Speaking of Europe, I understand Stephano's invite but they should either have it only for him, since he's far above everyone, or at least invite Thorzain besides Naniwa as well, to have the 3 most accomplished EU players for every race. The way it is now, with single elimination, luck can play a big factor and people who will get crushed by koreans can make it into the top 3 of the qualifiers, above people who proved they can at least put up a fight.

i know nothing about how these polls work, but isnt there a risk that they can be abused?

Forget racial balance! Haha. Foreigners have great zergs at the moment, I chose mostly zerg. Scarlett + Sen, Vortix, Nerchio and then Lucifron sort of on a whim. I did debate between him, Thorzain and Grubby for a little bit, but recent results always get me. I would honestly like to see Thorzain or Grubby there to.

Bah! I want to see all of them vs all of them =P

I voted:
NA - Scarlett, Huk

EU: Thorzain, Nerchio, Vortix

For NA, first choice was easy, Scarlett's performance in her IPL debut and her domination of WCS Canada/North America makes her an automatic pick. The second choice, though, was a bit difficult. Here, I considered these possible candidates: Huk, Idra, Illusion, Major, Hawk, Sheth. The latter four have not really shown big consistency or big wins. Although Huk seems to be in a slump and Idra seemed to be showing signs of reemergence in Anaheim, I felt that there would be too many zergs, Idra seems to be more of a momentum player and not too successful in team leagues, and Huk has the greater experience of playing against Koreans.

EU:

Thorzain, I felt, would be best to choose as a Terran representative. While he doesn't have spectacular results at the very recent tournaments he's been in, he did have a pretty bad illness. Furthermore, he is particularly known for being a smart player, which seems key in the planning/sniping/preparation of a team league. Other Terran candidates I considered were Kas, Demuslim, Lucifron, and beastyqt/Happy. Beastyqt/happy/demuslim don't seem to be particularly consistent in results, and despite lucifron's recent success, that one tournament result doesn't make me confident in his overall ability quite yet. Kas imo is too predictable with his heavy macro style, and hence easily sniped. So I stuck with ThorZain.

Nerchio seems to be consistently getting pretty far, with impressive performances against top koreans at IEM and HSC. Vortix, too, has had recent success in WCS and TSL4.

I'm content with the current polling, though, which has ThorZain, Nerchio, and Grubby.

Why vote for Idra when there's Sen??? It would be a real shame if Sen, arguably the 2nd best foreigner, to not be at the World Championship.

edit. Sen recently (within the past month) beat both Byun and MMA in BO7 series.

That's a hyperbole, since we have plenty of good protoss as well (And if we look besides Stephano, and most recently Nerchio, the toss players have had better results). Naniwa, SaSe, Mana, Grubby, HuK, NightEnd are IMO all able to take game off koreans.

I voted LucifroN/MaNa/Ret and ViBE/Illusion.

Stephano is already on there, so I made a point of avoiding other EG players like IdrA/ThorZaIN. I think it's more fun and representative of the 'world' if all 7 players are from different teams (same for korea, whatever that team ends up being). Though it'll depend on their performance in the qualifying bracket at the end of the day, I guess.

IPL used to maintain a power rank for players. Why not just update it and go down that list and invite foreigners? Seems much more objective than this popularity contest. I mean, HuK really getting that many votes? All he does is play League of Legends now. Even TT1 beat him at WCS Canada.

Please not Idra... he shouldn't be in the running. Hes not bad but he hasn't shown us any reason to be a big representative. Scarlett, however, totally deserves to win, so good job there, voters.

Sounds fair. Voting for EU was rough. Luciforn/Vortix/Nerchio/MaNa and a few others could represent extremely well.
