I'd like for DH to go a step further and invite more top Koreans in their future tournaments. I feel DH is the most prestigious European tournament out there so it makes sense for them to go to the next level. The majority of people want to see the highest levels of play no matter what the nationality of the players have.

It's an open tournament, anyone can join. The big DH tournament is the Winter one, where they will invite the top players from Summer, Valencia and Stockholm Open

This line up is laughable compared to MLG. I understand Dreamhack wants to be "fair" to everyone and not pay for some people to come and not for others, but it is a very stupid philosophy from an entertainment perspective.

I agree. I don't get excited for dreamhacks due to the lack of top koreans. The last dreamhack had one of the worst lineup I've seen in a long time, not only due to lack of koreans, but barely any top foreign pros attended too. I read socke doesn't attend cause only top 4 get money, so he doesn't feel it's worth it.

I remember watching some dreamhacks last year as those seemed to get some good koreans, I think. However, the player quality has dropped a lot this year. I may watch the finals depending on who is in it, but as a tournament, dreamhack isn't very interesting to me.

You really should the European skill lvl has risen alot and its allways exciting to see fresh and new talent come out. Who knowns maybe a new Stephano will arive. Also Dreamhack allways delivers a great show especially on the production level.

The production is always top notch, which makes the lack of world class players all the more disappointing.

while its true that the player field could be a bit better, european tournaments dont need 15 koreans to have top notch players around like MLG.

First thing I thought: Wow, Taeja will be raping his group.

It's so obvious it just pops out at you.

That's true but where are Grubby, Feast, Socke, Lucifron, Kas? I'm sure I'm forgetting some others. There are a decent number of top Europeans missing. Combine that with the fact that the tourney is light on Koreans, and completely void of top-end Koreans, it makes for a pretty lackluster field, especially relative to the prestige that is associated with the Dreamhack name.

Just goes to show that the names don't make the tournaments. The competition is stiff, there's several code-S player as well as the best foreigners and that includes world class players. Not everyone can participate in every tournament. The last dreamhack had, for my money, the most memorable moment so far this year in SC2 regardless of it having an arguably weaker lineup

Lucifron has exams afaik, Socke is tired and not in good enough shape after two big events in one week and traveling so much, Feast is also busy with school if I remember correctly, Grubby qualified for StarsWar in China and is playing there this weekend. Kas, I don't know.

I'll still enjoy DreamHack, because there are a lot of players I'm excited about, and many of those are attending. It's not a second GSL, but that's not what Dreamhack aspires to be. They stay true to themselves, make a good show out of it and I like it that way.

Also, it's always interesting for me to see how the European players stack up against the Koreans, what their current skill level is like and how they rank among themselves.

Might or might not be the same way for you Americans in your "domestic" events, I don't know.
