Sounds like that could go both ways.

Lol no shit. Trolling is the "grown up" thing to do apparently. Another "grown up" thing to do is not knowing when to stop in the first place

Or even better when to do things or when not to do them.

It was definitely wrong for Katu to accuse Dragon of stream cheating, however I think this situation is blown way out of proportions. Professional sport casters show bias towards players and teams all the time. It's parts of the caster's personality. He also said in the chat that he was trolling. Not sure if he deserves all this criticism.

trolling on a tournament stream is retarded and not a valid excuse. EVER.
Throw on your favorite jacket and you're good to roll. Stroll through the trees and let your miseries go.

Bit of a cross post but I didn't see it in this thread aside from the posted apology from Playhem that they crossposted themselves:

So there's no confusion, my comment about retribution was not meant to indicate favor in either direction. It was more a theoretical proposition that probably did not belong in my post to begin with. That said, its probably best not to leave this open ended. I can assure everyone that Katu will no longer be a representative of Playhem, and seemingly shouldn't have been for some time.

I can understand why, but I do think this is overreacting a bit.
Yes Katu was out of line and I'm certainly not defending what he said, but the punishment doesn't really fit the crime in this case. I believe an official warning or something similar would be a better fit. He was after all a pretty good caster when he was behaving properly.
I was watching both Playhem's and Dragon's streams when things were going downhill and Dragon didn't seem to be offended at all. Although to be fair it could be that he either wasn't aware or understood what was being said about him.
But my point is that if Dragon can forgive Katu, then so should his fans be able to. At least wait for a reaction from him before making any decisions.

I understand your sentiment, though actions outside of this incident are also a factor in my decision. Playhem does not tolerate any bigotry, homophobia, or general disrespect of any kind -- no matter how vernacular or seemingly accepted the terms are.

Maybe this is a good opportunity for the community to come together and draft guidelines for caster ethics and behavior.

It sounds as if this was not an isolated incident for Katu and the sum of his mistakes led to his removal.

Bonk, I know you are improving, keep up the good work.

Usually you don't have to listen to everyone's personal opinion, but in this case unfortunately you had to listen to mine. Don't worry about it. Just keep improving

Well, let me say that Playhem is a great tournament. It's a great platform for players to get noticed. I'm happy that the owners have handled this situation properly. I'd say it's in very good hands . I hope Playhem becomes even more successful in the future.

As for Katu, he went too far, and I also didn't like his apology. I'm a big Dragon fan, and still feel angry towards Katu. But seeing the current state of casters (where the likes of moletrap and doa are allowed to cast), I hope he reforms, is forgiven and becomes a good caster people can enjoy watching.

I may be speaking out of turn here but I watched that daily and I think Katu has a really big ego... too big of an ego to come off as likable to people watching...

The guy is a great caster and he put his foot in his mouth, his co-caster tried to save him but couldn't. He has apologized and its time to forgive . One strike on him but thats it.

I think you have to consider the tournament in general before blaming the casters.
This tournament is absolutely absurd in design because you can just stream cheat ever so easily.
It is their fault in part to set up the tournament in this way, for allowing stream cheating to be so easy and also lying to players that their stream is delayed.

wow. boycotting anything everything with the name katustarcraft in it.

it disgusts me how he thinks apologizing in a very nonchalant gesture will solve it all. just "trolling/joking?" please. listen to his disgusting snicker.

No, it is not. See earlier post 2 pages back. This is not his first time embarrassing Playhem.

Dragon's learning the hard way that your mistakes can follow you for a very long time, whether or not it's fair. Now, the exact same thing will probably happen to Katu. It may seem ironically just, but in a nonsensical, chicken-and-egg fashion, where Katu's screw-up was in reference to Dragon's.

There's also the issue of "everyone likes a winner," and I fear that Katu, though his transgression is really less severe than Dragon's was, will be far more hard pressed to prove his worth as he's not a pro gamer or even pro streamer.

Growing up means thinking that trolling and insulting is ok?

Growing up means understanding when someone is making a joke... and not flying off the handle. I listened to the section of that video that people are refrencing and didn't hear anything offensive. He was just joking about him being streamcheating during the tourney and took it way too far. At what point in a reasonable person's head does it not click that since the caster is laughing and joking the whole time he's talking about it, that he's not being serious? If someone made a joke about combatEx streamcheating I don't think everyone would have lost their shit like this.

But in the end Dragon has more fans than Katu (which is what really matters in the SC2 world) so Katu will probably get fired and no one will ever make fun of Dragon for streamcheating again.

If during the next Code A or Code S that CoCa particpates in would Tastosis be "completely unprofessional" to make a joke like... "Well, if the opposing player is losing they can always try asking CoCa to lose at the end of the game. It's worked before"

thats the way the world works baby boy. No matter what the caster has to make an effort to appease the fans, he failed at it hardcore and he payed for it

real world at work ect

Hey guys, let's look at the bright side. We're going to see Dragon play at IPL4! What's done is done anyhow, it's probably just best to move on from this.
