Poor Socke gets the group of death!

Now we just wonder if MLG will kick off with DRG/MC or Polt/Stephano.

Probably Stephano/ Polt thats a pretty hot rivalry

DRG/MC has gotten pretty hot lately too, theyve played each other last too MLGs and they have 3 GSLs between them both and DRG is the best zerg and MC is Boss Toss soo idk.

How does this format work? OK Four groups of four. Only the Group winners advance but what about 2nd placed in the Groups? Are they out or drop into losers Bracker? Is there Double Elimination? Where does the Open Bracket come into it? Extended Series? Can someone shed some light on this for me?

Last 8 in Open Winners Bracket advance into Pool Play
Last 8 in Open Losers Bracket advance into Championship Losers Bracket Round 1

Pool Play
1st Place = Championship Winners Semifinals (A Winner vs. D Winner & B Winner vs. C Winner)
2nd Place = Championship Losers Bracket Round 6
3rd Place = Championship Losers Bracket Round 5
4th Place = Championship Losers Bracket Round 4
5th Place = Championship Losers Bracket Round 3
6th Place = Championship Losers Bracket Round 2

Extended Series = Yes

With the Pools set, we're now able to tell you which Pool Play matches have been set to broadcast on Friday, June 8 at the Spring Championship.

Friday's Pool Play matches will be mainly aired on the Red Stream and Premium 1. The Blue Stream will be airing mainly matches from the USA Nationals of the WCS, and Premium 2 will be airing mainly matches from the Open Bracket of the Spring Championship. Please see the full schedules for all streams to see all the information about those streams.

Remember: to get all the streams in ad-free HD, and access the two Premium streams, you'll need to use your Spring Season Pass, Gold Membership, or buy a Spring Championship Live Streaming Pass now.

Here is the updated schedule for Friday Pool Play:

Wait, that basically means that half of the pool matches on Friday will be played offstream? On top of that, Socke for example plays one streamed game on a premium stream.

That means he gets near to no exposure in the beginning of a tournament that is stacked to no end (relatively low chance of big price money), especially in the main target group of his team (Germany/EU).

Props to Alternate for sending Socke there and him actually attending. From a financial standpoint, there are not many arguments for doing that.

Is MLG covering the travel expenses of the seeded players?

MLG pays for everyone in the pool play. So Alternate isn't paying anything this time around. But they have sent him to MLGs before. And they can't cast as many pool play games because of the NA WCS.

The schedule allows for 30 mins for Polt vs Stephano bo3? I would expect it to take longer than that but who knows.

OK, thx for the info. That makes it a little bit more logical.

MC and DRG seems to meet every MLG lately...
The score keeps going back and forth...
I'm a bit afraid for DRG, honestly.
MC is so good at defending multiprong attacks

Three foreigners in pool play: Stephano, Grubby, and Sockeh. Very nice Sockeh, looking forward to your games

Extended series? I thought we were done with that, or was its removal a one off? -_-
Stephano vs Polt will be awesome as always, there are great matches all over the place here.

nope, just a one-of

If/when MKP advances #1 in his pool, he should take out the top of pool C as it is quite easily, securing top 3. GOGO MKP~

Symbol + MarineKing + Parting are enough to make people scream "Group of Death" for GSL Code S, but replace Parting with a foreigner, and the Symbol + MarineKing group gets no love.

http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=341534

Personally, I don't think there IS a group of death in either these groups or the GSL groups: all the groups have great players interspersed about as well as you could hope.
Second favorite strategy game of all time: Starcraft. First: Go (aka Wei Qi, Paduk, or Igo)
