes and called you a stupid fuck? Called you a loser, cheeser, telling the designer of the movie he should take a tire iron up the ass? No, you wouldn't. If this was a movie it'd be fine. But this is who he actually is. Whether or not you like it you need to act professional when in public. You can't just go around "shitting" on people. There are repercussions. He now has to face them.

User was temp banned for this post. and suggested that he gets paid by EG to insult the community. That's unconscionable for EG. Just wondering, but where was this posted? Here: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=411483¤tpage=4#73
Thank you!
Even though IdrA is not the kind of person you'd feel sympathy for i still think that this is quite a loss. Obviously i don't know what IdrA has up his sleeves, but i would not be surprised to see him retire any day now for several reasons. First i'm not sure which kind of team would pick him up at this point. He is notoriously bad mannered and he haven't had the results to back it up lately. Honestly he feels more like a community figure such as incontrol than an actual pro player. Even though his stream has decent viewer count (to say the least) i doubt it is enough to make a living off in the long run.
Furthermore he is 23 years old now. If he ever wants to get en education and start living a normal life, it's about time.
|
Not shocking, you can only act like he did if you can back it up with winning. Still, pretty interesting move. They both had a lot to do with building each other up.

IdrA deserves every bad thing because just for lulz..
with that said, in seriousness, EG is a fucking stupid company to ever exists. They banned stephano for no reason once. And now they ban idra who ohhh said something mean to the fans. who gives a fuck. no one takes it seriously. he still got views and brought in people. His streams had good commentary.
What is surprizing is why does EG have fucking incontrol on their payroll? the guy does nothing for the company, for sc, or for himself. just sitting there like a fat fuck. I will not be surprized if anna prosser leaves the fat fuck for good in 1-2 years - has no job and plays video games hes not even good at.
and idra needs to go to korea and actaully fucing do something. compete and train with ACTUAL sc2 pros. not losers like the ones in Eg house

I think most people would agree with you about kicking someone when they're down, but we're talking about Idra, someone who has benefited at the expense of other people's feelings whenever possible - he's made a very wealthy living doing so. Greg doesn't need sympathy or pity, he's made a lot of money, he'll continue to make a lot of money, and I doubt he cares about anyone's feelings about this because he seemingly lacks basic empathy. He's made a lot of money in eSports terms, no doubt, but saying that he's made a "very wealthy living" off BW and SC2 is going a bit far ... Greg has been a wealthy salary relative to other Starcraft II players, relative to other gamers, even relative to the average American worker. Greg's salary is very high. How much was his monthly salary from EG? Incontrol on SOTG said he didn't want to say how much Idra made, but he said he would 'ballpark it' and then gave the example of a contract of $4,000 - $6,000 a money.
He said that about money Idra would be asking from other teams now that he's let go from EG. And that a team wouldn't pay Idra that amount of money just to sit at home and stream, but they might pay him that amount of money to go to Korea and actually be a professional player with actual responsibilities.

FOR EVERYONE WONDERING WHAT EG MEANT ABOUT BEING DISRESPECTFUL TO THE COMMUNITY

maybe his father will now un-disown him LOL

I support the decision, but I agree that it was poor timing, with Incontrol on SotG, etc. Could've been done in a smoother fashion, I think.

He crossed the line when he stopped producing results while still insulting the community.
You can be a dick who wins Or you can be a nice guy who loses
When you a dick who loses--its hard to get people's sympathy.

Well, this breaks SC2 as I know it. I mean, I don't even like the guy, but him on EG was just... how it works.

I think leaving the Polt game was the line he crossed. It's like when Naniwa probe rushed in the Blizzard cup, which blew up and cost him a Code S seed. It doesn't only show disrespect for the opponent, but for all the viewers and fans as well. It's one thing to be BM, another to not even pretend to take the game seriously.

Would like to see Idra be his own team and pick up some sponsors.

Even Though I haven't played SC2 for Over a Year, i still feel really sad. Idra was One of the Players that sparked my interest in the Game in 2010 and 2011. Him leaving against MMA was still the Most Heartbreaking Moment i had in any Game (i saw it live and had to go on a Walk to cool Off). I still follow the scene and watch the Big tournaments, but i thought it was Just idra being idra. Now that he is realeased i doubt he will Swing back. Even Though i'm Super depressed , I wish Him the best of luck whatever he'll be doing.
Sorry for the random captiliazation. German autocorrect
