It was just coincidence that WoW had its first decline in subscribers as LoL expanded to all the key Asian markets?

If you actually play WoW you will realise WoW's decline has zero to do with other games and 100% to do with how bad Catacylsm is in addition to how WoW always goes a bit dead at the end of an expansion cycle.

I'm sure there will be. It's most likely that the SC2 league will be run alongside the BW league (would be stupid if not).

LoL is killing WoW and now starting to steal SC2's esport spotlight. Blizzard needs to take measures to compete against LoL or two of their three core franchises are in trouble and Mike Morhaime is going to lose his job as Blizzard's sales keep falling short of expectations. Hopefully they drop their ridiculous licensing fees and revenue sharing requirements for hosting SC2 tournaments and put more money into promoting the SC2 esport scene like how Riot is pumping millions into promoting LoL esports.
The problem with Blizzard is short sightedness. Instead of supporting the growth of SC2 esports as a low cost way to continually market the game and their brands and maintain continued brand interest and long tail sales, Blizzard instead tried to grab up front cash and stifled the growth of SC2 esports. Aren't WoW and LoL completely different kind of game? -_-"
He's talking about the pro scene, WoW is quickly losing ground and LoL is on the rise, not to mention that a lot of WoW pros already switched to LoL.

Exact thoughts.

Wow hasn't had real pro players since TBC (3 years?) when blizzard quit updating spectator ui aka removed the ability to host any other tournaments than annual blizzcon.

I think this is only good news as BW is clearly in decline (being overtaken by LoL) and SC2 is the new game. You should support this decision as a Starcraft fan. BW people may argue that SC2 is not as in depth as BW (which it probably isn't), but i'd take SC2 any day over watching a team of 5 idiots a-moving a single hero unit down 3 alleyways.
lol they aint trying to sabotage. we want esports to grow too. lol taking over bw? I think it's more that LoL is taking over SC2. think about that. sc2 had the limelight but now it is already getting trumped by a new game. what do you say about that?

Time for IPL to rebrand? The step down from "second best SC tournament called Proleague" to "second best SC2 tournament called Proleague" must be pretty tough to take.
|
SC2 has more interest and money in the foreign scene at the moment. Look at the prize pools from recent MLGs, and the upcoming IPL4. Even smaller events have fairly impressive prize pools.
GOM has proven there's interest, and money to be made from the foreign SC2 fan-base, I think KeSPA would be missing out on decent profits if they ignored the foreign scene.
IMO, foreign interest in SC2 is bigger than it's ever been in SC:BW

I say that LoL has overtaken SC:BW as the number 1 e-sport in Korea and it is totally terrible.

I think this is great news. I agree with the statement about 5 people a-moving a single unit down 3 paths. Made me LOL.

You completely missed the point in so many ways.

The point is, if you were Pro Esports you wouldn't be so anti-LoL.

Hahaha exactly what I thought when I saw that. MMA's TvP is pretty abysmal, I'd have to say Bisu would win that if he was comfortable with SC2.

This is untrue. WoW's biggest decline in population happened the day after they announced the followup expansion to Cataclysm.
The one that has nothing to do with warcraft and occurs in pseudo asia on the back of a giant turtle populated with panda people.

As much as I like this news, I dislike it cause BW Proleague may close. If both continue, this would be more than great news to me. Please... also BW Proleague
