Clide and Nestea were people that Artosis liked despite their results and simply built into a running joke that he enjoyed

You realize how many players Artosis hyped as the best player in the world in the past couple of years?
Also, please read the OP of the thread and go somewhere else to talk about Puma.
|
When he joined EG Puma had the best TvP in the world along with Bomber. He also had solid Code A level TvT and low Code S level TvZ.
Seen as foreign tournaments at the time had few Koreans and foreign Terran's are generally a bit shit Puma was able to basically clean up for a while with a lack of Korean Terran's and Nestea/DRG/Losira level Zergs to beat him.
Since then TvP got extremely difficult and Puma's two main strengths (ghost usage and 1-1-1) got nerfed/went out of fashion. Now that TvZ is even harder than TvP it's no surprise to me that Puma's struggling.
When Blizzard nerf Zerg/Protoss and/or buff Terran in the next patch (or in HOTS) I expect to see Puma doing really well again.

You do realize the times whe Artosis said those things about Puma, he was already on EG, right? Clide was never a contender for best in the world. He was good and consistant at the time. Just like Supernova is now.

He has gone from being heralded as the best Terran in the world to placing high in a few foreign tournaments and winning 2 or 3 since joining EG? How about you take a look at those tournaments. How many other terrans placed above him in each of them? You still gonna argue that he's performing badly? Your last few posts have all been attacking people who disagree with you on a personal basis. You skirt around the actual argument like a true ballerina. How about you confront some of the issues people have with your posts? You alone have made up expectations for EG that you think they should adhere to. The players you claim are doing badly are getting good placements in tough tournaments. You seem to think that only 1st place counts as an achievement in a tournament. Adress all of those issues before you start making an even bigger fool out of yourself. There is no need to be upset. I have not insulted or implied an insult in a single one of my posts. Also, you're the only one who is continuing this argument. You may have your last word, as I will not respond to you after this post.
By continuing to try and insult me instead of adressing the points I just asked you to you have proven that can't answer them and you yourself know that you are wrong. You just don't want to "lose an argument". Because that would make you sounds stupid wouldn't it?
It's ok. I figured out what kind of person you are. You're that guy that listens to commentators and take their word as law. You're that guy that has no clue about actual player skill levels. You're that guy that reads threads on TL posted by gold players overhyping or overcritisizing players. Then you sit on those misconceptions about the scene and you go out unto the boards trying to trounce people with your infinite knowledge.
You came into this thread seeking to throw shit at EG and anyone that disagreed with you. A lot of people then called you out on your bullshit. I'm glad you conceded int he end though. You have no buisness critisizing how progamers practise or how teams run their buisness when you don't even have a rudimentary understanding of the scene or of competition itself.

I did note from SC2 earnings that Incontrol has made 75$ this year after bringing in $1400 in 2011. So its not just their new talent that's on the slide. This is what gives the illusion that EG is a great team. They have sponsors that keep them afloat and they have good PR that make them relevant to the sponsors. But, the sad thing is that all this mechanism is independent of StarCraft. EG could work even in the shoe industry. The community should look at results from time to time not just on personalities. When both mix it's great, but if we have only great characters we are all about drama.
In Sport hype is important but the mega stars are always the Champions. If you can get the hype and the championship then you are made for life. I think Stephano could achieve this if he continues for another couple of years.
As eSports matures it will be interesting to observe whether players who consistently post poor results can still achieve more exposure than Champions. Will the likes of Scarlett get more viewers than Idra or is the thrill of waiting and hoping to see BM or a tantrum more of a draw?

There's still loads of foreign tournaments where there aren't that many Koreans.
Assembly, IEM, Dreamhack, NASL.
Even MLG has less truly elite Koreans than it did six months ago.
Plus with OSL going Sc2 and I think the next Pro League season likely including the GOM teams more and more Koreans will be skipping foreign tournaments.
