But if he honestly forfeited his Code S seed for a CHANCE at winning $25,000 and having to go ALL THE WAY THROUGH THE OPEN BRACKET, then he might be the best player in the world, but not the best decision maker. Hopefully GSL does what they did with (other)Rain and suspend him for a season. Rain was one of the GSL's main stars after S4 and could have been a reason why a lot of people bought a ticket.
I guess making a big name for himself in America is a good move, and he does have WCS Global Finals also this month that he might have put more priority on than Code S, but it seems like a foolish move. If he was in group play, I can maybe see it, but what happens if he rolls MC in the OB, loses a PvP and then has to win 30 matches in a row to even make Championship Sunday?
Edit: I just realized this is the second time in history a player has given up their Code S seed willingly. BOTH WERE NAMED RAIN. I thought they suspended Rain for a year not a season. And Idra also gave up Code S willingly, so 3 players? I think hes talking about giving it up to play for MLG, because i know Sen forfeited his spot for Code S too :S sen forfeited a code a/updown spot

Adam is a passionate guy and tends to get pretty defensive of MLG, I don't think he really deserves any grief for it
|
Nah, wasn't saying he deserves grief, was just saying that he's always defensive, so it's nothing new from him. I kind of even defended him when I said it was because he was frustrated with how any things he needs to fix.

Less exposure for them. Less chance to win with their best player out of the tournament. Well, I'm guessing they're targeting a large foreign fanbase now that SC2 hasn't taken off so quickly in Korea. From a business standpoint, going to MLG is logical but somewhat risky because if Rain gets taken out during the Open Bracket, it would be really embarrassing for both Kespa and SKT. Kespa is already sending 4 guys to MLG, Flash included. They will be the talk of the town regardless of Rain being there or not.
That's true. I guess it's also because Rain is the current OSL champion and got to the Ro4 of GSL last season, giving him a monster reputation.

Asking for a schedule change two days before the tournament .......

Why are people going so ape shit? So there were scheduling conflicts it sucks but it happens...

Boxer is a coach of SKT T1, he no longer runs the team like he did back in the day nor does he have a position similar to what he had to hold with Jessica in SlayerS.

Hope he wrecks through the entire MLG field (not unlikely) and crushes some fools in U/D matches and wins Code S next season.
All fair-weather fans, this is your stop, so get your flimsy asses of the bus :D
LMAO this is a golden post and I completely agree.
The community will surely blow this out of proportion, you can already see it in this thread with people jumping to the most cynical conclusions possible. This was clearly a decision on the part of either SKT1 or Rain himself, not Kespa being sinister and conspiring to fuck GOM over. That's just a drama queen assumption, plain and simple.

Some people are trying to paint it worse than it actually is. Obviously, he wanted to do both. Gom tried to accomodate but they couldn't, because he informed them too late. This is unfortunate and ultimately Rain's fault (as a KT fan, I'm just gonna blame SKT here), but not some conspiracy by Kespa to bring down GSL.

Either that or he receives a seed. If Rain fails to secure Code S for next season through Code A/Up&Downs I don't see any way of him receiving a sponsor seed after forfeiting his spot this season. Unless he takes MLG. Still, winning from the open bracket? I hope he pulls a Leenock to justify his decision to completely ditch Code S. Even if he wins OSL, WCS Global Finals and somehow wins a Nobel Prize, giving a sponsored seed to a player who FORFEITED THE RIGHT to be in Code S should not happen. GOM would kill to have the hottest player in the world AND also one of the hottest KeSPA player in Code S. Im just afraid GOM is that desperate Same reason why theres no punishment for this action

I think everybody understands that it's a sick move for MLG. As I said it's amazing that Rain is a MLG because the more you see the star players play the better. Bring Bisu, Zero and Stork, Hell get Savior back, sign up Artosis in pool play and get Day9 to play with his toes I'll freakin pay for that stuff. But people have right to be pissed that it means Rain doesnt play in GSL because people wanna see Rain and having him playing at MLG when he's not playing in GSL doesn't mean that they willl get to see him play more.
But MLG didn't do anything wrong so why trying to transfer the shit they aren't actually getting to GSL just for not being able to change their schedule after they already started the round and their schedule has been established.

I was gonna stay up to watch but then I saw this... Oh well. It's gon' RAIN in Dallas now!

LOL! JYP has found a legitimate way to get rid of Protoss competition for himself.
Anyway, my mind's much calmer now, I hope this situation gets fixed between Gom and Kespa but I hope Rain TEARS IT UP and WINS!

This is what Adam said when Rain's attendance at Dallas was first announced:

This is Rain's decision and that is completely fine. He's a young kid and he wants to experience the thrill of being cheered on by foreign fans. We as fans should support him in that rather than bring intense public scrutiny on this whole ordeal, since that would surely get him bummed and not in an ideal state of mind for playing at Dallas.

The amount of By.Sun hate and Kespa bashing is ridiculous.
People wanted elephants. People wanted more tournaments.
Eventually they might discover that some of those other tournaments might be more worthwhile to participate in. As mentioned, going to America is a pretty big thing for the KeSPA players. Isn't that what people want in MLG anyway?
It's SKT. Pretty sure they can do whatever they want. And By.Sun/SKT wouldn't have pulled out if they weren't confident that he'd be able to re-qualify for Code S again.
Cut the kid some slack. He's only doing what people want of him. And that includes seeing him play in America. Do you really want to see the new hope of Protoss not make it through the open bracket?

This is a great point and I feel a little guilty at my own reaction. Still, I was so excited for the games later.
