aw man, sad news. i watched asd streaming quite often. while he was no gumiho, he definitely entertained with his play. best of luck to all of them in their future endeavors.

Was an avid watcher of asd's stream, sad to see them go. Is it because of the ever growing skillcap with all these KeSPA players joining, or is it the harsh nature of running eSports bussinesses? Leenock is the Zerg variant of MarineKingPrime, very skillfull and entertaining to watch games.

Good luck to them in the future. I only knew of asd but forgot about his existence.

Some people have been pointing out that they quit because the scene is over-saturated with good players (even more so since the Kespa have returned to claim their birthright). I mean if you gamble your entire career on qualifying for just ONE tournament (GSL) then good luck and have fun. This is why the Proleague format is the best. You don't see players quit just because they fail to qualify for individual leagues since there's always the PL to fall back on (that plus a stable salary). If anyone is even to blame then it should be GOM since they had 2+ years to make SC2 progamer a viable career (and they kind of failed).

Brace yourselves because we'll see a lot more players retiring in the near future as well (with majority of them being non-Kespa, that's for sure).

is this becuase they didn't get through the code A qualifiers? i mean, it why would they try to qualify, knowing they were going to retire?

I think so, FXOTear said in his interview he would have retired if he didn't pass those preliminaries

Not surprized. I expect to see alot more players retiring especially in Korea. Alot of the middle tier players are gonna get shoved out of their places by the kespa dudes. No matter what said and done, gotta give it to the kespa guys for catching up so damn quickly.

I'll be honest I really didn't know much about Whale or Sirius; But asd I really did enjoy your games and you will be missed.

GL in whatever you three decide to pursue now.

Well, they reached the point where they realized that Code B players cannot pay a home if you see it on a long term. So they moved on to earn money. E-sports is still a sport where only the best can live from - not every player makes 300k USD in 2 years, such as MC did (don't blame me if I misstook 10k or 20k dollars .

We as fans know that, sponsors and teams know that, and the fact that people stop playing esports on a professional level should be another motivation for organizers, team managers etc. to work even harder to push e-sports to even higher levels!

A german football player, playing in the "Dritte Bundesliga" which kinda would be code B in SC2 can still live from is salary without too hard problems. I'm so hoping we will get this status also into e-sports among the next ten or twenty years...

Only Leenock and Gumiho now?
Regarding the imbalance, hilarious to see Zergs defending themselves....
