This is actually just dumb... The whole situation. To completely terminate Orb's affiliation with EG because he used a racial slur during a streamed ladder game, while being completely unaffiliated with EG, is completely unfair and unjust. I'm not condoning racism or racist slurs, but people should be smart enough and understanding enough to differentiate real racism VS. a word that's being used as any other insult would and is pretty damm diluted at this point. I would understand giving Orb some sort of warning of, "Don't let this happen again OR we will terminate you," or even a slight suspension; However then you have other EG members, IdrA being the best example (Though applicable with others) who throw out the word F----t all of the time (or did it, at least fairly recently). Yes, I saw the twitter post stating that he is "punished," for it in some way, but that's just the point. You have IdrA who seems to have a hundred lives WHILE representing EG and then you have Orb, who apparently didn't have a chance in the first place. By Alex's post and logic, the word F----t is NO better nor worse than the N-word. (Though both are incredibly diluted to have fairly little effective, derogatory impact at this point. At least towards who the words were originally created for.)
It's all just ridiculous to me. TL;DR : Orb should, at the worst, get a slight punishment, given that he wasn't affiliated with EG when it happened. If IdrA gets chance after chance, then Orb at least deserves one.
TL;DR2: Nobody will actually read this and it will make no impact.

ok so, there seem to be a lot of people thinking that EG was too hard on him, and i disagree. Orb called everyone who was trying to bring the truth to light terrible names and tried to cover up the truth however possible, he removed vods, tried to tell people it was someone else on his account. ONLY when it was 100% proven that it was Orb doing the name calling on stream, ONLY THEN did he confess and then apologize when all hopes of decieving people and his management were gone. And for those reasons, that is why i believe he got what was coming to him.
Notice i didnt even take into account WHAT he did, more so just his response.
Edit:Now that Orb has reinforced that he apologized as soon as the proof was out there, i guess this makes even less sense to me now. i still dont see how reliable a story it is considering that he has multiple people using his account and that they all BM similarly too... Anyways, not sure of anything else EG could have done, they cant take the risk and let this guy represent EG after this has come to light, just wish that in the future that they will look into the background of the people they sign contracts with a little more throughly.

Except EG is not talking at ALL about his response, instead bringing the focus onto his actions.

Good apology and I respect it, except for the non-mention of you saying people were being slanderous when it was blatantly obvious that they weren't ? Not nearly as much of an issue but I feel it deserves a mention.

man i really like orb, but honestly people say stupid shit, honestly fellers if a girl was allowed to see everything we said to our friends or have ever said before do you think they would stay with us? hell no. i can understand EGs reaction, but the best thing for the comunity to do is build past it, not kick someone from the community who made a mistake. in the wise words of will Ferrell. everybody love everybody!
P.S. no such thing as a bad word only bad intentions.

LOL so some one posted the screenshot of him saying the N word from a year ago on a ladder game?
I just called some one a "fag" and then a second later said "hey im sorry..." to which my opponent replied "its ok" then i said "yeah im sorry the condom broke that led to your birth."
So in 4 years when i join team EG and that guy post a screen shot of it on reddit, will i get the boot? Very harsh decision by EG IMO, a slap on the wrist should justify, im sure idra has said worse, way worse.

I've got to say that I was severely disappointed in you when I heard you using that word both in games and on a soundboard. Using language that extreme doesn't serve to do anything buy show someone's own immaturity. However you've apologized, and I believe in second chances. I can honestly say that your casting of the IdrA vs. Huk show match was one of the most exciting casts I'd seen in awhile. Good luck in your professional endeavors.
|
Going to miss your casting man. I hope you can come back in some shape or form in the future when the tide starts lowering on this incident.
I hope you continue to try and contribute to the community still in whatever way(streaming etc) sometime in the future. People are too heated now, but I'm sure I'm not the only one who is understanding enough to see through the comments made in blind rage and realize what really happened. Best of luck to you.
Remember, not everyone is holding a pitchfork.

Really fucking stupid that IdrA doesn't get fired for saying faggot WHEN HE IS ON EG, but Orb gets fired for having said nigger before he joined EG.
'Cause IdrA is bringing in the money, so they won't fire him. So fucking obvious.

What EG will do is up to them. But as a person I do not think any less of you compared to the average SC player that says all sorts of crap when they rage. However obviously the people you represent will hold you to a higher standard. Best of luck in the future and I truly mean that.

its odd.. but you and this situation will help me when I have the conversation with my 14 year old son about how the things he does and says today can have a direct effect on what happens tomorrow.
I must say.. I am not sure I agree with the decision made.. but it does go to show how some employers will pull up twitter, facebook, reddit.. etc to make sure their employees represent their company as they would like to be represented.

Orb, I never held any respect for you to begin with, your maturity always seemed sub-par to me. However, with this post, you have me reconsidering my image of you. I'm glad to see that you are holding some accountability for your actions, that speaks more about your maturity than your recent behavior. That being said, I still think you deserved what was coming, and I sincerely hope that this will teach you a valuable lesson that may end up opening some gates for you in the future.

Il miss your casting man, hopefully we'l see you around.
Still as an African American SCII player, Nigger is NOT a funny word, and I cant say that your apology really covers everything that word implies to everyone it affects. You claim you are not a racist, yet does selectively insulting and injuring a select group of people based on their race not make you a racist? I think not. If you say the word Nigger, you are a racist, regardless of if you intended to hurt African Americans or not.

yeah its unfortunate that kids had to scramble through your replays and take screen shots of you portraying BM because they were jealous of you. GL with the future

Just because Alex didn't bring it up in his post doesn't mean that it wasn't part of the reason orb was released.

But the statement by EG seems to indicate it wasn't his lying but his actual use of language. While I agree with you that the lying is grounds for being dismissed, was the language while he was unaffiliated also grounds enough for being dismissed, because that's the reason EG cites

Funny when ur BMing ppl on your stream and say all these things that you dont say sorry.. now that its more public and has to do with a team the sorrys come out. Never like Orb never will ... These are just my opinions and to some they mean nothing. That is fine but just over all stop being a douche ..

Hehe, I read it....
I feel this is such a strange situation.... seriously firing someone over one such incident... man come on...? I mean it is not good, but seriously..... come on... agh.
I don't even feel its legal to fire someone over such a thing, though I do not pretend to know anything about the legal situation between EG, Orb and the US Law in these cases.
Also, stupid nerds going with pitchforks to sponsors... stop that.
Blegh... I didn't even want to make this post but wanted to vent some frustration... :/

After discussing this even with Orb, I believe that he feels horrible about what has happened. I believe he should be put on leave, rather than terminated by EG. It's unfortunate that this will definitely ruin a 23 year old's life for a while. I hate when this stuff happens. I hope it all works out in the end
