As emotionally invested as people are on this topic, TL rules still apply. That includes flaming and ad hominem attacks. |

As such, TT1's personality taking a beating doesn't kill his worth, but it does kill Destiny's.
manner pls destiny is far from being a personality, hes actually an extremely underrated player. and to that previous poster u do understand that this was a conversation between friends right? he sent the pics to fayth beforehand and asked us her opinion about her. again im not saying what we did was right, just trying to inform you of the context

He'll still have 10 times more people watching him play DayZ than TT1 will have as he's laddering.
ROOT caved to their sponsors (I'm guessing RushOrderTees) and as such they lose a pretty decent amount of fandom. A shame too, I really wanted a ROOT shirt.

Emailing sponsors helps NO ONE. I've seen this several places now in this thread. And I still don't understand it. E-mailing sponsors absolutely does helps e-sports. How? Because it helps remove disruptive elements. It helps show that the e-sports community polices its own. It helps show that the e-sports community does not tolerate this crap.If you believe Destiny's behavior is inappropriate, then e-mailing his sponsors is the right move. Why? Because it helps ensure that the problem will be dealt with. Sponsors are neutral parties; they only want money, not drama. Sponsors are the ones who have more power and don't care about the individuals involved. Of managers and sponsors, managers are more likely to gloss over the problem person. They're less likely to take sharp, corrective action. Or, to put it another way, if they'd e-mailed the managers, do you think Destiny would be getting thrown out of ROOT? Probably not. And if you think his behavior was inappropriate and that he deserved his ousting, then contacting the sponsors was absolutely the right call. It brought the pressure necessary to ensure that the problem was dealt with. And it helps ensure that Destiny is less likely to be picked up by another team.
The problem is that the people who email the sponsors are usually one of the following:
1) don't know the whole story and all the details 2) doing it because they hate the player. 3) mob mentality 4) blowing things way out of proportions
I'm not saying what Destiny did was appropriate, but this shitfest wouldn't have started had that girl not hacked his account and posted dick pics. Incidents like this should be dealt internally. Fan intervention only adds fuel to the fire and make the situation worse than it really is. It can also potentially ruin a player's career or have the team risk losing sponsorship. How would you feel if you lost your job because people kept talking shit about you to your boss?

If you read that conversation he had, it sounds like middle-schoolers. He's clearly a high-IQ type of guy, but it's like he's never grown up and became a man... and proud of it b/c he confuses his immaturity with honesty/being true to oneself/some other positive character trait. (others feed off that logic too)
I never cared for the guy and frankly am not surprised at this. Any professional organization should stay away from him in the future as he is the equivalent of an 11 year old's mind equipped w/ more lifetime experience, and will only continue to bring trouble with him in the future the way he always has in the past.

I never followed destiny or watched his stream once but I knew he had a large fanbase and was often surrounded by controversial drama. So Funny how a person which I got a sophisticated impression from during his casts @ homestory cup ( and his carddealing skills lol) can be so dumb and take pictures of his dick haha and shares nude pics of some 15 year old who's able to get access to his SNS stuff hahaahahahaahah
btw: No Idea who that sponsor of destiny is but releasing a statement where they say that we should change our tampons, really? Must be a joke organisation too.

Good.
For quite a while I actually liked Destiny, he was funny etc. However, lately... Well i'm not going to voice my honest opinion about him because of forum guidelines but there are things you can and there are things you cannot do. Not like I've watched his stream at all in the past few months anyway but definitely happy for Root, good job getting rid of the scum.
By the way I'm very sad for the girl, things like these always make me really sad. Good job for trying to do something about it, don't let them stomp all over you like this.

This is the best thing I've read all day. Pretty much sums the silliness of Destiny.

Very crappy situation and I feel bad for Steven and for ROOT, but it's an understandable outcome. Good luck to ROOT, Steven and everyone involved in the future.

Can't we all just watch the new OS2L? None of this has anything to do with Starcraft, why would this ever become a big enough deal that someone has to be let go?

It has not been on our radar until now so we appreciate the opportunity to understand how our company is perceived in association with Steven himself. The principals at Cloud Nine Labs, including myself, remain in support of Stevens PR decisions. Furthermore, we encourage his brutal honesty, snide remarks, controversial comments / subjects, humor etc. as it brings a uniquely dynamic and highly entertaining element to the streaming experience. His strong personality is what makes him Destiny - one of the most successful SC2 streamers of all time. Other SC2 personalities should take a cue from Mr. Bonnell because the SC2 pro circuit is not just "gaming". It has become a powerful industry that can be monetized by establishing a strong, widely talked about brand which Steven has managed to accomplish. In short: stop bitching, change your tampons and up your game.
ROOT needs to make this statement too. You want ROOT to make the statement "Change your tampons". Really? I cannot believe how deep the current of misogyny runs in esports. You, and this company, disgust me. The problem is a lot of these people making these comments don't know what misogyny is and haven't evolved past 19th century bourgeois mindset. It's extremely unfortunate that we get the privilege to read so much gender-hating on TL/SC2 communities (re: Scarlett hating). Difference between "gender hating" and beliving that saying a comment related to one gender is equal to another so I don't see the issue. If he said "take the stick out of your ass" I would have the same reaction, he means stop bitching. equality =/= favoritism Might I suggest "quit complaining", because change your tampon in a release is fairly offensive and gender-specific.

I feel bad for destiny, AND at the same time... Motherfucker, god gave you a mouth for a reason, IT SPEAKS WORDS BITCH USE IT! Talk with friends about private shit, call them whatever.. then 37k ppl can't read what you are saying. The guy just can't learn that manners are half the game.

No one believes yet that professional gamers need to be held to a higher standard than LadderZerg3 as they represent corporate interests?
Next time this happens I guess you'll still be surprised.

im sorry for the rude things that we said but tbh what saddens me the most out of all this is that i loss a good team mate and a good friend. and like i said im almost positive that she was spying on him the whole time so any sympathy i had towards her is pretty much non-existent atm Change your passwords folks. she knew destinys password because she used to handle his emails for him or something. and destiny never changed his pass since then
so essentially she was in the role of a delegate, handing his personal emails and so on.
I don't know what to think here. Surely this type of stuff would have come across her attention due to her elevated access?

I am not going to try and argue with anyone else, just have to say one more thing. If you're "feminist" or whatever label you want to give it, and you want to be taken seriously and not just treated as annoying, you shouldn't nit-pick every single little thing so much. Pick your battles. You're hear whining about how some game company said "change your tampon", while women in other places in the world are being raped and have virtually no rights. Not saying oh it's just words, don't ever be upset about anything anyone says, but c'mon, "change your tampon" means woman-hate? Maybe you should.... change your tampon.
