Wow this is crazy, known this guy for a long time and was on VzR with him.
I'm very thrown off by EG picking him up, they're not known to pick up up and comers and develop the talent. If he's moving to the EG lair, I'm really jealous.
Big opportunity for Suppy and indeed a change of pace for EG to pick up someone who is just starting to become big, rather than one who already is. Hopefully Suppy can do EG good and vice versa!

Congrats to Conan! No doubt in my mind he's gonna accomplish great things. He's a full-time student at UC Berkeley doing pretty well and I doubt he'll leave that to move to The Lair.

EG didn't up buy out a big teams star player for once, suprising. Anways congrats to Suppy, good up and coming NA player. Makes me wonder how he will handle college with it though. He isn't going to be able to do SC2 fulltime like some others would.

I was immediately impressed with his play after watching over his shoulder at MLG Anaheim.
I had been keeping tabs on him via his stream since then, and once he qualified for ASUS Rog I knew that it was an opportunity our team didn't want to pass up on. He's such a positive, enthusiastic guy. It's easy to forget that this is a game and we should be having fun, but Suppy really drives that point home when you see him play.
great deal for Suppy! He gets a chance to play in team house (I think hes in college so he might only use it for vacations or bootcamping for events though) and can go to all the major tournaments. I think that Check Six is hurting though, with Sleep and Suppy both leaving. They will still be a threat, but they won't be able to compete on the world stage.

Dude, he's been around since sc2 beta and played BW, and has been x6's sc2 captain for years. How is he up and coming and how is this not a snipe?
People like to talk a lot of trash about EG, but this is a really classy pickup. They can sign almost anyone they want, and they're taking a risk by signing a relative unknown. It shows thay they're really looking out for new talent. They get points for putting an up and comer in a position to really succeed.
Obviously, grats to Suppy as well. This is a big step up (no offence to CheckSix) and a great opportunity.
Lets hope it proves to be a beneficial arrangement for both.

This is a pretty cool pick-up for EG. Congrats to Suppy and EG; this guy definitely has potential. This seems like a somewhat odd time to pick him up though--a lot of the summer events have already taken place and in a little over a month the school year starts. I wonder how this is going to affect Suppy's schooling (not that it is really any of my business ^^).

Also people need to stop acting like EG has never picked up or tried to pick up a talent. I wouldn't be surprised if they tried to pick up Illusion prior to Vile being absorbed into Quantic. Illusion had mentioned that when he was fielding offers he wasn't sure about leaving his teammates and having to live in a team house.

Let's hope for Suppy's sake that EG can actually develop players; all we've seen so far is EG grabbing established players and causing their rank to slowly fall. Good for Suppy to get what I'm assuming is a much better salary though!
I wish this guy all the best but if he's actually pursuing a pre-med course load in college its going to severely cut into his practice time, is all I can say.

Picking up developmental projects that have talent to turn out well is one of the most basic and fundamental things to running a team in any sport. Moves like this should be welcomed and expected, you don't sign superstars left and right, most teams can't afford to anyways. Congrats to Suppy.

EG is a team that takes RoI very seriously. Most people pretend it has something to do with "trying to buy success", but most of the best investments just happen to be successful. Not everyone can be an InControl, but players like Thorzain and HuK can build a sizable fanbase from winning and being "unique".
Suppy is clearly someone seen as a good up-and-comer and a good personality, and someone that can be marketed and exposed easily.
I can easily say that Suppy has a raw talent for the game that not many other people have. Suppy used to be awful in Brood War but then went and was B/B+ by 2010, then in SC II he improved very quickly without really even playing that much. Something just clicks for him when he plays, EG was smart to pick him up.
Definitely surprised, but that's freaking awesome. EG famous more for making those big acquisitions, so it's cool to see them pick up superiorwolf. Nice.

This actually is really good from a racial standpoint, because I considered EG to only have one top-tier Zerg (sorry Machine) currently in IdrA (who's currently coming out of a bit of a slump, I'd say?) - so adding another Zerg helps them, especially for use in team leagues. Also, with a last name of "Liu", that's pretty cool that we're getting what seems to be a SC2 player of Chinese descent (I'm not aware of too many of them).

Doubt they care about that stereotype. In fact, EG has been known to insinuate the fact that they buy players. For example, their CEO's statement during the Esports panel a few months back. EG's player recruitment habits may tickle some of the more sensitive fans, but the company will remain successful. They already have some of the most popular players in sc2 and have proven to be one of the most successful teams. And I'm not just talking about their sc2 gaming results.
Its not really hard to see why EG went after Suppy. He's a strong community guy and a talented SC2 player.

Agreed, EG needs more zergs. More Korean terrans would be super nice though.
Solid/great move. First and foremost, I've always viewed EG as a team of friends/family where no one gets cut (simply become "practice partners") and recruitment was more based on a buddy system. Whether some are merely practice partners or not, I think it would make sense. I just think it's nice to see that it seems they have branched out to pick up a very talented player that will probably continue to improve.

Though perhaps they were asking for to much/Suppy is a much cheaper cost for EG in general (since I'm assuming he'll still be attending school and mostly LAN evens in the US, certainly much more cheaper for them overall).

Well he didn't exactly install the game last month. He was already on a top NA team so some would say he is established. He just has more support now.
Suppy played really well @MLG, and it's a very interesting pickup for EG considering everyone was more or less expecting of them to get koreans that are nearing the end of their contract with their current teams.

Never heard of this guy, but according to the posts from Americans he is pretty good. GL to Suppy, must be nice to move into the EG house with such great players, he has nothing to lose.
Great news for him. I've been watching his stream for a while now and I'm glad for him. I think he has potential, and obviously EG do too. It's nice to see them pick somebody like this up and not just buy the biggest and already successful players. It's good for everybody involved. I hope it works out.
EG is good at marketing, and this is good marketing move. Imagine if they would pickup some recent chempion, they would get a lot of shit coming their way. This moves combats their bad image, which is good. Win-win situation for EG, doesnt matter if Suppy succedes, no one cant say right now they only grab champions once they established. If he do succed, its of course better. But even if he fails its a good move for their public image.
I find it hilarious though that 3 months ago SirScoots said that they didn't even look at Scarlett for her IPL4 performance because she needed to show it over multiple tournaments. One strong tournament performance was not enough for EG...

Interesting pick up to say the least, I was listening to ChanmanV yesterday with MaximusBlack (who is on CheckSix) and he mentioned he sometimes did not agree with CheckSix management. Today I see this. I'm not saying anything against CheckSix but it definitely made me go "huh..". None the less I hope EG can turn him into a star-player, best of luck to both Suppy and also CheckSix for losing a player.
I think that was a great move. Picking up and comming players is the way to build a strong organisation, as they cost less and have the potential to become franchise superstars. Hope he focuses on training starcraft instead of building muscles lol.

Its nice to see, for once, some one from the community join a big team. It usually seems like you had to be some one before to join a team like EG. Im very happy for this. I used to play against suppy in Team leagues and he is, without a doubt, s great fit for EG. Probably cheaper then a Golden or MMA anywyas.

Personally I don't think so and I believe that the circumstances are very different. Liquid buys good breakout players, EG buys the already estabilished name (until now). I may be biased however since while I'm not a particular Liquid fan (if we exclude Taeja) I cannot manage to like EG and I think that a couple of reasons will always prevent them for winning something big.
Definitely better quality pickup strategy than EG's usual, but still in tune with their tendency to get someone after good results. Basically Suppy is one of the most promising players out there, which was already known, rather than scouted by EG.

I wouldn't call Puma and JYP established when they were picked up by EG. Puma might have won the NASL and JYP had a good reputation amongst the Korean scene, but they weren't really known yet.
I'm liking the move EG. Instead of just buying all the best talent, they are investing in a new young talent and also helping out someone fulfill their career dreams. Ship ship mcgipp!

Wow, I was not expecting this. I was thinking either Stephano or another Korean, one of old oGs or something, maybe even one of the people who's contract just expired like Violet. Though let's not say that such a thing is impossible.
Still, it's a dream chance for Suppy to prove himself. He got like top 24 at MLG while playing WCS USA so the kid is clearly talented. And on the plus side, he's not white, so he's already as good as Illusion

SuperiorWolf -> able to do commentary and other community stuff really well, perhaps EG featured analysis stuff. He's a really nice person, good commentator, and also a very talented player. I think that he's a very valuable player to any team and a possible future champion.

Exactly and he can provide more ROI than any of EG's Korean stars. I love watching Puma, Thorzain and their other players who are grinding it out in Korea, but I always root for the guys who are state side to do well. It is exciting for them to pick up someone who is unknown and just started to really hit their stride.

The difference isn't that huge on GM level between EU and NA. Lots of people seems to forget that. Depends how you look at it. As a research/graduate, it's really top 5. It's the #1 public in US by most accounts, and is around #20 (but then again, rankings take into account things like contributions by graduates, something publics basically never get, and privates get a ton of)

Watch Suppy stream sometime. He is the definition of Overpowered. His keyboard clicks sound more like a chainsaw from how fast he hits those buttons. Trust me, this guy will be something if he invests whatever time he can into it. He is on the PreMed track at Berkely though, so that will always be more important.

I remember they talked about on either State of the Game or Inside the Game about what a shame it was that with so much going on an Aneheim and with all of the dual tournament stuff going on and the controversy over the player's area that Suppy didn't get any attention for his awesome run. It's nice to see him get recognized as a good up and comming player.

Agreed. I think pro SC2 is overextending when it comes to trading pro players. By expanding the player base, the community gives power its own members, and supports of the growing number of teams, tournaments, and leagues.

In this guys defense, EG never deny that they are buying big name players to increase their brand exposure etc. I think he was more referring to the fact the teamliquid community hates EG for no reason, and holds Teamliquid up as the beacon of all that is right when they did exactly the same thing. Nazgul even admitted that with Taeja it was about picking up an already developed player. I think this is nothing to do with Teamliquid as a team; its more the extreme hypocrisy shown by the community.

Yeah, but before EG (and still now) Suppy played like 2-3 hours every other day casually lol. He goes to school full time so its not like being EG grants him godly status that forces him to beat everyone 100%.
