When do people understand that using words that have questionable semantics does not mean you endorse the ideology connect with them, i.e. orb is not a "racist". Was his behaviour unprofessional? - yes. Was his behaviour inexcusable? - no! The terrible thing is that a company like EG is bowing down before those drama queens from reddit, who choose random target in a 4chan-style of pattern and pretty much doing it "for teh lulz". Now basically anyone who has old skeletons in his closet has to fear that he might be exposed to this mob of pitchfork carrying bullys. I don't even get it. The whole reason why orb got some attention in the first place because he entertained people by his rage and bm, just like destiny did when sc2 was just released. EG must have known that or otherwise their personnel manager did a bad job, when hiring orb. The correct thing to do would have been to make orb give an elaborate excuse (which he did), and then show that you dissociate yourself from anything in that regard, by doing something like this: - Make orb donate his first paycheck to a really good charity. - Make orb to cast a whole night of monobattles (or other stuff where the community has some fun in) and donate the raisings to a really good charity. - Invite some local disadvantaged/underprivileged children into the EG House and let them play sc2 for a couple of hours and give them some free energy drinks. - Whatever, something like this. But dismissing orb is 100% the wrong sign to the community. It shows all the redditors how much power they have, even over one of heaviest cornerstones of the business like EG is. That statement by Mr. Garfield makes me really sad and facepalm hard at the same time. | ||
