Great pick for Liquid, nice to see another player helping Jinro to hold the Terran Flag up. TLPD should really start giving points in proportion with the importance / level of the tournament. Because right now this is definetly NOT the korean top 5 and even more, Taeja as good as he is, is NOT #1 in the world. And there should be no doubt about this. On the same note, Huk who was the last standing foreigner at the last 2 MLG's isn't event in the "foreigner" Top 5. Same for Naniwa who was twice at the MLG's the second last standing foreigner. But you have Fraer and LiveZerg who can't be compared seriously for a second to Naniwa and HuK. ELO works by comparing the scores of the players, so simplified: Beat stronger opponents, get higher score. Why should it matter WHERE two players meet? If Taeja beats Jjakji or aLive in ESV, don't you think he's able to do the same in Code S? Because the "korean" scene is separeted of the international scene. There are not enough games between "foreigners" and "koreans" to mesure accurately the strength difference between koreans and foreigners. For example : a korean that has 2500 Elo rating has not the same level as a foreigner that has also 2500 Elo. So when you start calculating points based on the results of a tournament games between foreigners and koreans, they won't be acurate. I'm not even talking about the K factor who's not the most optimal one for TLPD (20 compared to 24/25). EDIT : Taeja just lost vs Jjakji in Code S groups.

Yes, it's rigged and a big joke. I'm sorry, saying that TLPD was "rigged" was harsh. I just think that it is a strange coincidence that the player that Team Liquid just signed and that hasn't had as much success compared to a lot of other korean players is now #1. Yes, it's rigged and a big joke. I think he just wants it to be biased where every game against a foreigner is not counted or counted less because, you know, foreigners are bad and could never beat a korean anyways ![]() It's true that due to the limited interaction between Korean and international players, the TLPD is not a perfect representation but it's close enough and will correct itself in the future. Liquid`TaeJa is really, really strong and now with Liquid he has good contact with the huge amount of international fans which should inspire him to such greatness that noone will doubt the #1 spot again.

Yes, it's rigged and a big joke. Pretty sure it must have been Arpad Elo that rigged the algorithm before it got first used in 1960 with a small little flaw that would make Taeja get #1 just for this announcement. It was planned all from the start!! By the way, how much did you pay Arpad for this? Worth it? Must have been like Nazguls mother or something that convinced him.

You just proved that you didn't know what you were talking about. - The best way to solve the problem is actually to increase the K factor for games that have an interaction between the korean player population and the foreigner population because it increases the weight of the more recent games. - And the problem won't correct itself with time because it's not accumulating more games with those interactions that's important but more the number of games in a certain amount of time (like 6 month for example).

Yes, it's rigged and a big joke. Its rigged but its not a joke, in fact it is scary. The amount of knowledge and calculating power needed to rigg it so far in advance clearly shows that TL is cooperating with starcraft loving aliens in a secret plot to take over the Earth.

No, I just think that the fact that Taeja has the highest rating on TLPD while not being as good as DongRaeGu and MarineKing (there are more examples) and the fact that he just go picked up by Team Liquid is ... strange.

As pointed out previously, the elo system counts every game the same, while some would say that MLG and GSL games should count for more. As it is, taeja does crazy well in less important (non MLG, GSL) games, as you can see from his winstreak on TLPD. Because of that he gets a very high elo rating, even higher than DRG and MKP. You can argue that this is a flaw of the algorithm, but insinuating that it is rigged just shows that you have no idea how the ranking works.

And nine, nine rings were gifted to the race of Men, who above all else desire power. For within these rings was bound the strength and the will to govern each race. But they were all of them deceived, for another ring was made. In the land of the Netherlands, in the Fires of Mount Scenery, the Dark Lord Nazgul forged in secret a master ring to control all others, and into this ring he poured his micro, his macro and his will to dominate all life. One ring to rule them all. He is coming.
