Jaedong finished the SPL with 10W 9L and 6W 3L in ace matches. Roro finished 8W 6L and 3W 4L in ace matches. On paper Jaedong performed better in SPL. Jaedong was 3W 2L against Zergs, and Roro was 2W 4L, and Jaedong was 6W 7L against Protoss, and Roro was 5W 2L.

No Terran makes me sad.

Btw I wonder how this was decided. Did the Kespa players do internal qualification games? Or was it just based on a coach decision? That would suck I have to say.

It's based off SPL performance, with extra emphasis placed on ace match wins.

Fantasy not being seeded makes me upset. 6-1, beat Nestea, is a terran, is Fantasy, what more could you ask for?

Proleague Ranking

Code S:
Rain - 13-6, 7 ace match wins = 495
JaeDong 10-9, 6 ace match wins = 390

Code A:
Trap =11-4, 3 ace match wins = 375
RoRo = 9-6, 3 ace match wins = 315
Effort = 9-8, 3 ace match wins = 315
Shy 9-2 = 270

Barely Missed the cut:
Hero 8-5, 2 ace match wins = 270
Stork 8-3, 1 ace match win = 255
Soulkey 7-7, 1 ace match win = 225
Stats 6-2, 2 ace match wins = 210

yep, it's a bit sad for roro, but jaedong is also a big name, who can draw lots of attention. I hope he can improve his weak matchups and perform well.

edit: ah ok, that ranking makes sense. whatever, I'm definitely looking forward to the next season!

I'm the biggest jaedong fanboy on the internets, my hwaseung calendar signed by his team is my most prized possession but I dunno if he's quite ready for code S. He did crazy well in the wcs tournament, but I'm still really nervous for him.

Jaedong had a better proleague performance than Roro, it's really not unreasonable that he gets the Code S seed over Roro...

edit: As the post above me makes clear. It's just like in WCS when people thought Kespa chose the players to send (looking at you TL writers who kept saying they "hand-picked" players...). It simply goes by the proleague ranking.

Obviously Jaedong is wildly more popular, and this is going to make this season the greatest ever, but I feel bad for Roro.

Bison deserves his spot. He has been the best player in Proleague, is OSL (1-0 over MKP), and was the second best placing KeSPA player during WCS Korea.

Come on, why would you post this.

Looks like they give lots of points for ace match wins which makes sense, they're the most important games in their BW/SC2 hybrid format.

Eh Jaedong? I mean he's doing good but if I have to be honest Roro deserves that spot more.
Anyway, grats to all Kespa. By.Rain will clean up the GSL.

I actualy would've liked Jaedong in Code A. Not because he's not good enough, but because the pressure will be huge. Every Gom pro and his mom will want to take him down (He also still needs to practice bw for the Proleague play-offs). Beïng in Code A is a lot less pressure with having to play less established pro's, and only needing to practice 1 matchup at a time.
Anyway, hope he does well.

P.S. Hope Effort rolls through Code A!

Proleague is always the 1st priority for KeSPA players, Reality even said that he practiced more BW then SC2 before his WCS game.

I have to be honest you did not watch Proleague and trying to judge according to WCS that is not right.
I recommend you to watch this game from Jaedong (Trap is the best player on STX):

And this amazing hold in ZvZ:

I wonder if one of them will be in Nani's group. Would it be the first foreigner vs Kespa match? They can't be same group as Mana since all 3 should be in tier 4.

RoRo should have got the Code S seed, and REALITY a Code A seed. They're better than most of the guys listed that are seeded, popularity contest once again.

Also pretty foolish they go off of Proleague results... it's players on the same level playing against each other...

OSL, WCG, WCS should have been taken into count more, it was KESPA vs. GSL aka much harder and more demanding, results mattered way more.

Did you read the thread? It was based on PL points ranking... You can't just base it on WCS.

And how would you create a perfectly fair system for all these events which had seeding?
