This isn't to say Parting is a nicer person than Squirtle or Squirtle is a boring guy, but Parting's personality is more marketable than Squirtle's. He markets himself well in interviews, takes over events with his ceremonies, and he's an engaging personality that draws fans to him.

Damn, first Parting, now Squirtle? ST's Protoss lineup taking a huge blow.

First Parting, now Squirtle. PZ StarTale D:

Does this open up more money for ST to pick up the ton of Korean free agents right now? It's not a complete loss as I imagine they are not hurting for money.

Virus! There's been surprisingly little speculation about where Squirtle's going now. Given that he didn't resign with ST due to money, Kespa seems a likely answer, although I don't know what other teams would have a higher budget than StarTale.
Virus retired.

Probably already been said, but this is looking mighty like TSL.

What in the actual fuck.....

well, one reason i can think of is the upcoming switch to hots. most esf players were b-teamers in bw, while the current roster of most kespa teams consists of bw a-teamers. therefore, i think it is not too unreasonable to speculate that the talent of kespa players is, on average, higher than on esf teams, but this was countered in WoL by the experience advantage the esf players had over the kespa ones. with hots mixing the metagame up completely, the esf players will lose their edge and might very well be superseded by kespa players. thus, it might be tactically smart to try to secure a new, more well-paying contract as an esf player while one is at the height of one's relative/comparative skill (compared to the skill of the entirety of other sc2 pros).
still sad to hear. if the player drain for startale stops after this, they can probably recover quite easily. if, however, even one more st player leaves, ill switch to the "the way of tsl"-camp. lets hope for the best.

Not even close. TSL players left because of conflicts with their coach, which isn't happening right now. ST is also in a far better financial situation than TSL was ever in. Just because they lost two key players doesn't mean ST will go the way of TSL. They still got Life, Curious, Hack and Bomber, along with a supporting cast of decent Code A/B players.

You're absolutely right, but I just don't like the way how this whole community talks about personality and stuff like this. There are like a million posts on TL stating something like "Man, them stupid Koreans have like no personality at all. They are so boring, I mean it's not that hard to have a personality.". Imo it's really rude and even kinda heartless to talk about a persons charakter in such a calculating manner. But I guess that's the internet... I'm just curious if Kespa even cares about personality that much. Afaik they don't really depend on streams, fan interviews and public stuff like this, that requires a personality like Partings, in the way foreign teams do. Or do I have a completely wrong picutre of them?
So pretty much as expected? ST probably offered them a really good salary, just not as much as Kespa teams can. It's understandable that they want to secure as much money as they can right now, but still kinda sad, because Esf looks really crippled right now.

This is sorta odd. I thought they were happy with their conditions at ST...

No... NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. My favorite korean team because of my favorite protosses. My day. Ruined.

That sucks a lot StarTale lost 2 of my favorite players in such a short time. Not to throw you under the bus or anything AcE, but remember that time you won an IEM? You, uh, you think you still remember how to do that?
