Is there a reason you are making an official thread titled Stephano joins EG? Isn't it disrespectful to EG as a team.. how about you let them make the official announcement first then you can go ahead and make such a thread titled like this.

Keep a secret poorly; secret gets out, and people get to know. Although I don't think EG really ever tried to hide it, and I think it's pretty obvious that this has been in the works ever since Stephano stayed at the EG lair before an MLG a while ago. At the very least that's what everyone I ever talked with just assumed.

That's definitely a fair statement however I still think it's pretty disrespectful for people to make a brand new thread titled EG SIGNS STEPHANO.. just based off a link from efsiworld "sources". There was already a thread where people were speculating that he was joining based on him being at the EG lair etc. etc. I wonder if the reaction from people woulda been the same if it was Teamliquid who were signing a new player and people started making all these posts with grandoise titles.

Guess people just love to hate on EG.
I don't think it's people hating on EG at all. This is a really exciting pick-up for EG, and I'm sure EG fans and Stephano fans are excited. I recognize your point about this article being somewhat redundant, but ESFI has a scoop and they want to share it, and I don't see a reason to close pretty relevant news, this seems like a further confirmation of what we've all suspected.

...This fallacy kind of ticks me off.

This was posted in the previous ???Stephano to EG??? thread a few weeks ago:

EG's placements in the top 10 of tournaments over the past 6 months, all players part of the team.

HuK: 9th 05-27-2012 Red Bull Battlegrounds, 4th 03-25-2012 MLG Winter Championship, 3rd 02-26-2012 MLG Winter Arena

Puma: 3rd 02-25-2012 Assembly Winter, 2nd 03-10-2012 IEM 6 World Championship, 6th 06-10-2012 MLG Spring Championship

Thorzain: 1st 07-28-2012 WCS Sweden

Idra: 4th 06-10-2012 WCS USA

DeMuslim: 2nd 07-01-2012 WCS UK, 2nd 08-19-2012 Samsung European Encounter

JYP: 5th 03-10-2012 IEM 6 World Championship, 4th 03-19-2012 Red Bull LAN Orlando 2012, 10th03-25-2012 MLG Winter Championship

And this is *just* the past six months, and *just* the big tournaments :-)

theres no problem with the article the problem is the thread title which acts like the ESFI doesnt ahve an unkown source but an actual statement from EG saying theyve signed Stephano

They have more sponsors and they market their sponsors good. Their like the only team that makes sure all their players/sponsors get exposure, teamliquid does it as well. Other foreign teams do (no offense to them) shitty jobs in promoting their players, their streams, their sponsors compared to EG/teamliquid.

I think it's fair to say that players have not performed on EG as well as they did before they were on EG.

As for the tournament results you cite, you have to consider that EG sends nearly all their players to every big tournament. More opportunity means a better chance to get a good result. Especially when you take into account seeding. Also, speaking frankly, WCS USA, WCS UK, Samsung European Encounter weren't big tournaments.

I don't think there's a curse. I just think Koreans have been playing in more tournaments. Stephano can compete with the Koreans, so I don't think we'll see a drop with him.

I find it quite hilarious that the TLPD #1 international spot where Stephano's ass has been firmly planted as long as i care to remember, is suddenly occupied by Nerchio. Is Stephano number 2? Nope, Titan..... Whoever runs that has no shame do they? hahaha that or a massive troll

Pretty much this.. I wouldn't have even made a big deal out of it.. but honestly TL rules about posting threads and topics are usually so strict that it just baffles me when they pick and choose to enforce said rules..

Haters are going to hate. If someone hates a team, they will selectively pick data and distort results to make a point.

Likewise, fans will also distort data to make their teams look good, so the sword does cut both ways.
