Well the games were all ranked - that's the only time I have the program open. I played a random diamond player though, we were also both in ranked. Maybe that caused it? Though the jump came games after that so I don't think it was the cause.

The cause is always related to the 'good game' that causes the jump. At the moment reason is unknown, but highly likely due data error e.g. due out-of-sync web profiles.

Could you provide me your account name e.g. via private message. I will add it to accounts that I should check in the future. Also if possible check the opponent's name from the 'good game' that caused the jump, then go to [PATH_TO]\Sc2gears\User content\Plugin file cache\mmr.plugin.MMRPlugin\ and open file called 'log.txt'. Search for the opponent's name and copy log data for several matches both before and after including the match itself. Data for one match starts with line "hh:mm:ss Game Start detected" and ends with a line "hh:mm:ss Ladder Game Done!" (hh:mm:ss is the time). Add that data inside spoiler tags and send it to me with your account name & the opponents name.

Absolutely amazing tool.

Just installed it. Iv'e only got 10 games into it so far and it seems to have me on the upper side of gold even though I'm actually in silver.

Here's a screenshot:

http://screencast.com/t/kGyrVRIQ5w

All games are ranked.

If there's any data you guys need let me know. In the meantime, thank you for making it. This is really cool.

As a heads up, it seems like the league boundaries were adjusted again tonight, similar to what Blizzard did last season.

It's very possible. I'm gonna do some asking around, might find something out. I've seen a number of posts about it as well.

Yes thank you. I was just going to write here that based on multiple bnet forum threads there has been increase regarding promotions. And based on your graphs it is indeed so. This time it seems that also relative master offset / threshold has changed unlike the last time.

I have not yet checked the MMR tool data. But it is likely that Blizzard has changed the offsets / thresholds. Thus the MMR tool data will become erratic for two to three weeks weeks until new offsets can be calculated. This time thought it will be little bit more difficult as due data errors due out-of-sync updating web profiles some of the user data is giving incorrect values.

If and when there has been offset changes, I hope Blizzard will confirm it somehow and does not skew things too much in their confirmation.

Not sure if it tells something, but at least the gold/plat border may have been moved considerably. I got promoted both on AM and EU after first wins today. The funny thing is: I'm about 40% this season on the EU server and as of yesterday my MMR was hovering around 600-650.

Scelight and Sc2gears are separate programs. At the moment the plugin only supports the latest Sc2gears, but does not support Scelight.

This may change in the future. At the moment I haven't had time for porting and there are lots of open questions that need to be negotiated. For example the Scelight has a paywall. Users who have not purchased Scelight license have no auto-start feature. Due to that lots of users would forget to start Scelight during the 15 sec wait time. It is already a problem with Sc2gears that users forget to start Sc2gears which leads to lost data. With Scelight lots of more data would be lost as it is not enough just to start it. Time will tell if porting other replay parsers than Scelight needs to be considered in the future.

Data quality is very important regarding the MMR tool. Blizzard just changed the league offsets / thresholds. To be able to calculate new offsets lots of good quality data is needed. At the moment Scelight would be a downgrade compared to Sc2gears as it would lead to lost data. At the moment there are other things affecting the data quality too. Blizzard's web servers are suffering from out-of-sync updates that cause data errors regarding the match data. Coping with that is already problematic.

But in the future when I have time for developing new features, the open questions (there are more) regarding potential Scelight port will be discussed.

Time will tell how the old MMR ranges were mapped out into the new league ranges. For example that old 600 to 650 MMR range meant low to mid gold range.

For active users the memory reader user percent is high (some 70% to 90 %). For less active some 30% to 60%. The percentages are guesses based on just looking at the data, not counting. The tool is usually used for some 5k to 10k character accounts per season (thought there are lots of those who only test the tool for few games which is usually not enough to get good readings).

At the moment when Blizzard's web servers are often updating out-of-sync it is recommended to have memory reader on. It gives e.g. more chances to recognize out-of-sync data and set it bad. But as memory reading is against SC2 ToS, the decision is left to the user even if the risk is minimal.

Ah, so Blizzard has not said anything regarding this tool? I'm wondering if Blizzard will ever start banning accounts for reading the RAM.

They have never publicly commented the tool. The tool has existed for a two years now.

They don't ban for things they cannot detect. Detecting memory reading is in many cases unfeasible. E.g. laws set considerable limitations, risk of false positives can be high, etc. They could potentially target the memory reader itself, but why would they? It does not read anything that gives edge for the user. It only reads character names and character id:s for both players at the start of each match and then shuts down. Nothing else. And as it is publicly available they can any time download it & check that it indeed reads only those things. The risk of getting banned for it is minimal (nobody has been banned and unlikely will be). But as memory reading is against ToS, the choice whether to use it or not has been left to the user (as default it is off).

There are also other tools that fetch data from the memory. For example some streaming tools fetch character names and then show it e.g. in stream chat or somewhere else. It is typical for those tools, that they purposely forget to mention that memory reading is used or hide that information deep in the readme files. The user should always be aware, even if the risk is minimal.

There's also the way they internally categorize third-party programs: those that have hostile intentions, those that provide an unfair advantage to the user, and those that are inoffensive. Blizzard knew for a long time about BW plugins like PenguinPlug which allowed text to be packaged into replays (before they included this feature officially) as well as detect cheaters, but they didn't take action because PenguinPlug was beneficial. Something as famous as the MMR-Stats tool has no doubt reached their ears, and if they were going to do something about it, they probably already would have.
