As emotionally invested as people are on this topic, TL rules still apply. That includes flaming and ad hominem attacks. |
Wow so many of you act like this is so terrible (I love the people saying that they would sue if they were in her position lol). While yes, what he did was wrong foe the fact it was done at a public event, but to say that he's the greatest evil of all time is just silly, none of you ever show pics of your girls to your friends? Seems like some of you need to become more adult.
God I do love these white knights though :3

What hurts me the most is that most of the messages that were sent to Sponsors were due to SRS on reddit, and not the actualy community themselves. They came from people who probably don't even know what/who Twitch.tv even is and most likely have never even heard of Rush Order Tees. They are not viewers, or customers of either company. They just jumped on the bandwagon to hurt Destiny's career. I understand why you did what you did, I just wish that there was a different outcome that could have come from all this. Especially since it didn't involve SC2's customers, but that of a community full of trolls, that Destiny happened to be the topic of the week. Again, I <3 ROOT and I <3 Destiny. I wish both of you the best, and I hope that one day we can see Destiny under the ROOT tag once again. Please don't confuse me being upset, with not having any understanding of what your going through. I understand fully, and I appreciate your efforts.

Makes it even worse than some subreddit which has nothing to do with starcraft can email sponsors and get a player removed from their team if they do something wrong.
And if enough emails are coming to some company which is not super involved in the scene even rather little mistakes can result in the sponsor pulling their money.

It's a total non sequitur. Furthermore, being charged with something isn't synonymous with being convicted with something, why wouldn't his team stand behind him? Does being charged with a crime mean your life ends? Does having a private live mean your life ends? Calling the other side kid doesn't make you right, either.

Can you elaborate on how child pornography is the same as sharing amongst your buddies a nude pic of an adult woman and asking them if they would hit it?
This is spot on. A number of examples have drastically altered the details of what happened. Context is everything in these situations. Sure common 'rules', morals, principles apply but comparisons with Hilter, pedo's, etc are just stupid. For those drawing that LONG bow are you exactly the same irrespecitve of sitation, context? you'd talk the same, act the same etc with anyone you interact with in your life?? somehow I doubt that.
Take it back to two people with a relationship of some kind. Put yourself in that situation as person A or person B. Both have reasons to feel hurt/betrayed by the actions of the other. IMO the most interesting posts have been from people looking at what happened rather than who it happened too.
Since Destiny's comments (in raw form) have been released people's opinions have changed or been reinforced about him. It's more ammo for those that loathe him and kind of 'business as usual' for those that support him or at the very least acknowledge that people do talk a bit of shit behind closed doors.
This has been a golden opportunity for haters to get stuck in - no doubt they have taken great satisfaction in the outcome. Not sure what that says about them and the energy they invest in maintaining that kind of loathing for someone.
I'd suggest most of us agree it's been a rough way for both Destiny and Bluetea to learn more about life and relationships. This would make such a good Dr Phil episode imo

That's very obviously illegal. What Destiny did is despicable, but the legality is in a grey area and I really doubt anyone could convict him, and if they did the consequences would be pretty small.
Personally I would have done exactly what BT did and I don't think she really overreacted; being betrayed and having your trust violated by a close friend is very hurtful.
I was always on his side when he had the casual enraged white nerd gamer phaux racism, but this seems a lot more malicious and hurtful. I mean I doubt the people he hurled racial slurs at over ladder chat rooms were remotely as hurt by his actions as BT was. I don't know if I would have let him go if I was in CatZ position, but some pretty severe punishment is definitely called for.

I don't. She started this whole debacle by firmly stating she has NOTHING to lose. Destiny got exposed to hundreds of thousands of people while BlueTea's body has been exposed to a total of 3-4, and these are people destiny trusts. Destinys pic is forever on the Internet. Not only that, but she basically stole Destinys identity by using his Skype, email, twitter. And you don't think she doesn't deserve any consequences?
|
Ok, so what has Destiny done to upset the sponsors? In a PRIVATE conversation, he talked about something and showed something to TWO people. Then, the girl finds out, blabla and SHE shares Destiny's private parts to basically EVERYONE. Excuse me for the caps, but people don't seem to understand - what destiny did was rude, but it was in private. Just think about what would happen if every single private conversation you had would be out in the open, I bet some people would go apeshit berserk on some stuff you said, or stuff I said for that matter.
As for sharing nude pictures - it is not my cup-of-tea, but in some groups of friends these things are considered normal, and it is a 'gentleman's agreement' that these pictures are only for watching, not for sharing. Further, I don't know if I'd be more pissed off to have secrets of me, or nude pics of me shared to friends, but I think the former...
However, only because the girl leaked the chat + private pictures to everybody, he's getting fired and getting financial loss from it. Besides, the girl released private information about where he lives, potentially endangering his son and roommate, which is totally not cool. What Destiny did was not cool, but private. What the BlueTea did was ILLEGAL.
Just turn it the other way around for a second... a girl shares a nude pic of Destiny in private with her friends, and Destiny shares (via a high-profile twitter account) nude pics of the girls private parts with the rest of the word. An absolute shitstorm would ensue, en nobody would blame the girl here.
Destiny could absolutely file a lawsuit here and claim for financial loss- I don't think he will (or should), and the girl should be very, very thankful for that.
