good decision by Rain. He has a better shot at winning MLG, and whats most important MLG isn't one month tournament. He will train hard, play for three days and then relax
Its grack

It's obvious that it's an amazing thing for a player (and a young person) to be able to travel abroad so you can't blame him.
Kespa/SKT management on the other hand...fuck them, they could have done that the proper way by just telling GOM soon enough they could reschedule, but no, every time they can take a stab at GOM they'll do it. They're so bad for the scene, are the managers of SKT 12 year old for doing petty things like that ?

Oh no! This really sucks... Just as much as I distrust KeSPA, I think we should consider that it would be profitable if Rain had a bit of time to get used to the extensive traveling that he will do in the future. We should be in his shoes for once before we play the blame game.

Good point. Pretty sure TL will do that, otherwise lots and lots of ppl will get their LiquidBet wrong lol

And finally we have a definitive answer to why Rain went to MLG..... trolling LiquidBet + Show Spoiler +
(and on the side: visiting US/attending 2nd foreign lan/easier money)
is much more important than GSL.

Agreed. This seems way too obvious they are trying to screw GOM over. The best thing for Rain is to have him play in both and as many tournaments as possible by notifying GOM earlier....but nope!

I've never seen anything this stupid.

First of all I dont know why Adam feels so butthurt on twitter. I actually havent read any bitching about MLG being assholes in all this.

That said what doesn't make sense at all is why the hell did rain/rain's management didn't say he was going to MLG? I mean MLG have all the reasons to get Rain to go to their event. He's the main attraction in SC2 right now. Gom obviously want to see Rain play in their tournament because he's one of the 3 favorites to win it all. Rain has all the rights to go to MLG because it's gonna be a sick event, he's getting to see foreign fans, he will be treated like a king, he will get the sickest ovation whenever he's in the building and he has a chance to make a shit ton of money.

That said just don't freakin announce it when you're halfway into the first round of code S holy f*ck! Seriously that's just retarded.

Let's say in the NFL the Cowboys are suppose to host a game on Sunday afternoon and on wednesday they call the NFL and they are like oh wait we just signed a deal with Justin Bieber we booked two shows one on Saturday and one on Sunday. Sorry Mr. Goodell I think we should re-schedule our game next week we have a bye week. OH WAIT I didn't look at the other team schedule and they are playing another game next week. OHOHOHOHO SORRY I guess they can't really play 2 games in the same week-end can they?

Just how fucking retarded is this. Why are people so dumb? In the end it's just people watching starcraft trying to see the best player compete as often as possible that pays the price. Do I want Rain to absolutely destroy MLG and show the best game possible? YESSSSSS!!! Holy moly yes I do if you're asking again. Do I want Rain to play with a week of preparation against 32 of the 40-45 best players in the world in GSL. If you're asking me that question as well. Well... YES I DO! Thanks for asking.

But why does it have to be so retarded that it has to be one or the other? The more Rain plays the better it is for Starcraft in general because there are maybe 5-10 players at his skill level and none of them has the appeal Rain has these days.

Starcraft stop being so retarded please STOP!

I can't see this as a bad thing. Remember how many GSL players previously would forfeit code S spots just to travel? Its a good experience for the players and in this case its KeSPA getting out. KeSPA getting global is good for eSports.

Definitely not a "F*ck the GSL and eSF" move by Rain, he probably wanted to play abroad.

In the history of the GSL, I believe only four players have forfeited Code S.

Idra, Rain, Coca and Rain. Coca was forced to forfeit.

ZeNEXLiveForever forfeited his Code S spot back in 2011 (second ever code s maybe?) due to military service. There was a wildcard tournament which Polt won for his spot.

People need to note and remember that SKT1 literally told GOM about this two days ago. That's the main reason I think this isn't just a simple schedule conflict, this is an intentional effort by someone to screw up the GSL. What's the excuse otherwise? "oh yeah we totally forgot about his date in the most important SC2 tournament, silly us!" I don't think so...

Well, once he got knocked out of MvP on the 21st, it probably took about a week to make sure he was even gonna have a chance to go. With travel visa shit, accommodations, making sure MLG would have even had a spot for him, etc etc. There would have been no need to ask GOM to reschedule until they were absolutely sure. And really, if they couldn't sort it out in 2 days, another few days notice would likely not have made much difference.

This is pretty sick, he's going to MLG. I was going to stay up for GSL tonight, but Rain was the only reason why I was going to watch it . Also, I doubt anyone will knock him out of the open bracket, but I guess you never know =P.

Yeah Kespa showing who is the real boss. Fair enough , they've earned it.

I think Kespa is the best thing to happen to SC2, they juts up the bar as the weeks roll on , love it.

RAIN and other Kepsa players imo are the most fascinating RTS players on the planet.

Looks like Kepsa has truly arrived in SC2. xD

No one needs to get their panties in a bunch over one season of GSL. This kid is probably dying to hear the foreign fan cheering for him because you know what? Every Korean player who has experienced has said it was absolutely amazing, probably one of the best moments of their progaming career. They also say that they get jealous of other Korean players when they're the ones getting the attention on stage. It's quite possible this is Rain's decision, and that is completely fine because the (18 year old) kid wants to experience a thrill like he never has before.

Besides one season of GSL lacking rain is not going to ruin its legitimacy or viewership. That's just people trying to make something into a big deal for drama purposes. Life will go on boys and girls.

And make no mistake, given Rain's current hype the crowd at Dallas will go bonkers for him. I'm goin to be there myself, traveling from PA for my first esports event. Knowing that the people who show up to events and cheer on the players are not the ones who cynically post on the forums jumping to conclusions and blowing things out of proportion, I will most definitely be cheering on Rain too.

Adam is always insanely defensive on twitter. I'm not sure why, I feel like he knows about MLGs shortcomings and wants to fix them but can't so he gets defensive about everything.

At least it's one less protoss in the GSL =D GSL is still the most interesting tournament because it's not ZvZvPvP land (yet).

Hey guys, does this mean Rain will be dropping to Code A as if he had lost all his Code S games or is he out of the GSL entirely?

Tongue in cheek I know, but I do agree that the scene will be more spicier with competing superpowers of the entire scene. I really think KESPA will eventually fail, but I'll watch from afar. More interesting than some foreigners' interest in underage females.
