Although, of course, saddened and disgusted by his crimes, it seems even more heinous to me that such a cult of personality can exist where someone who is well known and liked by the populace can commit crimes that are ignored.
I'm not comparing the actions of Stephano with this man, however I would point out that Starcraft 2 is a community, and as such it is up to its members to protect and nourish it. When something like this is said and available for public consumption (whether meant or not) it is up to us to stand up and say that's not right. I would also point out that many members of our community are underage themselves, and an influential player such as Stephano must be held to a high standard as an example to them, and also to us.
If indeed Stephano's comments were made in a moment of indiscretion and bad taste, then a fine, ban, and public apology are good enough for me. If there are circumstances behind the comments, then that's a case for the authorities. Let's be clear, we all make mistakes (even super nerds). Learning from them and growing up is all part and parcel of life.
Complicity through silence is something, as a community, we must NOT do. Mentioning the Jimmy Saville case in relation to this is just beyond ridiculous. Are you really, seriously comparing systematic abuse over decades of disabled children with making a joke to a friend in a private chat log? Really?
Sigh. If you read closely, you'll realise I wasn't comparing Stephano with Saville, I was comparing the reaction to both incidents. Ignoring a twisted, insensitive, and potentially criminal comment just because you enjoy watching Stephano play SC2 is similar (in ways) to how Saville got away with abuse all those years. It's not a perfect comparison, however I'm attempting to explain how people seem to not care what Stephano says or does.
And saying I have no sense of humour - how do you even find those comments remotely amusing? Hell, they weren't even phrased in a joking manner, it sounded like Stephano telling a friend he just committed statutory rape. How the fuck is that funny?

Quick question btw, why isn't Roman Polanski not in prison, even if MARRIED TO HIS OWN ADOPTIVE DAUGHTER ? Coz he makes good added value with his crappy movies. AH ! IT'S A CONSPIRACY !!! See, Israel and sionists are taking control of the e-sports scene, and soon Dustin Browder will receive a call from Rabbi Netanyahu to rename the mothership into Jerusalem, and grant Protoss the title of kinky glowing creatures, coz hell, jews are themselves kinky glowing creatures. They even plan to nerf zerg so that Stephano won't exist anymore coz somewhat of a tunisian looking douchebag (plus, his body doesn't glow like protoss' and jews' do), which everyone in the US (an undefined Israelian region) knows better, is unacceptable and should be appropriately punished, coz that's how the real world works, so grow up, god damn it !

Ive never understood why Stephano gets so much love from the community. He runs 12723238 commercials in a row on stream, gets arrested for being a drunk asshole, and makes jokes about raping 14 year old girls. Every interview I've seen him do he comes off as arrogant and stand-offish. Clearly just in it for the money and nothing else. For those of you who think his "lack of give a fuck" attitude is something to aspire to and emulate... GROW UP

How come they do not suspend Idra or the other EG looser's for beeing so bad at the game and trolling around with bad excuses why they are lame?
That said, some people are more sensitive than others, some people will not stand a joke like this, some will. I worked in summercamp for a couple of years, you all would be quite amazed to listen to the staff jokes, stuff like this is very comon and no one abuses anyone or anything.
But Stephano must have quite a sick brain to think about this and to find it funny. Too much game must have burnt some brain parts. He needs to go to talk to a doctor.

What are you even trying to say? I have no issue with gamers trying to make a couple bucks off of streaming, sponsorships, etc... But when you do things like abuse the commercial AD system, get arrested for public intoxication, and make rape jokes on someone else's stream, you hurt the community and set a shitty example for young people who "idolize" him. His lack of professionalism will ultimately run his career into the ground... I just hope he grows up before it's too late.

Complicity through silence is something, as a community, we must NOT do. Do you actually really believe in what you just wrote? If so, I pity you very much sir! Making jokes with friends about "taboo" topics is kinda standard. Imo the penalty is kinda harsh tho I can understand it from a business point of view. But it is kinda sad that a joke which was meant for privacy gets out like this and makes such a mess and fuss.
Dude. Seriously. If i made a joke about raping children in front of my mates they would think I had gone fucking mental.
WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU?!

So i consider myself a HUGE troll! I make a lot of inappropraite jokes on bnet...but this one was over the line. It's one thing to joke around like that as a "no name". but when you are in his position it is SOOOOOOOOO much more important to be careful of what you say and do. I honestly believe that was a joke, but I believe this situation warrants termination of his contract and his ties with EG. I mean who knows what the sponsors will do......EG is a multi million dollar team. I believe if this act of stupidity does have a serious effect on sponsors (them dropping EG...etc) then it will affect E-Sports as a whole. You wont see our favorite players like incontrol, huk, jyp, suppy, idra.......at as many tournaments. That is not a good thing for our community at all, and especially people attending things like MLG and other events.......BAD MOVE. that makes me sad.

im not gonna sit here and get baited into some philosophical debate. bottom line - sexual exploitation of underage boys/girls is bad, and making comments to someone who's streaming about it is careless and unprofessional!
