Also, what's with all the "Honestly, I don't care about all the interface updates, I just want balance updates."? First of all, the UI and in-game communication needs SERIOUS help, and they understood that. The game is pretty f'ing balanced... they're not going to release balance updates for the hell of it.

"We’re also working on a feature that will help players connect with other players and games that are near their location (connecting through the same IP). We believe this will primarily be used by people in internet gaming rooms, offices, dorm rooms, and local tournaments where you just want to find the guy sitting in the desk next to you. Although this may not be ready in time for the release of patch 1.5, we do intend to have this available by the time Heart of the Swarm ships." Anyone else got any ideas what this NEW and amazing technology that allows you to play with other people who are near your location (connecting through the same IP) might be? ![]()

I'm happy with what I got for my $50. If you aren't, you might as well stop buying video games, cause you're gonna be disappointed. They've got your money already. Anything they do beyond the first few balancing acts is purely for the community and fans, and done with little/no hope of attracting enough new players to pay for the continuing development. You think SC:BW continued to make them money? Doubtful, otherwise why would they go after OGN to get some, nor would they demand money from companies profiting from their continually developed product.

Still, where are these "future" dev panels where they talk about the patch? Has anything else been said?

I think you forgot that Blizzard makes money out of every big tournament (if the prize-pool goes over some specified amount the tournament host has to pay a margin to blizz) and also has a partnership with gomtv and soon one with Kespa. Blizzard is continuously making a lot of money with starcraft 2. That's the reason they support and update it, because to make money out of the game it needs to be a good spectator sport.

Other than that I like this preview, specially the modding tools.

But the balance changes didn't effect ladder?? I didn't notice since I have a sea account and I can't just update it. lol, what a major screw up

Finally an attempted solution for the LAN problem ![]()

Anyway, the update seems like a step towards the right direction.

This...looks to be the beginnings of some LAN-type functionality, but this does not mean that it would absolutely become a full-fledged LAN a la BW. They are giving us localized chat, but that's all...as far as they are hinting. Maybe it could lead to something more but we shouldn't be too excited yet. I'm just a little confused though. Because for example, let's say we have all our laptops hooked up together on the same hub/switch...OK sure, it makes it easier on a convenience level...but it's not earth shattering. Because to be honest, the people who are already friends with each other, wouldn't be affected. I can see this being more convenient for tourneys organizers.
