Bought to throw more money to it once R1CH posts up these new TL hoodies.

Honestly, aside from missing a few outings on weekends, I don't play the game enough to miss out on much in life other than when I force myself to get up early to watch GSL rather than sleep in.

Way too much time. Money for gaming gear. I like everything i got in return from sc2. But i do think about replacing sc2 hobby with something much more helthier and less brain hurting. I like to watch it but somehow after all the games i watched i feel little oversaturated, games aren't that exciting... at least for me.
Reality hits you hard bro.

My contributions:
  • Hundreds upon hundreds of dollars poured into SC2 organizations (GSL yearly tickets start to get up there in price );
  • money dumped into sponsorship gear (namely Razer and Steelseries)
  • I've begun contributing to Liquipedia;
  • made some maps and shared them (one of which is getting featured in the July map pool of the recently announced Mapper's Monthly, woot!);
  • host and help run a small Canadian-centric SC2 community called The Canadian Dominion;
  • help run and manage small tournaments for said community

Worth every second spent, too. :D

Let's be honest here... Most people don't spend money to go to events to grow eSports, most people do it because it entertains them and they find joy in watching or playing games... I doubt that anyone on here can say they sacrificed everything in their lives just to help eSports grow, without getting anything back in return.

Everything in their lives? No, but many have put at least some time, effort, and sometimes even into it without any sort of reward with their specific motivation being the growth of the scene.

Besides the time I have spent in anything in relation with e-sports, PC gear and buying games, I have spent 40€ to get into Hall 23 in Hannover on the CeBiT, just to see Grubby and Apollo talking about the last game which just ended. 20 minuts talking with TT1, DIMAGA, TaKe and many more and also seeing IdrA ragequitting.

But after thsoe 20 minuts I had to go back to school since I was on a schoold trip.

Plan on buying some TL merch when hoodies are added. Stores disabled atm anyway =|

Following up on my 1st post just spent $100 O_o on Hoodie, t-shirt, and Rising Donation for poster :D

Pricey but totally worth it.

My high school GPA tanked from 3.8/3.9 to 3.5 in the last two years because of eSports. Skipping homework and studying to play SC2. Now it is very unlikely I will be going to a high level university out of my state or getting good scholarships that allow me to afford the out of state school I want. I went from noob bronze to high diamond/masters although recently I haven't played much. I want to keep playing but I need to wait for a new comp because mine is old and simply can't run the game well.

I don't have any kids, but my wife says I'm a "game-a-holic" rofl. I have to play when she's asleep so that she doesn't complain.

I know what you mean about playing early in the morning or late at night.

how is buying products and paying for flights to events "giving things up?" its no different than taking a vacation. I disagree buying a product JUST because a esport company is sponsored, I bought my steel series keyboard because I needed a new keyboard and I like what they produce. The fact that they help other companies and things I love is a bonus, but companies shouldn't get sales if their products are shit just because they're helping grow the scene. I don't think i've sacrificed anything for esports because there is less I'd rather do than have a weekend hanging with my girl and watching mlg.
wot?

Then those are the people that need to post... Not people posting about how they spent some money to fly to a tournament, which they did for the entertainment.

nothing. I work 40 hours a week, I go to school full time studying pre-med with a 4.0 GPA at Harvard, I go to the gym 3 hours (I max at 350 pounds and have a 5 minute mile run) a day, I have a girlfriend that I have been dating for 2 years so far, and I am still a top 8 master terran on the eu and na ladder and top 32 master on korean ladder using a Micro$oft Intellimouse and a shitty Dell keyboard and I get only 30 FPS because my PC blows plus I lag a lot on KR ladder. I watch gsl live everytime it is on as well as every single tournament. I watch any terran stream of a good player. I still get sufficient 8 hours of sleep.
