What the actual team decide actually matters some, but right now they are not affected yet.

If KeSPA gave a better reason (they were pulling the scheduling conflict card which doesn't work "and" doesn't make sense considering it was player/team choice) "or" said they let their players participate in the next season (which they did not), then I could see this being unreasonable. However, it seemed like KeSPA was being a bully and attempted to kill off GOM with this. I made a big post before but part of the reason I watch and support eSports is because of the positive atmosphere from not only from most of the players but from tournament organizers as well. Something like this easily puts me off from supporting them (I can imagine others agree as well - For those in Korea, they'll just watch kpop instead). There has already been on site with confirmed negative reasons from netizens in Korea to KeSPA. Does KeSPA have a monopoly over LoL content in Korea? If not, then it's also likely they can't just back down and switch to LoL either.

The best thing that can come from this is Kespa wakes up and smells the coffee and works towards a better eSports scene - where the players (or at least their teams) get to decide what tournaments they play in. At worst we end up with OSL and GSL as two totally distinct tournaments with separate groups of players. I think this will fuck over OGN way more as everyone knows it will be a lower calibre of play and GSL will remain the pinnacle. At the end of the day I just feel really really bad for all the players. I doubt it GSL will remain the pinnacle with players like Effort, Rain, Jaedong, Roro.. already taking games from Top GOM players (Seed, Gumiho, Drg,...). I give it 1 more season of GSL before GOM players will start to lag behind. Mainly because of the ridiculously strict practice regime the Kespa players have. Well right now it really depends on Koreans. As shown in BW, RTS games on TV are declining in popularity (sponsors losing interest, viewers declining). With this drama (which even most Koreans are against KeSPA too apparently), KeSPA has a good chance of being boycott by many (and instead, everyone will start watching more kpop). As for LoL? Is KeSPA the only one exclusively holding LoL tournaments in Korea? Yes they are but they have no control over the teams unlike in bw.

It is especially sad to miss opportunities for more cross GSL-Kespa games in this period, because this is probably the best time for such games. Supposedly, the Kespa players at some point could surpass the GSL players in skill so much, that such cross games would not even be that entertaining anymore, but now, exactly now, they are great fun to watch.

Kespa tries to keep the market value of its players high because they are the only reason Kespa is so mighty. If BW players just couldnt adapt, the interest in these players to play SC2 would drop and Kespa just hadnt that much of a good position against ESF any more. Keep in mind that these are two rivaling organisations. The thing for Kespa is that their strong position can only be kept if their players can fare well against the GSL players. If there is no competition between those two camps, Kespa players are suddenly not that interesting any more... personally, I didn't mind much that Kespa withdrew from the next GSL qualifiers. I would rather see the fully-SC2-trained now-BW-pros swarm and conquer the qualifiers than see them lose in 2nd round now. GSL players show awesome games themselves, it's still entertaining and Kespa can wait a little longer ![]()

On topic: Yeah, I don't really see KeSPA playing fair here. For the sake of athletic competition, enter the tournament, please. We've already seen it can't possibly be too terrible.

So I hope other fans to understand this decision and support ESF players. Seriously, they have entertained for two years. We can do this for them.
