Yes. As the tool had no Korean GM users for several seasons, I used the EU borders for Korea too for a long time period. I was surprised too when I learned that the actual Korean border was that much lower than the EU border.

But remember that those numbers behind the link were pre-offset-change numbers. The numbers you see in MMR tool now are the converted numbers that correspond the current offsets (Initial low entry border will likely be 2200 to 2250 for EU if the old trends actualize also this time).

Thank you for developing this tool. I received a "good game" after 13 games, putting me around mid-low diamond. It feels good to know just how far I need to go to get to masters.

Glad to see the mmr tool is 100% accurate for me.
Didn't play for about 6 months i was plat before for 4 seasons and got demoted to low gold,it tool 60 games-48 wins-12 losses 80% win rate to get promoted to plat.The mmr decay sucks

2014-03-13: MMR tool v. 10.2 released + unranked detection for lost matches disabled (DB v. 17.6)

Please restart sc2gears to get 'update' button to appear. Release notes are available in the original message.


Some notes regarding the changes:

Unranked detection had to be disabled for lost matches for all servers. If some of your unranked matches are recorded, please remove them manually. Reason for this decision is that Blizzard's web profiles are often updating out-of-sync (has been happening for some weeks): - Sometimes everything fine, but sometimes only match history is updated immediately, but it takes several minutes before the other data, such as the ladder division page, is updated. Out-of-sync data often looks like data from an unranked match and thus the tool will drop the data (unranked games are not supported by the tool). And lately this has been happening often. At least both EU and NA servers are affected. I did not test the other servers.

The unranked detection needs to be re-enabled when Blizzard fixes their web profiles. In the meantime please check the main log of the MMR tool from time to time. The following messages are related to the out-of-sync issue:
'Unranked detection thinks this was an unranked match, but the detection is disabled for lost matches ...'
'ERROR PRECHECK Player: WEBSERVER no update happened!'
'ERROR PRECHECK PRE-Player: WEBSERVER middle update happened!'

If in the future you see these messages appear much more seldom than now, please notify it in this thread. It might be a sign that Blizzard would have fixed the web profiles.


The out-of-sync issue affects non-memory-reader users more. If memory reader is on, the tool can fetch both pre-game and post-game data for both players. And it can then compare the pre- and post-game data and identify when the data is out-of-sync. But for non-memory-reader users there is no pre-profile for the opponent & the tool cannot check if the data was out-of-sync. This means that the likelihood of data errors regarding 'good games' (games from which MMR can be calculated) has been increased considerably.

No news at the moment. I am busy with other things and there are open questions that need to be negotiated before potential porting may proceed. Also if Scelight support will be added, the current idea is that sc2gears support will not cease.

Sorry if this has been answered before.

Based on the log I would say you have configured it correctly. The main problem here is that the NA web profiles are nowadays often updating out-of-sync. This has been going on for some time and Blizzard has not fixed the problem.

Based on my test games couple of weeks back it seemed that data collection regarding quite large percentage of the matches on NA server was affected by the issue (one or more of these fetches return out-of-sync data: player pre-profile, player post-profile, opponent pre-profile, opponent post-profile). But there were also matches for which the profiles updated promptly. Couple of days ago I played few more test games. NA web profiles were still having issues. I only played one game on EU and for it the web profiles updated immediately.


Until Blizzard fixes the web profiles, it is based on luck, if the web profiles are updated promptly for your matches. For example in the last match of your log, the opponent's pre- and post-data was ok, but he was capped so your MMR could not be calculated from it. (when it says the quality was 50% there were problems regarding the data and the data was set bad, 75% means the data was ok, but MMR could not be calculated from it (capping mechanism), 100% means MMR could be calculated. Also note that your MMR is calculated from the opponent's data and the opponents MMR is calculated from your MMR data).

I got a question. i just bought a new computer and installed hots and mmr tool.
i configured the tool right (i think) cause he is updating my am profile. but when i play on EU he only does the following:

The tool doesnt make any update in the graphs, and not post trig etc....so what did i missed....

The basic set-up on the tool side is correct. But I suspect you have not configured the sc2gears auto-save features correctly. Choose 'Tools' from the Sc2gears toolbar and then 'Miscellaneous settings'. The auto-save related settings are in two tabs: 'Replay auto-save' and 'Folders'. As you now play on several servers, then each server has its own 'account'. Thus you need to configure several auto replay folders (one for each server / account). Test the new settings e.g. via custom games to make sure they work for EU too.

Korona i have a problem with this program when i'm end a match , MMR says thats need more data , and i dont know what to do with that

If the number of recorded matches is increasing, then it is recording the matches, but none thus far has provided good enough data for calculating your MMR (of course there might be other problems regarding your settings). You can read about the capping mechanism (if opponent is 'capped' your MMR cannot be calculated. According to Blizzard the ladders are supposed to be locked tomorrow midnight (Monday 12:01 a.m.) at local server times. Thus tomorrow (Sunday) I will release a DB file that locks the data (after that new match data is set invalid, but can be used as estimate data). If there are no problems regarding the ladder lock, I should be able to check the final bonus pools during Monday and release a new DB file that unlocks the data for MMR tool once again.

I just released a new DB file 17.7. It locks the data (new data is set invalid). Tomorrow when ladders for all servers have been season locked, I will check the final maximum bonus pools and release another DB file that unlocks the data (if everything goes as planned in Blizzard's end).

Please restart Sc2gears to download the new DB file. If your server has not yet been season-locked, you can delay downloading the DB by not restarting Sc2gears until the season lock has started. The season lock should start at midnight at local server time (CET for Europe, PDT for NA, KST for KR and so on).

Hmm, my MMR tool appears to be broken. I had 1950 mmr last time i checked. Then I played a number of games without the tool and unfortunately ended up with about -10 wins :S I opened my mmr tool again now and it picked up my mmr from 1950, saying it has accurate game data. It's hard for me to believe its still 1950 due to those losses - any1 with a solution to this?

Next 'good game' will fix it (a game from which your MMR can be calculated). Until that it will use estimates that assume that all games have been recorded. (Note that I locked the DB couple of hours ago due season lock. Thus no new 'good games' are possible until I release a new DB on Monday)

If you want to see which ones are 'good games' you can hover your mouse cursor over the match dots or show them visually by choosing 'Config' > 'Data' > 'Mark assumptions / bad games'.

2014-04-07: DB version 17.8 released

Please restart Sc2gears to download it. It sets the final bonus pools for season 17 (S1/2014) and unlocks the data.


The final bonus pools for S17 were:

For master & gm:
EU, NA: 2441
KR, SEA, CN: 2442

For diamond & below:
EU, NA, KR, SEA, CN: 1416

Next Monday at 00:01 (local server time - for EU CET, NA PDT, KR KST) Blizzard is supposed to start season 18 (S2/2014). Thus next Sunday I will release a new DB file that locks the data. And potentially few days later when Blizzard has updated the web profiles for the new season, I will release the lock.

Damn, there is really some inaccuracy in the mmr tool. As I stated in a few posts before, my mmr was 1950 before i went on a losing streak, 10 games negative and now it indicates my mmr is 1600. that would mean it was an average of 35 points lost per game, when in reality it records a change of ~15 mmr on the replays it saves. Now I'm really confused to which rating is actually correct.

If you had the program closed during those 10 games, it would not calculate your MMR for them. Therefor, you would still be at the 1950 it last calculated. So, if the next 10 games can't be fully calculated, it will use 1950 as a reference point. Once you get a full calculated "good" game, it will adjust itself.
