Every day I check the Playhem to see if Katu is casting and if he is, I turn off the steam and watch someone else. He has a track record of being big headed in my opinion and his past comments about American's being socialists, his homophobia, biggotry and now insulting professional sc2 players on stream pretty much seals the deal for me. I watched the steam live and when he basically told everyone to F** off if they don't like him, I knew he has absolutely no place in the sc2 community. Kudos to Playhem for stepping up and taking care of a problem that only would have gotten worse in the future. I'm sorry, but why would you be offended by this?

I can't see why ANYONE would be offended by someone calling Americans socialists. Or are all Americans really butthurt about socialism? It's not offensive. Unless you're a politician for some right-wing party or something I suppose. Calling someone a communist/socialist/whatever is quite obviously a joke and shouldn't be taken seriously by anyone, really. Also, I should add that I hadn't even heard of Katu before this thread, so I'm not defending him in any way. I've just read through the thread here and there, and some people make ridiculous statements about all this. Honestly though, I wasn't offended by what little I heard in the vod, but seeing as how he apparently went some on some anti-gay (?) rant, he's obviously not made for casting professional Starcraft. ps. I've been up all night and haven't slept in a while so maybe I'm just misinterpreting your comments, in that case, disregard everything I wrote.

1) his co - caster politely told him to knock it off and when he refused, distanced himself from the comments live during the stream, balls. 2) Playhem offer an unconditional apology and a very nice monetary offer to Dragon - probably a little more than he deserves since Dragon is a known previous cheater and trolling at his expense is par for the course (and he would never get a second chance at all on TL). 3) The offending caster is then unceremoniously dropped from the company Playhem cannot concievably do more. As someone said earlier, Professonalism with a capital P. Bonk deserves to be commended for his very gutsy and appropriate actions while live on the stream. And OP in this should post an apology edit at the TOP of this thread for having caught Bonk up in the drama at the start.

Sounded to me like he honestly regretted having said that. He regretted because of the backlash. If people were angry but didn't raise complaints, he wouldn't be sorry. He's not sorry for slander, hes sorry that hes facing the consequences.

And well, yeah the way Katu said that it was clearly trolling and he was not trying to get offensive. But he broke 2 golden rules as a caster. He didn't state the truth and if he thought it was the truth, he should have do more investigation as a commentator and that's part of his work. Saying dragon got fired from slayers because of him cheating is ridiculous and saying dragon is cheating right now is even more ridiculous even if it's a troll comment. Wich leeds us to golden rule number 2 : DO NOT FEED THE TROLL. EVER. Even more as a commentator because you are responsable of the chat handling and how the event is being held. So yeah, no BIG deal going on and playhem already did more than enough. But that was unprofessionnal and the issue needed to get brought in the light.

I don't get it. Katu has been a regular commentator for months. I've been a regular viewer watching him and other co-casters stream games for a very long time. If you only just now know about Katu and his casting, you were not watching or involved in Playhem to begin with. Please people, put down the pitchforks and stop the blantant fanboyism. Katu definitely wasn't in the right to troll up a storm, but I don't think anyone thought that it would turn into a witch hunt overnight. For gods sake, that poll has a 'death penalty' option, people are not taking the entire thing seriously.

Oh and the line about Americans being socialists was obviously a joke- I can't believe people are taking that seriously. Are casters not allowed to make jokes now?

I don't care about calling him greedy or a screen-cheater, the sarcasm about factories in TvZ where he thought he was so smart was just rofl though. What a douche. I hope you are, in fact, trolling. anyone who's intelligent could immediately grasp the dadaism and lunacy of Katu's statememnt about making a factory. Factories are TECH. you must create them. So he's making fun of himself and the situation by saying "he's doing what he's supposed to, wtf is that about?". god I hope you're trolling, or I fear for humanity. On February 29 2012 16:33 Silvertine wrote: He means that it's not offensive to be called a socialist because it isn't a bad thing. I might correct them, but offense? No. On February 29 2012 17:10 Alokiya wrote: It has absolutely no place in a SC2 stream really, mixing politics with entertainment is distasteful to a lot of people, and serves no real purpose. I find more humor when people mix politics with entertainment. maybe Im just lucky enough to have such a metropolitan view that I am not hunkered down political bias and small mindedness so that I can in fact find fun to be poked at by speaking jokingly of politics and people's stances. Anyone who can't enjoy joking about politics or what people's political views might be, must assuredly have a small world view themselves. Jokes are most enjoyed by those who's mind has expanded to fully and comfortably encompass all the ideals as being not beyond their ability to comprehend and accept as obvious and simple. its like how some people are deeply offended by jokes on tv if they've lived in the woods for 50 years and their understanding never expanded. barak obama would like a word with you. Also, theres tons of good points or ideas in communism or socialism just as there is in capitalism. the opposite of communism is not democracy guys, but capitalism. commun and capital are spectrum ends, just like democro and totalitar or depotism. it really irks me that people are so ignorant about these systems that they transpose them all the time to make some politically agenda-ed point.

Either way, Playhem dealt with this perfectly, and I feel bad that Katu put them in this place in the first place.
