Wax, how long have you followed bw? You know this wasn't Rain's decision. This is 100% Kespa's decision. Gom knows it's not Rain's fault. He's just following orders.

noone is pissed at rain, most people are pissed at kespa because of this.
Plenty of people are posting saying that they hope he gets knocked out of MLG in the open bracket.
those are mostly Rain haters using this as an excuse, noone with a straight mind and unbiased view will blame rain for this

ie) all decisions/communications are described as coming from SKT's side
This is an interesting point. I wonder who really made the mistake here.

Well pardon me for saying, but that doesn't exclude the possibility that the original "suggestion" came from KESPA to SKT.

I... What. I don't even know what to say to this.
I wasn't even going to post in this thread but I can't believe someone say that forfeiting a GSL code S seed isn't a big deal. What are you even thinking?!

Do you think he woke up one morning, saw a cowboy hat outside his window, and went, 'Damn, I really wanna go to Dallas now!' If he wanted to play in the open bracket so badly, he could have told GOM a few days before and probably switched his group to one of the last. I'm curious if Polt asked for his group to be early or late so he could go to MLG or if it just worked out that way.
I think I remember reading days ago that he wanted to attend. Wouldn't be surprised if Rain hoped to qualify via the MvP invitational and, after he was knocked out on the 21st, approached SKT1 with his desire to attend. Add a few days of KeSPA/GOM looking for a way to make the schedule work, and you more or less end up in the present.
Naturally I'm speculating a bit, but I don't think there's some nefarious plot going on by anyone.
Rain got knocked out on the 21st. The gom statement says Kespa only informed Gom of his decision to attend on the 29th, which is clearly not enough time to reschedule, since you would be moving players up who thought they were playing next week on such short notice.
Yes, I said all this. I said Rain was knocked out on the 21st, and to add a few days for schedule checking (i.e. 29th, 30th, 31st) and you end up at the present. It was only a week between Rain's being knocked out and SKT1's request to GOM. We don't have any details as to when Rain first approached SKT1 about his desire to attend the open bracket. For all we know, he could have sat on it for a few days before deciding to give it a serious shot.
Either way, it's not like we're dealing with KeSPA withholding this information for weeks just to screw GOM over or something.

Well, the team certainly made things awkward when they waited until the 29th to ask for a reschedule. It's also possible they had no idea he was even going to have a chance to go to MLG until then, though. This whole situation just seems like a case of unfortunate timing, too many things coming together all at once, and something had to give.

who the fuck are rain haters? people really hate the best protoss in the world? maybe they are mad that him or his team just fucked over the GSL
Thinking with a clear head, I guess it's fair to say that this was either SKT management's or Kespa's fault. Hope Rain doesn't get too much of the blame. Instead, I hope he plays with a clear head and wins MLG anyway.
I'm surprised no one has mentioned the KeSPA/MLG "exclusivity" deal. Might that preclude a KeSPA player from attending the GSL finals, at IPL? Just an idea...

Well, there were Flash haters back in the day. It's not unreasonable to think there are Rain haters too.
