The benevolent genius joins the evil ones!
"No way!", was my initial reaction when I saw this on the side menu this morning. "He... did... not..."
But reading ThorZaiN's statement about his second thoughts regarding pro-gaming and knowing how well he got along with the SlayerS guys whom he will be able to reunite with, I believe it is a good thing, certainly so for Marcus. It is sad news for mouz obviously, but I hope they will keep on trucking regardless.
And even though my favorite team will always be Liquid (hey, where was your "contract is up" intel, guys? ), I congratulate EG for this great pickup. Additionally I would like to commend them for making this great announcement video without the unnecessary pre-announcement hype. The absent-mindedly placed trophies all over the house, the random Swedish flag in the EG lair garage at first, Anna and Bryce playing with spoons in the background, the "Jävla terran!" chessboard throw, Ben and Bryce putting up that big ThorZaiN poster on the wall, and finally the zoom out to a big "Welcome ThorZaiN!" party in front of the house all the while Geoff does not say a single word in that regard even once -- brilliant, very well done!
"Thor is here." indeed, and the next GSL season (if ThorZaiN gets the second Code S seed beside Stephano, NaNiwa still in Code S) is shaping up to be full of the best foreigners.
Congratulations again ThorZaiN and EG!
P.S.: Instead of that final zoom-in with the out-of-place sound from the Inception movie, I think it would have been even better to just display a delayed "Yes, he did." in smaller letters under the big-letter "EG.THORZAIN" while keeping the up-beat whistle tune a little longer, hehe.

Complexity is more known of the NY Yankees of eSports but most of you people are to nieve to even realize it, they just BOUGHT 3 korean players with NO results.

The Spoon Genius is born. Not a fan of EG (apart from Huk and DeMusliM), but I love the thought of Thorzain practicing with Slayers. I even remember MMA stating in an interview that he admires Thorzain as an analyst and player.

Think of it from thorzain's perspective and maybe you'll understand. Does Thorzain's financial situation get better or worse? Does his life as a professional gamer get more stable or less?
If you watch sports, you can easily think of analogies there as well. For example, in the NBA, rookies who blossom into allstars or franchise level players get paid one way or another.
You can also try and imagine yourself in a business development position. If you were hired to improve team X and was given Y amount of resources, would you prefer to hire someone whose proven or someone whose unproven. Which choice would give you more publicity and have the best chance of providing a positive return of investment?

How dare Thorzain be interested in a larger and better contract with one of the most financially stable pro teams in the foreign world who are also going to pay for him to live and practise in Korea.
Seriously it is kind of sad when players get noticed and get recognized for their improvements and picked up onto new teams. Like remember how Mouz <3 Thorzain even before he won TSL3 >.>
Seriously people this happens and we should be happy when good players are offered more money to play.

Great pickup by EG and I'm glad to finally see Thorzain in a good team.

Not every single person on the planet shares your "I only care about money" attitude and although this might be reality doesn't mean it's great or everything people should strive for... but I guess most people really don't care about anything else than money... super sad story!

The video was hilarious and the news is amazing! EG fighting!
|
Good luck Thorzain with your new team! and grats to both team and player. No more Master Jane.

Thorzain! Fk yeah, EG is getting better and better all the time. Hopefully he'll get to learn a lot from MMA and start to kick ass in GSL!

When a person grows up then they understand that they need money to pay bills, eat, etc. Thorzain could all of a sudden fall of the sc2 map so the more money he gets now the better it is for him. Thats how the real world works. Plus no one knows why Thorzain joined eg. You assume its money which might be a part of it but the fact of the matter is eg has better players to practice with especially when you include slayers. When you turn down a job that pays you way more money just so you dont "sell out" then come back and talk to us. You people who keep making this argument dont have a grip on reality and thats a "super sad story". If pros didnt care about money they would just ladder all day and not worry about tournaments. Name me one player who doesn't want to get paid more. Come join us here on planet earth please. Maybe Mouz should have tried harder to improve their team like EG has and they too could attract top players.

eSports is still very fragile and most players struggle to make a living.
This isn't "I only care about money", this is "I can't waste my youth playing games for nothing".
