He was, without a doubt, one of the best Brood War players of all time. He won 3 OSL titles, two MSL titles, two WCG Korea titles, and a WCG World Championship. His rivalry with Flash is possibly the greatest in the history of StarCraft. Now, he has transitioned to StarCraft 2. The Tyrant has come, and those who oppose him shall be swept aside. Lee “Jaedong” Jae Dong is one of the newest players on the Evil Geniuses roster, and recently made his EG debut during the SPL season opener against KT Rolster. Excitement and expectations are high for this Brood War giant. Evilgeniuses.net’s Michael “Achilles” Dorrill recently got a chance to talk with Jaedong about his transition to StarCraft 2, Heart of the Swarm, and his recent results!
Achilles - Evil Geniuses is replacing the Air Force team in Proleague this season. What does losing ACE mean, from your perspective as a progamer, for the Korean eSports scene?
Jaedong - It is very regrettable, but there’s nothing we can do about it because it has been decided by the government. Now my army duty exemption has been made unclear, so it will probably affect my progaming lifespan.
Achilles - EG lost its first game in Proleague 4-0. How is the team reacting to this defeat, and how well will they perform during the rest of the season?
Jaedong - Everyone had just moved into the teamhouse and we were lacking in practice and preparation. The season is long and we will have to slowly build up our pace. The mood in the teamhouse is great.
The streaming will be bad for JaeDong i feel...either he'll show all his planned builds and will be sniped in GSL/OSL/ProLeague due to that or he'll use builds that he won't use in tournaments making it a complete and utter waste of practice time and playing HOTS will be even more of a waste as no tournament even plays HOTS atm and Blizzard is changing the game every few weeks with patches which will make strategy's not effective which results in more wasted practice time.

I think he'll just play an hour or 2 of HOTS every once in awhile. That's pretty much what TaeJa has been doing. It's pretty rare to catch him in a stream session :-P

Also sad about the Airforce... hopefully he at least gets the full year with EG.
I really hope to see Jaedong winning a LOT of SC2 in the future... he deserves it. + Show Spoiler +
Just not tonight against Bbyong because of my fantasy team
He is going to be with EG for 1 year.
edit; I assume you're referring to the initial statement where if Team8 gets a sponsor he switches back - if so, that was a misunderstanding and is not true
Achilles - The GSL has announced that it will switch over to Heart of the Swarm right after the expansion launches. How will you prepare for the new expansion?
Jaedong - I will get into it gradually. When I start streaming, I want to try playing a lot of Heart of the Swarm.
"I want to thank EG’s sponsors RaidCall, Intel Extreme Boards, SteelSeries, Monster Energy, Kingston HyperX, Sapphire, Beyond Gaming, and In Win for their great support!"
Did JaeDong really name them all or was he like "I want to thank sponsors" and then someone names them for him? I kind of doubt JaeDong has them all memorised this recently.
Great to hear that Jaedong will start streaming. Also very glad that the mood in the teamhouse is great.
Thanks for the interview, wish it was bit longer though.

"It’s very difficult to adjust myself to the easier interface and different play styles. It’s still difficult, and to be perfect will be a hard task, but I am going to slowly work on it. I am going to pull it off no matter what."
This is why I love him so much, the relentless determination to succeed. Those were always the most magical moments in BW for me, watching Jaedong claw and drag his way back into winning games that seemed lost, by sheer bloody-minded refusal to accept the possibility of defeat.

..Did they edit that in recently? I swear when I first read the interview I didn't see that. Perhaps I'm just oblivious
I'm pretty excited to see him stream HotS. And I think even if its just for a few hours a week or whatever will be good for when both GSL and Proleague transition to it after its release.
Achilles - What things in Wings of Liberty would you like to see changed in Heart of the Swarm?
Jaedong - I wish that a wider variety of units will be made necessary to use so that some boring aspects of the game can be improved and overall make the game more interesting.
OHHH JD streaming... Jaedong interview nice Stuff!!! A question to Achilles hopefully someone from EG reads it: Will there be some kind of coverage or look behinde the scenes in the pro house? I am really interested since they are practicing for PL its something different and probably also difficult but I think it would be very interesting to see. EG TL fighting!

They paraphrased I assume. -_- What's all this talk about sweeping? No one should fear him at the moment. He has oodles of work to do. Stephano is going to have to the whip the boy in shape when he gets there in January.

Once the Korean military calls, he has to go no matter what.

If the interview happened on Skype, then he could very easily have had the EG webpage open and just read them off.

I think 8 names is probably manageable for one of the smartest players to ever touch the game of Starcraft...
Jaedong: It is very regrettable, but there’s nothing we can do about it because it has been decided by the government. Now my army duty exemption has been made unclear, so it will probably affect my pro-gaming lifespan.
hmm...

Starcraft 2 went really far in just 1 year.
It also says something about how horrendously Jaedong has been playing.
