and while I respect the analysis of Apollo I can't stand his voice/mannerisms, with his almost whispered excitement and "sooooooo much damage!!!" Much rather prefer the casting archon. And kind of glad Day9 isn't going to be there. Some of his more rabid fans need to open up to watching other casters, old and new. I'm excited myself to watch a few different streams with some new casters instead of just sitting and waiting for my 1 favorite caster to stream. Good times ahead.

But it proves the point that the Starcraft (2) community has their priorities wrong in terms of who is put into the spotlight. Broodwar/any other esport: Player > Team > Organizer > Caster Starcraft2: Caster > Organizer > Player > Team

Its nauseating to hear casters kiss everyone's ass and make excuses for bad decisions. We need casters to tell the truth. Accomplishments during beta are irrelevent in regards to current performances.

He ruins any event with his overly fake enthusiasm, poor teamwork with co-casters, and completely bullshit improvised "analysis". Day9 fans don't really like esports or starcraft at all anyways. They just want to watch The Day9 Show. I'm actually a bit surprised how many admit they won't even watch the best players in the world compete for a high prize pool because all they care about is watching Day9's egocentric masturbatory rambling. Hmm saying day9 ruins events is the wrong thing to say, especially here. However, I think you're right about his fake enthusiasm and his horrible teamwork casting skills. Do people really believe he really finds silly immature things so funny that he basically falls off his chair or interupts other casters with laughter? If he really does find things that funny he's a little bit off lol. "and completely bullshit improvised "analysis"" His analytical casting is very good by himself, not sure what you watched to make you think his analysis is bullshit and improvised. I just get a little sick of how people think he's a saint because of how he acts on camera, you people don't really know him and neither do I but there has been talk in the community that he can be an asshole - not confirmed of course, just throwing in something for people to think about before they make him their idol. I really hate it when people keep harping on this "fake enthusiasm." Let's be real, people are just acting all cynical to try to justify themselves in their lack of sunny disposition. It's a classic psychological process, to think "oh, he looks to be a really really fantastic human being, he must obviously be hiding something dark and evil!" to console oneself on one's own lack of pure goodness. I never said he was "hiding something dark and evil". And there is a difference between being enthusiastic about something and acting like you've just been stuck in a room full of laughing gas everytime you hear a joke. Most casters are very enthusiastic about what they do, you can tell, but Day[9] goes way overboard.

Anyway, its because the casters get more interaction with the fans, especially at events. You could probably count on one hand the number of players that are even remotely close to Day in popularity...

Other casters do it, and the world doesn't end. But that aside, I, as a mid-Masters player on EU, Day9's "analysis" (while casting, since I haven't watched a daily in a long time) feels very insubstantial to me. It's like Cloud said in his vlog, Day9 concentrates on random stuff which is often barely relevant to how the actual game plays out, and in the process misses the important decisions and details of execution that make one player win and the other lose. As opposed to Khaldor and Wolf for example, wherein I always feel like they're focused on the meat of the game, even if Wolf calls every battle incorrectly. Maybe Day9 does understand the game well, but his casting comes off as "The Sean Plott Show, featuring SC2 in the background". And I feel like the amount of "No Day9, not watching" sentiment in this thread supports this idea. His fans clearly prefer to watch Day9 play Skyrim over the world's best players competing in SC2 in one of this year's largest offline tournaments. So in that sense, he's like the reverse Husky. I really hate going off topic in this thread but what kind of things do you consider random and barely relevant that Day 9 focuses on during his casts and daily streams? I'd have to rewatch some vods in order to offer proper examples, but here's something from Red Bull Battlegrounds that immediately stood out as random and irrelevant. The game was Thorzain vs Sheth, I believe, and Day9 suddenly started talking about how amazing Thorzain is with distributing his workers among bases. Then the observer proceeds to show Thorzain's bases, and it's immediately obvious that Thorzain just did the same thing everyone else does - got up to optimal saturation on his main/nat, and rallied his CCs to his third's minerals. He's kind of like the Paulo Coelho of sc2 casting, really good at creating an illusion of depth. ![]() Also, a friend told me Sundance hates Dutch people and that's why Rotterdam isn't casting. Damn you Sundance, so unprofessional.

![]() I genuinely hope that everybody is trolling about speculation of why Rotterdam isn't casting. It's been mentioned so many times and thought it was general common knowledge before anyways that he would be representing ROOT in the open bracket.........
