Dreamhack will likely be ace, but it will suffer in a lot of ways, as will teams suffer because their travelling expenses go up, while there's going to be little media (sponsorship) coverage for their players due to the huge amount of players. 16-24 players with mixed origin and background is the ideal number. I guess we don't want E-Sports growing in terms of production, coverage quality and prize money as fast as it could be growing. Since Dreamhack doesn't run a qualifier system for these events it would be quite hard to organize an open tournament for everyone with just max 24 players. I also really like these kind of big tournaments in general. And most tournaments have stopped doing invites by now btw.

I dont understand how someone with over 1k posts still doesn't know Dreamhack doesn't invite anyone. It's a open, so who registers can come as long as there are spots left. And making Dreamhack into a 16/24 max tournaments would be the dumbest thing ever. Its now the only tournament thats 100% open until the final event and its doing pretty good when you see the players list.

Everything is becoming invite only these days which is pretty lame in my book when it comes to establishing talent. I'm not a fan of what MLG is doing and I'm not a fan of this either, which DH has been doing for a lot longer format wise.
