Liquid has too many zergs, so it just wouldn't be a good fit. Also, is there still a Zenio-Idra rivalry? Acer could be a good fit, but ultimately, I think there will be an individual sponsorship ala MC / Naniwa unless EG chooses to re-enlist him after tempers cool down and people figure out a plan to help Idra manage how the frustration he's feeling now.

This must have been a hard step for you, Alex and EG staff, but it was the right one.
Idra has crossed many boundaries in the past, but this one is the one he should not have crossed.

I actually kind of agree with him, which is why i largely fell out of love with "esports" when it became clear that kespa's BW league was going down. The same is true for LoL, people make more money playing a character that viewers enjoy than they do by playing the game well. "esports" is more like pro wrestling than a legitimate sporting competition.

In all honesty I think IdrA could end up becoming a really powerful player again. He proved before that he is capable of immersing himself into the game and producing great results. Maybe his playing environment and habits the past 1-2yr have been very suboptimal for his training. Maybe if he goes to a new team he can reset his work ethic and turn it around. What if he went to a Korean team, impossible as it sounds? Maybe a transformed Idra in a competitive, workhorse training environment could be a great player again

And remember this, Idra was living the good life. An EG salary is quite generous and it was probably especially generous in 2011 when Idra was getting some results. This compared to the vast majority of players including Koreans (basically every single ESF player) that do not get a paycheck, grind on a strict schedule every day, and live or die based on tournament winnings. Idra had every opportunity afforded to him and blew every single one.

In the end, even EG had to let him go, not because of any moral compunction (or they would've fired him over a year ago) but more likely than not, a bunch of sponsors threatened to leave. Nothing else could explain the sudden rush to get rid of Idra. His career is dead except for the pittance he will get from streaming to 3000 malcontents on twitch because that's basically his only option now (give it some time).

If this was due to more than one thing over an extended period of time, EG should have dealt with it internally before now. Like the falling out with demuslim - no way should that have been allowed to go on for as long as it has. Idra (and demuslim) should have been ordered to cut it out, but from the outside it doesn't seem like they ever were.

Pretty sure this is bad for both Idra and EG - they'll both be worse off without each other. I also don't think it's great for SC2's popularity in the long run.
