I am pretty sure Chill is more aware of idra's situation than you.

Fire IdrA for the "You don't reward results, you reward drama. You're all fucks." comment? That sounds just weird, it's exactly the thing that makes IdrA IdrA and there was no serious backlash. Just the couple of usual people hating on IdrA.

So this sounds like an excuse. If the relationship between IdrA and EG wasn't working, then you should provide the genuine reason. Granted, there is more information being released on SotG.

No one cared about that comment until the Polt games.

you're wrong to analyze it the way you are -

this does not imply that idra should be hired in a new team- this means that people are commenting/watching on the 'event' itself unfold.

there are many people in this thread -if you reaed it carefully- (just like me) who are supporting th fact that EG finally released someone who has been acting as a dick, has been disrespectful and has not put up any results.

idra at this point is just like destiny - a guy with a niche of hardcore fans who follow him, but that's about it.
he can probably make an OK living streaming.. from a talent pov he's got nothing.. and from the "personality" stand point, 90% of the community is fed up by him.

Funny how Destiny gets more viewers on his LOL stream that 95% of the starcraft streamers...It seems to pay to have hardcore fans

Thank god, finally a reaction to his.

It's funny how you think it's to what he said and not because his antics no longer provided value to the team. It had very little to do with THIS specific incident. EG would never let him go if he brought tons of eyes to their sponsors.

But ... burning a person publicly in this way is not just as ugly, it is in fact evil.

I highly doubt they fired him solely because of what he's done/said to opponents and people in the community. There were most likely internal issues too with him being so immature. I am actually surprised EG put up with his bullshit this long. That is a true miracle.

This is probably true, I admit. But the official burning is still disgraceful.

Cost (high) + Results (low) - bad publicity (high) + good publicity (high)

His publicity breaks about even. He has lots of fans, but he is a PR nightmare

im sad to see this happen to idra. hopefully this is one of those growing situations for him and the community. and weather you like him or not there is no point to kick him while he's down. saying you're happy about him getting kicked and he deserves it doesn't accomplish anything except making yourself look like a dick at someone misfortune.

I think most people would agree with you about kicking someone when they're down, but we're talking about Idra, someone who has benefited at the expense of other people's feelings whenever possible - he's made a very wealthy living doing so. Greg doesn't need sympathy or pity, he's made a lot of money, he'll continue to make a lot of money, and I doubt he cares about anyone's feelings about this because he seemingly lacks basic empathy.

He's made a lot of money in eSports terms, no doubt, but saying that he's made a "very wealthy living" off BW and SC2 is going a bit far ...

Greg has been a wealthy salary relative to other Starcraft II players, relative to other gamers, even relative to the average American worker. Greg's salary is very high.

How much was his monthly salary from EG?

Incontrol on SOTG said he didn't want to say how much Idra made, but he said he would 'ballpark it' and then gave the example of a contract of $4,000 - $6,000 a money.

I can imagine his Ted talk now

I am in physics. The attitude IdrA has does not mix well with our field. If he brings that and expects to get a degree he will get little else other than that. Physics you need healthy relationships with other physicists in order to succeed.

Imagine having taken a huge risk to to go a foreign country, given up college and an education, spent all of your adult life doing something and suddenly having that go away.

It's pretty freaky to think about. Who knows what he will end up doing but esports is too ephemeral a living to make for the vast majority of people.

These are two different genres of games. LOL itself has a much higher viewerbase than SC2. You can't compare the two.

crap, now I have to change my favorite team logo..
Its weird to see this happen. He was one of the guys who introduced me to Starcraft, and Ive been his biggest fan since, so its tough to see this happen. Kind of like watching your favorite athlete grow old and retire. Makes you realize how things change and how old your getting. I remember watching him and Jinro when they were the best, and now that seems like forever ago.
I hope this is a place for him to start turning his career around, but his personality just doesnt have me holding my breath. Hopefully im wrong.
Whatever you do Greg, Good Luck and Have Fun.

This statement right here is the reason he said he was being BM to begin with. People do not watch for skill, they watch for entertainment. You, just watching for the BM actually contributed to the BM by pouring more gasoline on the fire.

But you need results if you are going to do the BM personality. It's fine to create drama and have good results at tournaments. But when you are basically not top 16 NA anymore, and have continued hatred for the game, your business strategy will go downhill. In then end, you still need to have good showings and tournament placements.

Stephano calling BK out for crappy play is justified because he's Stephano. He can back it up since he still top 2/3 zerg in EU. Besides Stephano is not fake, likes to create drama, he is honest but he has to make sure to not step over the line

Surprised, yet not surprised. IdrA's head just hasn't been in the game for awhile. If he'd lighten up and enjoy himself just a touch, he'd have done so much better.
