Telling a cohesive story =/= info dumping. You seem to have misunderstood that. It's more of the opposite, actually.

We, of TeamLiquid, are a small portion of the world. I believe the director was trying to reach out to a broader spectrum of people by breaking everything down rather than just having Nick and Dan talk about their experiences blindly for an hour straight. Not only would that be boring to new viewers, it would be boring to us (some of us). Where in UmberBane's post do you see any advocacy for "info dumping" as you put it?

By jumping straight to the meat of the story, you would fail to inform the viewer why they should be watching the documentary. Look at it like this, if you jump straight to the main story rather than kind of laying a path to the main story to give an idea of what it what would be about would the same as this example: Guy wants to buy a computer but knows nothing about computers. I walk the guy over to the most expensive computer I'm selling, tell him the specs of the PC, and then expet for him to just outright buy it. What did I fail to do? explain to him the purpose of why he should have it. That's info dumping. If I show you a documentary without giving you the back story, I am dumping unnecessary info on you (as a new viewer) because you don't know anything about the story that's being told. That's how I would see it anyway.

UmberBane wasn't talking about jumping right into the story, rather that the first section came off as very disconnected from the general idea of the documentary in that it interwove very little about either Tasteless nor Artosis into its introduction to Sc2 and e-sports in general. There is no reason to suppose that the filmmakers could not follow your above advice whilst also heeding UmberBane's.

I cannot seem to enjoy the second ep despite being a huge improvement over the first ep.

+ Show Spoiler + Part 1: Starcraft (all of it apparently) is absolutely perfect and amazing as told by these guys sitting down being interviewed. 30 minutes of Tell (but not show). Part 2: Tasteless got a job commentating at Korea, but then lost it due to Kespa (again only told but not shown). Old footage from WCG 2005 where we saw the expressions on Artosis, Tasteless, and Day9's face, communication, the suspense of the actual gameplay footage. All that had soooo much more passion and soul than this Sons of Starcraft: A series of long winded interviews about two SC commentators, as interviewed by the same two guys.

I guess one of those statements must be wrong now i guess. But that dishonesty really makes me sad.

All the casts in Broodwar, where he claimed oh this is the best game ever bla bla bla. He says the same kinda shit about Sc2 nowadays. I guess one of those statements must be wrong now i guess. But that dishonesty really makes me sad. It was his job to say this. Just like it's his job today to call every GSL finals "the best finals, ever".

Persisting amateur sound issues. Elevator music. Jumps between Tasteless' background story to KOREA IS AWESOME and back. Cuts, chops and changes between characters at seemingly random intervals (that cut to Hwanni was painful). At least the subject material was presented in a semi-interesting manner this time around? Ah well, you can polish a turd but it's still going to be a turd.

Hadn't seen it before, and it is very cool. From the beginning, there's a storyline, you're interested in the main characters and it draws you in completely. Wasn't going to watch it, but got completely sucked into it. They balanced interviews, players playing games and in-game footage very, very well...
