Not entirely surprising since startale picked up a big sponsorship with redbull and zenex has been a poor team trying to stay afloat forever (but somehow managing to consistantly find new talent), best of luck to both parties in the merger.

Thanks for posting the link, I didn't know an official article was released yet, I'll add the link in the main post.
If anyone wants to give a better translation post it and i'll add it to the main post.
This is so good for zenex players like life, xtreme, suhoshin, etc.
if true, that would be great, Startale was lacking on good Zergs and that is exactly what Zennex can provide Would love a real translation of the TiG article!
Say WHAT?! And by merged, do you actually mean consumed? ST is obviously the bigger name with bigger name players, but I wonder what their financial situations are (correction: were) like...
Best thing for ZeNEX. Had zero sponsors and it was inevitable they would fold. Players go into an already established environment. GSTL has to deal with less teams. Everyone is happy.
Here are the players Startale will acquire as part of the merge.
EDIT: Merger occurred mostly because they couldn't find any housing and the ZeNEX head coach was paying for pretty much everything out of his own pocket. Without a team house, it would be extremely difficult to continue team operations.

As far as I can tell, zenex players are going to be absorbed by ST. I don't believe the zenex tag is going to stay at all but i'm not sure.
Guess when your sponsered by Redbull one can afford to consume another Korean team, which is nice, ZenEX players are good and have potential, now they have even more.
Seems like a sweet deal for both teams. Zenex can hopefully focus on other things than stressing out about their financial situation and Startale picks up some really strong zergs. What an insane gstl lineup they can field now.
I wonder if they will merge into a new teamname or if they are all startale-players now.

They had an insane gstl lineup (startale), but they still managed to piss that away. =/

Startale is fucking loaded now! Poor Zenex but you have to admit they lasted a lot longer than most people probably expected them to. Wish ST could have saved oGs too though.

I believe there was an agreement between the GSL teams not to cherry pick oGs players until after a certain period of time.
Good for both parties imo, i think the word merger is probably wrong and it seems that Startale just absorbed there players and coach in some new role. With the new red bull sponsorship and this many new players Startale seems to be doing very well.
Hmm, Line is still the only person I know of there. So this isn't actually too exciting for me as a fan, but huge congrats to everyone involved as I'm sure it benefits all of them quite a bit, in many ways
I bet any team would be pretty psyched to aquire Life... O_o Let's hope Naniwa gets a chance to practice with him then; maybe he can get rid of that pvz weakness. : )
Suhosin has shown very impressive games last season. Seeing how July is leaving, he can help fill a necessary race role for ST. I generally only care about how Terran perform, but ST_Suhosin fighting! Hopefully they will help Bomber improve as well, here awaiting the revival of the super macro terrran.
According to the article, zenex didn't have any financial backing since last Dec, so the coach paid for everything out of his pocket. Also they lost their team house recently, so the players had to practice from their own home. Startale team house doesn't have enough room to accommodate everyone right now, so ex-Zenex members will start officially from August. I guess this is somewhat of a happy ending. Best of luck to everyone involved.
eww I don't like this.... Startale is by far the more elite team and having to merge with Zenex reduce team quality... not many good players in Zenex and theres that crazy suhosin that doesnt play standard ZvX :<

It's an absorption of zenex by Startale not a merge(only used it because that's what was used by the tweet/article) Startale gains new players, if anything it would improve team quality since Startale needed good zergs.

Yes thank you its an absorption from Startales part, people just dont understand the business part of it. Of course ZeNex has good players are you joking? Life and Suhosin is good enough to be picked up, and when they start training with PartinG/Squirtle/Ace there PvZ's will go thru the roof. I like the Startale move a lot, it shows other teams care and will try to help each other out.

This. I never fanned out on ZeNex back in the day because Im an og mkp fanboy but theyre recruiting was amazing. They just werent able to hold on to any of their rising stars, probably because of all the financial trouble theyve been having. Super happy they got to improve their lot, even if its not the ideal situation. I always felt like they just had crappy luck since finding talent was never an issue. Aquiring ZeNex isnt going to lower the quality of Startale by any means, its not like theyre forced to used the new players in team league or something (although they definitely will since ZeNex has quality players).

Yea I agree, people saying that have no idea what they are talking about. People like to shit on ZeNex as being week in the KR scene but the truth is they have developed SO many top level players, ByuN, Coca, Genius, Life just to name a few. They don't have the means to go to international tournaments, that's why people never hear of them and think they suck -.-, In reality a number of code S players either made their debuts as ZeNex players
Also I'm curious about Kyrix, always liked him back when he was competitive.

* Facepalm * This is good for Startale.
FYI Do you know Taeja,Coca,Byun,Puzzle,Hack and Genius are firstly all from Zenex ? Zenex is great at picking up new talents and grooming them but they had plenty of financial problem and that is why they lose them.
Saying that Zenex reduce team quality just shows you know nothing of Zenex.

Huh? At the very least, they get Life which makes them even more dangerous in team leagues.
So ZenithQuanticVileStartaleNex all share one team spot in GSTL now. Hah! well I'm really happy for the players and grateful that the Korean teams continue to look out for one another. Perhaps another foreign team can come in next GSTL.

James from Startale/D-Esports, just said on the other page that he will be the assistant coach.
I always wondererd if the ingratitude (so to speak) of the players who left Zenex for other teams broke Zenex's heart. Some former Zenex players are strong GSL players.
Now they are absorbed by ST, at least an illustrious team.

I don't think there was really ingratitude -.-;; Players had to literally pay to be on ZeNex team, so I don;t think there were any hard feelings about getting picked up by a sponsored team.
Really good for Life and Line. I think that they have a lot of skill, but maybe not the best practice partners so they play a little strange. But there's hardly a better team for practice out there beside startale.

A and B teams already exist in most of the Korean sc2 teams, but now they have enough players for a C team!

If you read the translated article on Gosugamers, it's pretty much an acquisition by Startale. All ZeNEX players will play under the ST tag beginning next GSL season.
Prime is small because team prime and clan prime are separate but they practice together, team prime are just the paid/sponsored players while prime clan is pretty big and are unpaid.
but startale now has one of the biggest talent pools out there for practice partners and players. i expect them to become dominant by next GSTL.
Startale just getting bigger and bigger. The only 2 notable ZeNEX players left were Suhosin and Life anyways. ST is just bolstering their zerg line IMO
Great news for Zenex to become apart of Startale! Their partnership must be over now with LgN, apart from playing together the partnership didn't appear to do much else from my point of view at least. Best of luck to all the players who are now apart of Startale!
Startale starting to become massive. My mind was blown last week when I realized Trickster was still on the roster. Anyway this looks like more of a ZeNEX closing down than a merger. Life and Line have shown some results lately but still can't say they play inspiringly.

I've been told that LgN has folded. My source may be wrong though.
Although Startale's best are better then the best of Zenex, Startale is adding some insane depth right now. Life/Avenge/TREME should be able to really help out in their team leagues. And with them already having a great team league line up especially with Quantic's players waiting in the wings hopefully they will do much better next GSTL.
Gogo win the GSTL StarTaleZenexQuanticVile! I do wonder what will happen with the GSTL now though. Will there be a format change? Or will they find some new teams to compete (that won't get slaughetered)? Maybe StarTale will split into 3 teams: StarToss (Parting, Squirtle, Ace, Naniwa, Sase) StarTerran (Bomber, TheStC, Virus, Hack, Sound) StarZerg (Curious, Life, Line, KingKong, July?)
Seriously though, this is great for both teams. 3 things I see coming: -Life + Line round out ST Zerg roster and develop into solid Code S level players. -One of the other Zenex players is a diamond in the rough and emerges in StarTale house. -TREME gets an IDchange.

Life and SuHoSin are awesome pick-ups for StarTale. Getting TREME and Avenge will also be pretty good pick-ups for GSTL, but I doubt they will get much play just because of how good Squirtle/AcE are (TREME PvT is amazing, but Squirtle is even better).
I'm curious what is going to happen between LgN and ZeNEX.

ST now has, stastically, the best zvz'er at the moment -- Life, the best pvp'er at the moment-- Squirtle (and arguable zvp'er) and the pvt'er -- they can now field a player who basicaly has the best chance of anyone in all of Starcraft to stop a particular player's run, whatever race that player plays. They're going to be very difficult to beat.

Well, there is the NaDa team, and DtG? I can't think of any other teams in korea atm, maybe EG will have enough players to represent EG only, and maybe ST could join as two teams, they did that with FXO when fOu was bought up by FXO, so maybe ST Black and ST White or something, they had white uniforms before and black now, but that might split the team though.

Makes for a softer landing for the Zenex players versus the team just imploding, which is nice for them. And Startale's zerg lineup just got a good bit scarier; should make the next season of GSTL interesting.

EG and SlayerS are not going to play seperately unless their partnership falls apart.
ST will not be able to play as two different teams because unlike FXO/fOu, they are not two seperate teams. At the start of that season fOu was not connected to FXO and even after the the Korean team got sponsored by FXO, they were two seperate squads.
And teams have different uniforms and the uniforms are subject to change. I know IM used to have different colored shirts (Black/Yellow) and teams generally get new uniforms from time to time. I seriously doubt that StarTale will be split somehow into two different teams.
Sparta and Hack are both highly underrated and skilled terrans. Life is top 3 zerg in the world (imo), and both Avenge and Extreme have lots of potential that will almost guaranteed be realized by being on the same team as Squirtle.

Well, it wont help against being all killed by MKP on his good days.
You had to go and ruin the fun... Startale looking terrifying now, they're basically 4 different teams.
Awesome!!!! Two of my three favorite teams merging? :O I hope Life is able to perform as great as he did in the gstl under startale flag. Gogo StarNEX!!!
Wow this really rounds out ST with some fantastic Zerg players! Best of luck to everyone involved, will be waiting anxiously to see how Avenge and Extreme develop under the wing of Parting, Squirtle & co.

I've been told that LgN has folded. My source may be wrong though.
No, Legion has not folded. I'm not sure where you got that, but that is not the case.
This just feels to big to really work. ST was already one of the deepest team, now adding 8 player they'd have around 20 active player, with most of them CodeA +
That sounds like a logistic and culture nightmare.

He hasn't won a GSL game in over a year, and his only appearance in TLPD since September of last year is an ESV weekly in February where he lost 1-2 to Naama.
This is no surprise, is what I'm saying. He's probably as good as retired.
Hmm while it is sad to see ZeNEX go at least I won't have to worry about some big team poaching life ;p
Btw can we still keep ZeNEX as our team in the sig?
I think that this should allow StarTale to compete with Prime as Prime are just.. better than them lol. Life is a god and Line has a gradient of 1 so I am very happy about this!
REALLY HAPPY about this! I just hope it doesn't make ST too big of a team like FXO became, to my eyes. Life is a GREAT acquisition. Insanely great acquisition.
Big news! The cradle that spawned a lot of today's GSL talent across various teams has finally found "THE THING".
Congratulations!
It's good for both teams as StarTale gets to flesh out their Zerg lineup with players like Life and Line. Wonder how eight more players will fit into the StarTale team house, though. Sad also for the rest of the ZeNEX roster that did not make the cut.
StarTale got knocked out this season largely because they didn't have multiple decent Zerg players the way Fnatic and TSL do. This is going to be really scary.
Line is an ok addition too as long as his all-ins work out.
Just realized how big the STQ partnership is now in terms of player numbers. Sweet Jesus, they could seriously fill a whole tournament with only that team being represented 0_o
They have a huge line-up for team leagues now, and they picked up Life and Line, who should be able to expand their lack of really good Zergs.

There is the NaDa team that is coming. With some thought maybe the founded LoL teams will venture into sc2, they have some sponsors, but only time will tell.

It's a lot healthier for the scene to have a smaller number of really well sponsored teams like we have now than a larger number of mostly broke as shit teams like we had a year ago.
Right now Mvp, Slayers, FXO, IM, Fnatic, Prime and Startale all appear to be in a really good spot financially. While TSL and NSHS seem to be keeping afloat if nothing else.
This time last year the only teams with any money at all were FXO and Slayers so this is a vast improvement.
Plus when they all move over to playing pro league I expect more sponsors to come in and teams in general to become more stable. It's inevitable that mergers will happen when the Kespa teams come in because 17 teams is too many. 10 is a nice number to have imo.

TSL isn't just keeping afloat. They have always been in a good spot financially. They are one of the few teams that sends their players overseas without a foreign partnership.

They send Polt out a lot yes. But how do you know Polt isn't paying his own way (he's a rich guy post Super Tournament). Almost all the times their other players have gone to tournaments it's been on the tournaments dollar.

The fact that Coach Lee is rich doesn't necessarily mean that he actually sends his players to foreign events though. I do think that he does, because Polt would not have joined TSL without that incentive.

Cause Millennium dosn't count as a foreign team yes?
TSL just moved into a bigger house and out of all the Korean teams, probably send the most players to foreign tournaments with MvP and probably now Startale with their Red Bull sponsorship.
Obviously the team most likely to be in financial trouble would be HoSeo. Never send players to tournaments and are sponsored by a technical college. For all we know they might be perfectly fine in Korea and just don't have the extra funds to send players to foreign tournaments, but they would be the most likely out of the teams in Korea.

The deal with Millennium is like the SlayerS-EG deal. They don't pay for players to travel abroad. It just gives them a training facility in Korea and a chance to play in GSTL.

Coach Lee pays for his players to go to foreign events out of his own pocket, this actually makes some of the other Korean teams Jealous of him because he can afford to send his players to events, and many of the other Korean teams can't or won't. Coach Lee also put up a lot of money to get TSL a nice new teamhouse a couple months back, its actually the largest teamhouse in Korea.
Coach Lee cares a lot about his players. He always tries to do what is best for the players.

Exactly. Its also one of the reasons he gets so "crazy" or offended when teams poach his players or when a player betrays his trust. He has also willingly released players from contracts when he feels he cannot provide for them what he promised or what they expect (JYP, Clide, SangHo/Killer, TesteR/sSKS, FruitDealer).
I wonder who will take their place in the gstl. Well im glad that the zenex players will stay in the scene. congratz to startale for picking up some more talent.

Fnatic disagrees.
11(this season)-1 (zenex) = 10 which is an even number, I don't understand what fnatic has to do with this
